People are sometimes distracted, demoralized, etc. - yet giving them disease-like Freudian labels and then neurotoxic drugs drives many into delinquency or makes dullards out of them. Furthermore - since large numbers of the public accept reductionist axioms about human potential - this has a negative effect on the entire culture!

This is correct - although the sincerity of psychiatrists cloaks what they are effectively doing to demoralized people! / With their Psychopathology Courses, psychiatrists, et. al. are seeped in pessimistic Freudian ideology - and like a cult, they carry on by denouncing people with disease-like labels and then force them to take neurotoxic drugs or ECT - to thus deliver them into becoming cash cows for their career building & Mental Health - pharmaceutical co-franchise! / With the help of you, Peter Gotzsche and myself - Psychiatrists can simply be indicted and/or redirected from their Luciferian ethics, so that the people they are entrusted with can soon develop mental + emotional cathexes, which is what Mental Health is! @@Solscapes.

I also felt a physical need for benzos that I did not/do not feel with the SSRIs. I feel that I've been harmed by both and not given informed consent. @@fareenrazzak5906As Cassie hasn't replied, I thought I'd pass on some of the practices that helped me taper off benzos and an antidepressant and remain off them despite the hellish withdrawal symptoms. Writing my feelings out "at strength" in a journal - really let it ALL out! No-one will see, it's just for you. Learning self-hypnosis to help with sleep and pain. Using short meditations of varying types from TH-cam frequently throughout the day - they give similar effects and brain waves to sleep and can make you feel SO much better and calmer! Shaking and dancing out the emotions that flew out like fireworks after being numbed and sedated for 20 years - that was and is invaluable for pain, anxiety, challenging emotions like rage and frustration, and grief. Eating a mostly organic and non-processed food diet and drinking lots of water, the Mediterranean diet is the most balanced - but not fussing about food too much. If I wanted a treat, I bought a small one and enjoyed it! Walking in nature helps a lot. Spending less time on the computer and more time in nature or in the community made a huge difference as computers increase stress and activate the nervous system. Vagus nerve exercises Avoid caffeine and alcohol as they affect the same brain receptors that Benzo's depress and can prolong withdrawal symptoms. (I know that's hard!) I wish I'd known about the Ashton Protocol written by an English doctor who helped people taper off benzo's slowly and safely! And the many support groups on Facebook like Benzo Warriors and the internet support group, Benzo Buddies. We need to find what works for US as we all have a unique healing path, but all these have been shown to benefit people. I highly recommend Chi Gong videos, somatic tracking videos for emotions/pain/dizziness, etc, various forms of meditation apps and videos - I particularly like Chi Gong, guided visualizations, and yoga nidra. All help with the trauma and stress of withdrawal symptoms. If you're interested, I can share my favourite most helpful videos that aided me Escape from Benzo Oz and bust out of Pharma Prison! A family member asked all the right questions before being prescribed a Benzodiazepine on a daily basis ie are they dependency forming, will they continue to work long term, can they cause cognitive decline, etc... He was told basically that that's all a load of rubbish. He was so reassured that he took them happily and augmented the dose happily to a high dosage. Finally, the penny started to drop and he emailed the psychiatrist to explain that each time he augments the dosage it works for a while but that the anxiety etc... ramps up again after a few months. He never got a response to that email and his questions were never answered but just ignored. He is now in withdrawal and suffering intensely.

That doctor sounds like he's from 1976 not 2024! They didn't know about it back then, but they are supposed to know now. I got addicted to it but I had an idea what I was in for. I started swiping my mom's Valium when I was only 15. I In 1978, I read a book called "I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can, about a network news producer who stopped taking Valium and went into psychosis. It was also made into a movie. She wrote the book in the mid 70s warning people of the lies we were being told about it. Even with this knowledge, I thought it wouldn't happen to me. I loved how it made me numb and shut off the self-doubt and negative self-talk I used it for 40 years. But I also became an alcoholic which made it more complicated. Every time I wanted to get sober, I was detoxed using Ativan. I was tapered off of that after 3 days, and when I went to a therapeutic rehab they wouldn't prescribe it. I had to go through withdrawal from it in rehab, and then when I got home, I would just go on it again. Countless times I did this. It's a longer story but I ended up being able to get over it in 2015. But now I'm on Effexor. I hope your relative gets through it. The fact that he hasn't been on it that long should be in his favor.

