This was so helpful for me. I was getting tired of typing in 'akali guide' and getting videos of prof akali just stomping bronze players with no explanation of what he's doing but this is exactly what i've been looking for. Super informative stuff thanks bro
I greatly enjoyed the video Shok! I can tell you put a lot of time and effort and passion into your content, and believe me, it shows! Keep up the great work!
These are always insanely high quality. When I get filled mid (former support player turned jungler) I play the champs you made videos on lmao. I would love a zed guide like this since I can play him in both roles
im 650k akali main and ive been playing for a year only and i had no idea about laning phases or anything. now im learning and got myself into gold2, hope to be plat soon. thanks for the video! helpful with the items and laning
Crazy guide, I am absolutely shoked haha... Anyway this is the first of yours videos I have watched and I really feel like I understand the game much more. Thank you!
With maximizing dmg output with her abilities and passive- one thing that was missed was - you can E, use passive , then E2 to fly in, then use passive again - Something I often do on extended trades where I have a lot of space in lane and want to get the most dmg out of her kit.
Why electrocute is better than conqueror in low elo: -Easy trades (starting lvl 1) -Take precision as secondary rune into melee matchups or easy matchups such as teemo (play safe before lvl 6) -Take dorans shield so you don't miss the second wind rune that much -grab a dark seal, roam bot, recall, get to lane, take cs, secure drake -carry your team -focus their adc, supp and squishies in general -Hard matchups or difficult to play matchups are: irel, veigar, akshan, katarina Easy matchups (might still need practice): Teemo, sylas, yone, zed Don't forget, practice makes perfect and limit test often. She is one of the best and most fun champs in the game so go check her out
Nice video Shok! Love the champion guide content. I played a fair bit of Akali and watched a lot of pro players aswell. Another combo u can do is actually get both R1 and R2 off while ur E is in a shroud for the "Escape". This can be useful for diving quickly and getting out afterwards! Just thought i'd add that. Keep up the content!
After watching your LB guide (and coach Curtis') I finally caved in and bough LB. She feels like Zed and Akali had a baby (Zed backwards with bad Akali farming). You mentioned method farming and I think this is something that hasn't been covered much by anyone. Please make a guide on method farming with champions that are hard to CS with (Akali, LB, Fizz etc). I think if folks know how to farm properly with these difficult champs they won't build up bad farming/roaming habits and thus making your job easier as a coach.
Hi man very good guide, i'm an Akali main and agreed on most things. I will just tell my experience I think Electrocute is kinda underrated, it's especially good against bad player because I can net very easy early kills with. The most impactful one are when I kill enemy jungler with double buff, its often gg from there. I think against a squishy team and team where akali is free to do whatever she wants Electrocute is better, I have won most game in less than 10min mark when it was appropriate. However I do agree that against better player it's probably not as good. Second little point is for situational item, I have found having 2nd defensive item to be really good in very late game scenario. I often kill squishy without the need of rabadon so i pref to build a final defensive item it makes akali really hard to deal with. Something like Randuin aginst double/triple crit comp, Anathema against particularly fed enemy, Malmortius against big AP burst like veigar or vex for example, I also like Death Dance a lot to mitigate overall damage
binging ur vids lately and have improved a lot as a mid main, even looking to change up my champ pool based on ur guides to climb higher and overall i enjoy ur guides and keep up the good work. i would love to see a movement and clicks and sidestepping and kiting guide if ur interested in making that in the future
what I was looking for was how to close out games as akali. I can often get fed but then ❤ my only real strategy is to kill the enemy carries and siege with my team.
There is 1 thing i see rarely when it comes to Akali combos/tips, and it is the fact that you can use your passive twice using your E. E1 - AA - E2 - AA. Simple but very effective against tanky champs when you need as much damage as possible.
Diamond 2 akali main here! I ONLY take elect. whenever the enemy team is super squishy. So no tank at all. So probably 1 in 100 games i have one elect. game. Rarely, if i play against something really ugly like lucian, i play elect, so i can burst him at lvl 4 or 5. It can be good but only in a very few games.
Personally I think the absolute focus gathering storm is only really viable into squishy comps with electrocute, and you can bring null orb instead of absolute focus, its not as powerful with conq since you want longer trades where you'll likely lose the damage buff before you get a lot of value
Why is Void Staff not a situational item? In my (rly low elo) experience Lich Bane or Deaths Dance are the better option if they build no mr. Expecially because you already bought Shadowflame for the flat mp. Pls explain, im confused
I agree if they build no MR better items are definitely better, most of the time though people have MR by the point you're thinking about buying Void they usually have MR, but if they don't then yea just skip it
Honestly probably not, I haven't played Katarina since like season 5 and there are probably good Katarina guides out there already since there are a lot of OTPs. That being said I might do a vod review on one? But I don't think I'll do a full guide but who knows. Sorry about that.
Morello optional right now against bruisers with healing like Aatrox, Fiora, Jax, Yone, Yasuo and Zed(with R.Hydra)? It has additional flat pen too now
Could u post a tier list online anywhere of top match ups? They are much more punishing than mid especially bc if you are countered then you cannot roam and get fed off of enemy lanes that easily.
Yeah it's good, the main reason why it's harder to take is without resolve you'll have a hard time in lane, or you give up conditioning overgrowth which makes teamfighting a lot easier when Akali doesn't really need more damage. If you go electrocute tree though you can definitely take it if you don't need taste of blood.
