It is hard due to the fact that some of the most historical things such as documents, books, etc are destroyed. Hindi din natin mailalabas ang katotohanan pero that was a good concept, it just need a good actors and actresses and a lot of money.
The Filipino Heroes Cinematic Universe is the best thing to ever come out of Philippine entertainment. Not that following the trend of linking movies is the key to success, but giving us a perfect blend of quality story (not to mention a touch on our history), music and cinematography is what makes it all worth the money to spend on tickets. Thank you Jerrold Tarog for raising the bar of Filipino movies since Heneral Luna and to Ben&Ben for being part of this generation's quality OPM. This is legit #PinoyPride.

The historical films of Jerrold Tarog are what we need most, an opportunity to learn about the painful truths of our past and to view our heroes as people who are caught in the most turbulent times. But what I appreciate most is there are many Filipino movie goers who want to learn and reflect of the history, who are for a long time hungry for substantial films like Goyo and General Luna. Romcoms are for people who want to enjoy the feels , to get caught in a moment of escapism and pleasure but historical films are for those who want to engage themselves in helping the nation move forward and are willing to take and apply the lessons in the past in order to make sense and address the problems of the present.

@가로길 Culture comes from the term "Cultivation" meaning it develops and is nurtured through time, we have a culture that is relatable to the lifestyle and philosophy of Europe during the colonization of Spain, the ideology of American democracy during the commonwealth, and a brief time of dicipline and patriotism during the Japanese occupation. All these moments in history cultivated in what defines The Philippine culture.
That's why it was never lost only changed and cultivated on what would fit with our own definitive culture.
"Just a colonized country" is poor statement and a product of being a shallow mind, you need to look on the different angles on the why's and what's of history and culture.
@가로길 Lost is synonymous to having it forgotten and not renewed or revisioned, sure our past text of pre-hispanic culture and history were lost in time due to oral and not written tradition, but through time we developed a new kind of culture that is similar to our past roots, with the mix of western traditions and ideas.

Let's portray what life was like for the regular folk during times of peace between eras. There are so many stories to be told and I'm so excited to see them. I'm hoping that films like Goyo will usher the Renaissance era of Philippine cinema. It's about time.

Been replaying this song all throughout my bus trip from Manila-Nueva Ecija, thinking how it is so fitting with Goyo’s inner struggles. We know that Americans are more equipped, powerful, and advance. It’s like there’s no way we could win and yet we still fight because that’s what you do for your country: You die for it. Goyo has been affecting me for many days now. I couldn’t fathom their patriotism and courage during those times because all I see now is more of vanity and corruption than love for country. Our heroes deserve to be praised.
I think he's much more loyal to Aguinaldo than he is to the country. Remember the scene where Manuel called him "aso" and that he was loyal to an "idolo" instead of a principle? Furthermore, Manuel also added that Goyo would die because Aguinaldo ordered him to die, which was exactly happened in the Battle of Tirad Pass. 60 Filipinos vs 300 American soldiers-there was no way they were going to win anyway (They killed 2 Americans and injured 9 whereas only 8 remained from the 60 Filipino troops). They only needed to more time to let Aguinaldo escape. What's more was that they did "nothing" for a span of 5 months. Joven kept on putting emphasis about the war that was currently taking place and that they were all believers of this "huwad na kapayapaan". They were in the middle of the war between a mighty opponent and yet they had plenty of time for celebrations, romance and courtship. Similar to how Goyo had disregarded the sound of gunshots, despite Vicente's warning, when he was talking to Felicidad. It's true that our heros are mighty which is why they were called heros in the first place, but they're humans too-flawed and imperfect- and perhaps, some heros might not even be heros. Also, when Director Jerrold Tarog had a forum in our school, he told us that he didn't plan to start the film with Goyo's childhood because the film would be a story of how he became a hero. Instead, he said that he wanted to begin the story with Goyo as a hero so that it would be a story of how a hero became a man (human).

For the past 2 weeks, our nation is a blur. My beloved Philippines is facing a great challenge. The battle against the unseen enemy (Covid19) is a tough one. But as I sit inside my car listening to this song my soul is being fed with positive thoughts that this too shall pass. I have no regrets for what ever my decision is at this point. As a Health Care worker I am volunteering my self, my service, my knowledge, my skills, and even my own life for this is the path that I vowed to. It's never easy for me to do this my mind says no, but my heart says yes. To my mother if times got rough and I didn't make it remember that I love you so much, and sorry for all my shortcomings take care of yourself, sorry if I can't do the same to you, remember you are in my heart. To my family I love you all and you are all my inspiration in doing this. To my colleagues let's all do this and give our enemy a fair fight. I will leave a comment para sa tamang panahon na mababalikn ko ito mararamdaman ko yung hirap, pagod at tyago ko na maabot o hindi man ang Pangarap pero at least I did sa tulong ng kantang ito. Special shoutout to a friend of mine na nagpakilala sakin nitong kantang ito, after we had a deep conversation she left me saying sabay nating pakinggan ang kantang "Susi" ng Ben&Ben and we did, babalikan kita after 5 mins, thank you Danette M. Nawa sabay nating maabot ang mga pangarap natin.
First time I heard this song (it wasn’t even in studio), I cried. It held such a meaning for me that it moved me a lot. First time I saw this movie, I cried as well. Finding out these two things are associated with each other, I couldn’t be more happy. Ben&Ben is such a great band and Jerrold Tarog is an exceptional director for giving us these films. Please continue making art.

I stan Keifer. His style of playing the violin sets Ben&Ben apart other music artists. I've seen lots of people use violin, though only on somber moods, like on ballads and all of those things. Unlike here, it's sounds like country to me, yet it sounds Filipino. It sounds distinctive, and lively.