@@donnagelina8548I am SO sorry you went through that and yes, so many benzos and psych meds cause vastly more problems that they help, and help at best only temporarily. I too suffered the tortures of the damned when I tapered too rapidly off Clonazepam and Elavil, prescribed for the pain and insomnia of fibro. They had caused or worsened every problem, and I was diagnosed with 5 "incurable" diseases - that all resolved or improved dramatically 6 months to 2 years after I quit! Alas, doctors get their information from drug companies, who also fund universities and often have influence over the curriculum. Many despite the data out for 40 years still believe them "nice safe sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication" when they're as addictive as heroin and 10 times harder to quit as withdrawals can last for years! But I'm off ALL medications now, and I got my life back! I did some grief and trauma counseling which helped a lot, and discovering the reasons why I had the symptoms and took the medications in the first place. Best of luck, and I'm so glad you were able to quit alcohol and benzo's. Effexor is just one more you will have the strength to taper when you're ready. I'm so glad I escaped from Benzo Oz and busted out of Pharma Prison!

Doctors are taught in universities funded by drug companies, which explains their ignorance and arrogance. Drug companies influence on what is taught in medical and psychiatry schools and people who aren't pro drug aren't hired. What they're taught is drug company PR rather than the data about these medications. Many doctors are horrified when they discover how little they truly know, which is appalling when the data on drugs like benzodiazepines causing brain injuries has been available for 45 years. Thankfully, there are a few honest and ethical doctors who speak out - which you can't do if you want to get funding, so I'm very grateful for doctors like Dr. Gotzsche.

Actually, the UK is planning to put millions of pounds into clinics that help people taper OFF these drugs. Their studies have shown psych meds do more harm than good in the majority of cases and are incredibly difficult to quit. While that doesn't help those of us in North America, it's a fine start - and one I hope other countries will soon emulate. Because yes, anyone trying to quit a benzodiazepine or psych med may well suffer the tortures of the damned as so many of us have. I was always suspicious about the patient leaflet in SSRI's which warns of 'discontinuity symptoms' if the drug is stopped abruptly, and yet my GP would say they are not 'addictive'. It is as Dr Gotzsche says plainly semantics. In hindsight I can see that you dont really need a PhD in pharmacy, medicine, or indeed linguistics to see that. Discontinuity symptoms are withdrawals, simple as. Granted I guess it does presuppose a definition of 'addiction', but to my mind a substance is surely addictive if you get unpleasant symptoms upon stopping it abruptly. The pharmaceutical definition of addiction seems to be that because taking say 1 citalopram wont make you 'high', they are not 'addictive'. But the point is that patients are precisely made addicted to these drugs with the advice that they should take them for a minimum of 6 months to a year, and by that time for all intents and purposes they ARE addicted.

    • @4GSLmusic
      @4GSLmusic ปีที่แล้ว +3

Dependence and addiction are two very different things and cause the same symptoms. Many are not addicted to these drugs as they do not crave them at all. I’ve lived it, never once craved these drugs. But our brain becomes adapted and dependent on them. Very different. We can’t mix those two terms up. That’s very dangerous.

@@4GSLmusicI understand what you're saying, but if brain and body become addicted even when the person themselves takes the medication "as prescribed" - that's a powerfully addictive drug or it wouldn't have hellish withdrawal symptoms. The patients, however, are NOT addicts as they didn't toss down handfuls, washed down with booze, but took medically recommended doses.

    • @4GSLmusic
      @4GSLmusic 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

there's a clear distinction between addiction and dependence. the withdrawal is upregulation and downregulation of receptors. often addiction is not even present. No cravings present. I would say the chemical action of each drug and potency depends on the drug itself. Some can come off cold turkev (not recommended obviously) or quickly and experience zero withdrawal symptoms. What's damaging with the word addiction is it places blame on a good patient for simply following drs orders. I've met addicts. they'll lie, cheat, and steal for their drugs.... people who have iatrogenic illness and withdrawal typically do not... unless there is addiction present. The feeling of withdrawal is the lack of a synthetic chemical there, which I know you know. it gets very complex, but it's possible to slowly taper patient safely. Also, looking into SERT occupancy for drugs like SSRI's is very interesting, to look at how the taper rate truly affects the patient and how much of the the drug drops. Which is thought to be the reason for withdrawal. it is hell. but I'm living proof any human can heal.