how do i pick runes now? after the durabillity update. electro/determination or conqueror/determination? and what it works vs like i think electro is vs squishies and conqueror vs healers like sylas am i right? xd
Great vid Shok! I have one Akali matchup I can never seem to win and that is Lissandra. I feel like she counters me always and is much better contributing to team fights. Any advice?
Yeah it's definitely pretty annoying, I'd stack tenacity (legend: tenacity, mercs, unflinching) which should make teamfighting a lot easier. In the lane there really isn't that much you can do other than trade farm with her. Unfortunately it is just a pretty annoying counter matchup.
Hey there EUW Master Akali otp here, if you struggle in that matchup you should try elktro with 2nd tree 2nd wind and unflinching. you outrade her when you initiate with your e-e2 q combo even if she plays aftershock. Hold your r2 in case that she'll r herself to dodge it. Mercs are quite useful and in teamfight you have to play around your shroud since her r is point and click.
As an akali main Im actually abit shocked when you’re saying that resolve 2nd is best 99% out of times. I have to disagree, if you start dorans shield, then in my opinion you can opt for domination or sorcery 2nd sudden impact is so valuable for akali, you get both lethality and Magic pen, or with sorcery u go transcendence and storm Much more value through out the game imo, thought?
Definitely more value past the early game, but the problem is in high level play against good players Akali falls too far behind without resolve. If you know that you aren't going to get punished in lane at all you could be greedy, but there's a reason why resolve secondary is taken 99% of the time. edit: Also I forgot to mention that if you do want scaling, overgrowth conditioning is probably the way to go anyway.
Hey Shok, I was j wondering why you go for Presence of mind over Triamph, Ive used both quite a lot but I feel like triamph has saved my life after diving a tower so many times, but I also see the value in Presence of mind. sooooo idk whats better
Yeah Triumph definitely can save your life but the amount of energy restored from PoM is pretty important. I think in general Akali has much more trouble with energy management than surviving and I think every pro player I have seen takes PoM, but it's not like Triumph is bad just not as good imo.
Hi Shok! So very grateful you made an Akali guide as I have been OTPing Akali for the past 2 seasons. I am currently high platinum and have been struggling to make my electrocute with resolve tree build work as often as I used to in lower platinum (I love relentless hunter for making roams and getting to skirmishes faster). Should I just abandon Electrocute at this elo in favor of the Conq setup? Do you have any tips for maximizing the potential of Conq on Akali? Thank you again!
Honestly I'd say just try it, like I said in the video I do think Conq is quite a bit better and the most important thing for maximizing your use out of it is getting those Q autos in to get it stacked and keep it stacked. It gives you a lot more staying power in fights beyond your initial burst as well. It is also important (as always) to hit your E because that's gonna give some extra stacks too.
Akali OTP here, and from what I understood from Chovy and Showmaker Vods, you go electrocute in like 5% of your games or something like that (1/20-1/15 max) and it’s because you can’t go electrocute if there’s even one tanky, beefy champion in the enemy team. You can go electrocute if there’s a range squishy champion top, and an assassin jungle for instance (the supp doesn’t matter he will be to down on levels). And it’s also quit disturbing since Akali electrocute is like a new champ, you don’t trade whenever you hit a Q or you have your shroud up, you only go all in when you have electrocute, escape safely with shroud, he might be half, and go again when you see an opportunity (even under tower) and finish him (with ignite most of the time). That’s how you go through laning phase. The rest of the time don’t take any poke.
Thank you for the guide I find it a bit sad that in all videos i watch everyone is always like « o yea since he had early wave control due to Winning trade in the matchup he should bounce the wave and freeze but he didnt do so its fine, moving on » Noo ! What the hell do i do when i get freezed on, i can Never unfreeze as akali or i get all in by extended trade champ like irelia or bullied by range champ like akshan/syndra And its not like i could ask my jungler its not reliable 9/10 he wont come Am i just fucked in this situation ? Btw this comment might make me sound angry but im not at all, im grateful for the video and its good content even tho as an akali main myself i didnt learn much, but im just lost regarding what to do when 1. You lose trade because its a losing matchup (+ the fact that akali has very little wave control) 2. So he build 2-3 wave crash it and then bounces back, thin it and freeze
Nah it's fair enough. That can definitely happen. Honestly I would try avoid playing matchups like that, while you can blind pick Akali I think she's much better to use as a counterpick to weak ranged champions or melee champions so that hopefully you don't end up in that situation. I think relying on your jungler to gank/break a freeze is not gonna work in soloq most of the time so if I have to play a matchup like Akali vs Lucian in soloq I'd be pretty unhappy. You can take TP in these matchups which helps a bit, otherwise you might just have to accept that you are going to lose some CS as is the nature of Akali early game. Against the champions you mentioned specifically, Syndra is actually quite a good matchup for Akali, you can outsustain her with second wind + dorans shield and fleet if you feel like you need it. Mainly you just have to dodge a lot of skillshots but at least at a high level it's quite good. Irelia can be hard bit if you use your E and W well it can be sorta hard for her to trade, if you use E to react to her E and W to kinda disengage if she ever does manage to get on you. Akshan is just quite difficult overall, another matchup I would try avoid if possible.
I'm just learning about this game trying to be a good jungler. I see why ppl are good at jungling in Smite. They played this game. ....or just know how to jungle lol

