His counter is awesome! It's not broken, for sure, but being able to use it in mix-ups regardless of whether you get hit or not, is pretty awesome.

The best part of down air is that the sword is just so big you don't even need to go off-stage to spike, you can just two-frame from ledge. Sometimes you don't even have to two-frame if it's a vertical recovery

Pro Tip with Sephiroth: His down air goes through platforms, including the ledge. So when someone is recovering low you can down air them through the ledge and spike them without dying yourself.

We got most of the video game MC'S respectable archenemy all that's missing is Eggman and the villain roster is completed.
@Rose's Zen Garden okay those are some great villains as well but, we definitely dont need anymore Pokemon characters we already have enough from that franchise, and we *DEFINITELY* don't want another Fire Emblem character we've all seen enough of them already. As for M.Bison and Akuma idk It could happen could only see one of them making it into the game though and finally Gruntilda it's already been settled that she's deconfirmed we see her in Spiral Mountain as a cameo, So that's why I said Eggman we haven't seen nothing in smash about him yet not even as a MII so till then I'll still have hope for one of my most wanted characters.

When playing Sephiroth in training mode, I was like "Eh, he'll probably be mid tier"
then I played him online
Honestly, he probably still will. All the flashy high damage moves in the world don't help if you can't keep pressure or slow your opponents' down. So far, he just looks to be high risk/high reward.
All those flashy moves won't stop Steve from minecraft
He is though. Online's not really a good indication of Sephiroth's placement in the tier list because most people you'll find online aren't even good, and the ones who are good can't make full use of their skills because of all the latency throwing off their reaction times. It's why projectile spam with Samus is super viable online but if you do the same thing in local play you'll get your ass kicked unless your opponent is just trash.
Most of Sephiroth's moves are slow to start up, and have a lot of ending lag. The only exceptions to this are his nair, his side special, and his down tilt, making him really bad at taking the offensive unless he can manage to land his side-B, which has a very thin hitbox and just about anything will cancel it.
He's also pretty bad in the air, which is definitely going to hurt his ranking in the tier list even more. His disadvantage state is also not looking that great, with a very lackluster dair that has a ton of end lag, and the fact that his only other landing option is his up special, which is honestly a lot better, but it's still super easy to read and counter.
He's definitely a fun character to play casually, but he's really not suited for serious/competitive play. Obviously smash youtubers are going to put "BROKEN" and "INSANE" in their thumbnails and titles because it draws everyone's attention, and their skill will make the character look a lot better than it really is, when all you actually have to do is look at the things they pull off with Sephiroth in comparison to what they do with other characters and you'll see the difference.

@@sirkolme2761 HE. IS. NOT. SLOW. Why does everyone keep saying that!? his sprint even puts him at a lower hurtbox, his turn around is INSTANT. His fast fall is so fast making empty hops with his tiny short hop immensely threatening and good at conditioning. Everyone thinks he’s slow just cause the end lag on moves YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO USE IN NEUTRAL have start up and end lag. Those aren’t his only moves tho.
Makes more sense to me compared to a Pink Gumball with Feet being considered the strongest previously, Lol.

@@luvr6ge867 yeah I thought the same thing. He's so slow with so little pay off. His aerials are awful to land with outside of nair. His sword doesn't really even hit that hard outside of D smash. Easily one of the worst counters in the game. His spells are interesting but again, so slowwwww.
He was so much more fun to play in final fantasy dissidia. I was so excited for him when he was announced too :(
@@brandonc3780 you gotta be joking his side smash killed mario in the middle of the stage while he wasnt even at 50 during sakurai review, all his smash attack are strong , he has a recovery hard to punish and are you joking about his counter , it is pratically UNPUNISHABLE unlike all the other characters, because it is a barrier that will still send attacks at the end even if the opponent doesnt atk , unless you are behind him , but only a noob would use his counter when the ennemy is behind, it ez is the best counter after joker's , his dash atk is really good and his tilt are fast , only down side is his smash atks take a bit of time to launch but oh boi do they do dmg when they hit , you definetely dont know what you are talking about and your analysis is quite awful , try to experience him more , this character imo is either high mid-tier or simply hightier