So many young people are often prescribed antipsychotics for symptoms they felt pressured to admit, even if their understanding of those symptoms differs or they were reported by someone with limited vocabulary. After years of treatment, the result can be tardive dyskinesia, a debilitating condition caused by the misdiagnosis. Who is responsible? Unfortunately, no one can be held accountable, as the misdiagnosis has been entrenched for decades.

In Czech Republic is a lady who is the owner of 7 Pharma stores,
she made an interview about a year ago, after the covid, saying that often she meets elderly people
She is telling them good advice, please get off the medications as much as possible,
Dont watch the news at night, to get nervous, because it triggers you to eat sleep pills,
Rather spend time in nature, go for a walk, exercise.
Even pharma owners as she is, are against the overuse of drugs. She saw an elderly couple eating the same set of drugs, because it was convenient for the couple, to go to a pharma store and save time, or whatever reason they had. Dont be fooled by the system. Its ridiculous. Two people can not have the same diagnosis.
They may have the same symptoms from the same drugs... But not the same cause of illness. Everybody is different.
Drugs should be short-term, but not long-term.
Drugs should heal, not cause other health problems.

My personal advice is to chant Hare Krsna mahamantra and gradualy recover developing the mode of goodness taking care of oneself and those around. Depression pills could have damaged the brain and body but they cannot harm the Supersoul. And every living being is a spiritual soul. The body is just an instrument. Do not worry if the instrument is not fit to enjoy in this world. Just try to get the hell out of it developing the apropriate knowledge. thank you both, I have recently found your channel. the last close to 2.5yrs of mine have been a fight to gain back my brain after what I believe was one of the most unethical treatments of my life. I had no idea the meds I have been on over 15 years, my adult life, were so dangerous. I had a psychiatric dr cold turkey me off 400mg Lamictal, 2mg/xanax, 40mg Lexapro and 12.5of ambien daily. w/I a week I was begging to save my brain, w/I 2, I was unable to answer questions and would forget what I was saying mid sentence. I started have ambulatory problems, brain zaps, intense panic and then a full psychotic break. w/I 4 weeks, I could only say Beep and Boop. and he discharged me from his "care". it's taken me this long to formulate cogent ideas, I have panic attacks out of nowhere, phantom pains, dereliction (I often fear that I died under his care but was reincarnated in the same body)... but now, I'm angry. My general practioner scrambled to get me back on my med regime which had me stable my whole adult life, but I suspected that I had severe brain damage. The last few weeks, I happened to stumble upon benzo injuries and have extrapolated that I clearly have that, but suspect that due to the heavy psychiatric regimen I was, not only the benzo, but each medication carried the same destructive capabilities. my regular psychiatrist thinks that said doctor was completely inhumane and has no idea how any circumstances would warrant such a drastic change given that each med needs to be carefully withdrawn over months, maybe years. I have longer bouts of clarity now, buy the growing anger is palpable. am I wrong to consider this akin to medical malpractice? I had 4 bachelor's and a master's specialization on my previous brain.

Hi, The Ashton Manual mentions Ambien (which is a Z-drug). You can see in the manual that the Z-drugs have a Valium equivalent for tapering. @@johnherbert6497 it's literally the definition of physical dependence. Withdrawal symptoms do not equal addiction by definition. Addiction has a behavioral component - are you stealing to get your drug in spite of consequences? Are you using it to get high? Are you able to taper it slowly, with control, without going on a bender and taking 5x as much as you were prescribed? Your answers to those questions indicate if you're addicted or just physically dependent.

@@aprilhassell1747 I'm on 5mg cialis daily as I've read it's good for vascular health (for sexual dysfunction, stroke patients and atherosclerosis) and it seems to help. Exercise helps too ofc. I've been taking it on and off for a few months now, but only daily for about a week as I felt I had to do something to speed the process along. Headaches and blunting have been bad. In hindsight I should have been on it sooner, but I was apprehensive of taking another drug doled out carelessly. I also take vitamin and mineral supplements including NO (nitric oxide) promoting amino acids such as l-arginine and l-citrulline, among others, which help vasodilation and regeneration.
My lifestyle was getting better during the year before I started the drug, but before that I had neglected my health for a number of years due to various stressors, student, shitty job, shitty girlfriends^^ I should have realised my problem was just my shitty situation and relationships (parents included). But I digress! I'm in Sweden. But I'm sure we could arrange something. And no problem. There aren't many whom understand what we're going through.
Let me know if you want to know more about what I take. Cialis and NO-related amino acids could potentially be dangerous together, they drop blood pressure, so make sure to be careful.
Edit: acupuncture also helped me. Anything to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (calm/healing). I've got so much to say on the topic I'm considering making a video:/blog...