Yeah very good point, knew I'd forget some things :/
Why electrocute is better than conqueror in low elo:
-Easy trades (starting lvl 1)
-Take precision as secondary rune into melee matchups or easy matchups such as teemo (play safe before lvl 6)
-Take dorans shield so you don't miss the second wind rune that much
-grab a dark seal, roam bot, recall, get to lane, take cs, secure drake

I actually don't know all the top matchups, I'd recommend looking up a matchup sheet from a top laner as they're likely to have much better insight.
what about the sudden impact rune it seems to synergize pretty well with everything she does. Stealth and dashing
Yeah it's good, the main reason why it's harder to take is without resolve you'll have a hard time in lane, or you give up conditioning overgrowth which makes teamfighting a lot easier when Akali doesn't really need more damage. Hey im a akali main in Bronze what other champions do u recommend to climb i sometimes play yone and Viktor
Yone and Viktor are fine, maybe add a very simple champ as well like Ahri/Vex.
whats the build on akali now. is it still the same?
Protobelt > Shadowflame/Zhonya > Rabadon/Void > Rabadon/Void most of the time. Fleet or conq as the runes (fleet vs ranged, conq vs melee mostly)
11:40 idk is seekers rlly that good still ? it was 137% pre nerf but now only 107% gold efficancy (with full stacks) 70% without stacks
True I actually forgot about the nerf, probably just pick it up if you're vs more than one AD champ/ you plan on building Zhonya anyway.

is cleanse useful on akali sometimes or nah?
Not really, you can normally get enough tenacity from runes/mercs and you kinda want TP for lane or ignite for skirmishes

How can you call yourself rank 1 akali if you're not even professor akali
TRUE
No real counters? You surely have never met my Gangplank or any decent gangplank ^^

@@ShokLeague do you only play akali mid?
@@Punisher41230 yeah, I queue ad second
Bro that Lucian and Zed was so bad i have literally seen better in silver can you actually make a guide where you aren’t smurfing so we can see the actual difficulty of these matches
Glad you think I'm so good I make pro players look like silvers. Thanks for the kind words
being rank 1 akali isn't something to show off.
