    I have no words....
    The architecture is breathtakingly beautiful. It's really sad the wood carving is becoming a lost art.

    I want to share a picture of the house we moved into when i was in high school, 1967. The house was built in 1907 and my parents rented it for 10 years the bought it. My mother sold it in 2002. I recognized much of the architectural features. Our house was much smaller.

    How beautiful. I love the fretwork (in UK more common in Edwardians, but I know you don’t have that classification in US) and the stain glass window is amazing. However I love all those tiny details like the numbers on the windows just as much, if not more - they just make me smile). Thanks for walking us through another amazing property. I really appreciate how you explain how item/rooms etc would have been used, as a brit who only gets about a few weeks (if we’re lucky) of hot weather I forget how much those large windows and transems would have been appreciated. Every house you show makes me want to move to the states. Thanks again.

    Love the house but hate that modern toilet in the bathroom. My 1912 home in Michigan had a modern toilet but the rest of the bathroom was original. I found a nice toilet being discarded from a 1913 home nearby. I installed it with bright polished brass pipe between the tank and bowl and new period style hardware. It looked like a million dollars. Those old toilets are noisier but you can flush a Buick down one without clogging it!

    I absolutely love this house. It was built the same year mine was. If it was mine, the first thing to go would be that white siding. That poor girl is screaming for color. And those beige walls inside…I907… no way. Color would make that wool work really stand out

  • @SpanishEclectic
    @SpanishEclectic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Beautiful woodwork on this one! Tiger Oak!!! It's interesting that the large formal parlor was separated from the entryway only by columns, rather than enclosed with pocket doors. I'm curious about the original builder of the home, especially when I see mantels that are identical to those in Pearl. With the narrow lot and small house between to larger homes, I wonder if Pearl was meant to be a "Mother-in-Law" home, or perhaps a spec house to take advantage of unused land between the two mansions. Many lovely details, yet they are more streamlined than Victorians from earlier periods. Classy, regardless! Glad you can rest your heads with convenience and comfort (and a short commute, LOL), after hours of hard work.

    • @OurRestorationNation
      @OurRestorationNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    gorgeous home! out of curiosity, why are double front doors needed (or more common) in the north?

    • @OurRestorationNation
      @OurRestorationNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The inclement winter weather! They need a place to enter, remove snow gear and shake of the snow as well as shutting the cold out of the main part of them home before entering

    • @Emily-qo1gw
      @Emily-qo1gw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Emily-qo1gw I only learned this after I moved to Ohio 2002-06. All the restaurants and stores have the double sets of doors with space inbetween to trap cold air and snow and prevent it from coming inside when people enter and take off the snow and extra clothing and shoes.