I believe if that is working for you then stay on it, absolutely. I am in a similar situation, however, on only one Effexor. But I went through Klonopin withdrawal 9 years ago and I don't want to go through anything like that again. I have absolutely no problem taking the medication for the rest of my life. I just have, in the back of my mind, a concern that a time might come when it will be unavailable (any number of scenarios; natural disaster, civil emergency, etc.).The last thing I would want to experience at 63 years old, is having no access to my medication in a situation where having my wits intact would be the most crucial.

Clearly medications can be very harmful long term. But it's also true that severe depression & anxiety does not go into remission without them. Many people simply cannot function without psychiatric drugs. Also, alternative treatments cannot even begin to make a dent in moderate to acute cases.
It seems to me that we are no further ahead of understanding & treating poor mental health than we were in 50's

"severe depression and anxiety does not go into remission without psychiatric drugs"
Anyone who's studied trauma, meditation, and brain neuroplasticity would respectfully disagree.
Psych drugs are one form of treatment, best reserved for intense states of mind and even then, for only a short amount of time. Beyond that, psych drugs mask and repress our emotions which makes any true healing very difficult.

@@cowboyjohnsontown @chrishoughtonart - Well, I speak for myself, my two parents, my four siblings and a few friends who never experienced remission without drugs. It's true psych drugs mask & repress our emotions, but that's a HELL of a lot better way to go through life than living with relentless unbearable torture of Severe, Chronic Depression. As far as healing without drugs, I've given it 64 years so far, any idea how much longer I should give it?

@@montesa9136 I absolutely hear you. And I'm sorry to hear you and multiple family members have suffered like you have. I also can only speak through personal experience. I've been on antidepressant for 23 years but a few years ago had a horrible reaction to a doubling of my dosage. I eventually learned more about SSRIs and realized maybe they were getting in the way and actually making my symptoms worse in the long run. I also experienced mania and suicidal thoughts when my dosage of paroxetine was doubled.
This experience led me to learning about things like meditation, yoga, trying an anti-inflammatory diet, cannabis, journaling, cold therapy, etc. These practices not only help with symptoms but some seem to help get to the root cause of the fear or trauma.
I wish you well and certainly don't mean to invalidate your experience. I certainly defended my antidepressant for years because it DID help me! The problem was that the pills helped me but eventually started hurting me. And once you're on the pills, it's difficult to get off because one must fight thru physical dependency/withdrawal while also facing the underlying issues that made the person get on the pills in the first place. 🙏

@@cowboyjohnsontown @chrishoughtonart - Wow! Your comment is by far the most honest & understanding I've ever had. I'm glad you are finding some success in your alternative treatments. I've tried them all but found them useless. I believe in my case there is no underlying cause for depression, other than everyone in my family has it. Without a doubt when 6 people have it there is a strong genetic component to the disease. Nothing will ever change that!
I'm looking forward to my decision to go ahead with Physician Assisted Suicide. I believer poor mental health leaves most of us in impossible situations where we spend your entire life trying every treatment possible, clinging to the false hope that one day we will live a normal life. Personally, I don't know a single person who has risen above this insidious disease & gone on to realize their goals

@@montesa9136 I appreciate your reply and my heart goes out to you. If I could recommend one book to you, it would be "Your Drug May Be Your Problem" by Dr. Cohen and Dr. Bregin. It's an in-depth read about how psych drugs can exacerbate mental health issues, including suicidal ideation. My SSRI made me suicidal for months and months and I was convinced it was simply my "broken brain" and my preexisting "chemical imbalance." I've since learned that psych drugs can cause all sorts of chemical imbalances in our brains and it makes it very difficult to distinguish what is a "mental health" symptom and what might simply be a side effect of these powerful psych drugs.
I would also respectfully suggest you look into a simple gut health regimen. Eating a strict non-inflammatory diet and adding in pre/probiotics can do wonders for depression. Most of our serotonin lives in our guts, rather than our brains so diet has a massive influence on how we feel. You may have gut issues or food sensitivities that are worsening your symptoms.
I wish you love, strength, and support. Life can be so difficult and I can hear how much you've already struggled. I'll keep you and your progress in my prayers. 💚
