So good to see you smiling and healthy. Congratulations on your book ~ I can't wait to read it. 23 months off Effexor XR, 34 months off Topamax and 42 months off Klonopin. Too bad most of us don't have a physician to depend on!!! Too bad most of us didn't have a psychologist/psychiatrist who is the least bit knowledgeable. Thank God for TH-cam. Our symptoms last forever and the healing process is so slow. I remember my first postings 40 months ago and I've come so far. To find out Klonopin is considered "long term" at 4 weeks and I was prescribed 4 mg/day for 33 years!!! To feel such anger and rage ~ toward the doctors and as a taper symptom itself. To find out we have anxiety far worse after the taper than when any drug was first prescribed. To find out our families and friends don't believe or support us. To find friends on TH-cam. Take care friends ~ Janet

T Web some people just can’t stop! That’s a fact! U are dibilitated for years & then stuck in ENDLESS brain fog & tinitus ? Is it even worth it? I’d say I wouldn’t do it again! Just try to stay on Lower dose?

@T Web - Hi T Web, yes it seems like this goes on forever. You have to decide whether this is right thing for you to do. I can tell you, it's the right thing for me. In 3 1/2 years I've slept more than three hours less than a dozen times. I wake up with neuropathy every 2-3 hours. I go through the day with body aches and neuropathy over my entire body. Why keep going? The intensity of my symptoms is less than it was in that first year. I can see a difference and feel a difference. Though anxiety is a problem, I'm handling situations better than when I was on all those drugs. I walk and ride my bike and exercise has saved my life and sanity. I hope I never take another drug - I don't even use aspirin..... In those early days, it was all I could do to make it one hour at a time. I have had two days in the past month where I went through the day with relatively no pain!!! I was calm all day long. I could sit on the couch and stand up without pain. Finally having a day like that is enough to keep going. I hate this process as much as anyone, but my brain is better without those horrible drugs. Take care my friend ~ Janet

@@Rollwithit699 - Hi there! I officially made it to my 4th anniversary since my last dose of Klonopin and 3 years off Topamax and Effexor XR. I'm much further than that first year, but so far to go. I still suffer from body aches, neuropathy and insomnia. I'm beginning to realize these symptoms may be permanent. I got outside and took walks as early as I could (3 1/2 years ago). I get outside every day and this helps with my anxiety. I function very well before 1:00. After my walk, I hop on my bike (adult tricycle) and go grocery shopping or whatever chore needs to be done. The afternoon is where my body aches and neuropathy either remain the same or get way worse. I have no idea what each day will bring. I know I did the right thing in coming off these drugs, but I went off these drugs hoping and believing I'd heal completely. I was on Klonopin for 33 years (4 mg/day) and I'm beginning to believe I may be permanently damaged by the incompetence and uncaring by the medical profession. I don't want to discourage anyone from tapering off their drugs ~ just be aware not everyone may heal completely. Take care ~ Janet

Namaste Nguyen well diet could be very helpful ! Sleep is very crucial! The gaba Receptors have to grow back so it’s not a process that can be speeded up? The food yoga & meditation helps u to stay calm & more comfortable during the process as you are going through the years of brain injury reboot? I found that Drinking Pink Himalayan Salt Water Morning till Night really lowers Cortisol & Flushes the Adrenaline & balances Blood Pressure by replenishing Minerals ! U can google it for lowering Anxiety! U can still function before 2 years but the brain fog & dizziness doesn’t really go away for a while!!!! It’s like we were drinking DRAINO & our brain got Damaged!!! This is not a NORMAL DRUG to be taking AT ALL! It’s like A Death Pill & I think the BIG PHARMA should be charged with 1st degree MURDER ! This wasn’t EVER test past a 4 week trial period? How can it be prescribed for longer than that! It already starts to destroy the brain after 2 weeks & the horrible Withdrawels symptoms already are instated & can last for years for people that only took them sparing life during a few weeks??? This is DESTROYING LIVES leaving people totally disabled for years? The trauma & Terror overload is not anything that is even HUMAN! It’s like being in your own concentration camp and if u actually get out u have lost so many years of your life & u have been completely traumatized? That is if u don’t commit Suicide it OD accidentally by mixing other drugs or alcohol trying to get rid of Unbearable Benzo Symptoms driving u crazy! This is NOT A JOKE AT ALLL! There’s no real Relief while going through this grueling process waiting to have your brain grow back ? So go slow & do yoga & eat clean & grind Salt WTer & get massages & have good loving support system to do things for u when u are stuck ! U can’t take any natural Supplements either ...they actually agitate the brain & Nervous System! Hot Magnesium Epsom salt baths are soothing! I don’t smoke weed so I don’t know about that helping but that causes more brain fog probably! Hospitals & ER know nothing so they can’t help! This DRUG should NEVER Have been Prescribed! This is Worse that Covid Actually! It’s a Slow Torture that lasts years or a Lifetime ! STAY HEALTHY AS POSSIBLE & u will be able to function but probably not able to work for at least a year? 🦋 Resting the brain is The best Thing ! Stress agitates symptoms! Good Luck & hope they find something to give us all RELIEF while trying to get off this deadly Drug & be able to feel better as we HEAL🙏 I just take Tylenol for my headaches!

My problem is that my BP Spikes super high. I tapered and ignored all the other symptoms and kept going but once that BP SPIKES and refuses to come down, I have to STOP and it's been near three weeks and still won't come down. Dr. put me on Beta Blockers and even with them, BP is still stubborn and refuses to come down. I UPDOSED and God only knows if I can even continue to taper with the BP going nuts. All heart tests show I'm heart healthy. GO figure.

Hi Robert. The fact that you are enduring the various symptoms of tapering tells me you have a strong character. I have been tapering off 30 mgs of valium for what feels like a lifetime (6+ years). I recently went from 5mg to 3.5 and as you know its not easy. I look back at how severe my symptoms were and although it is still hard, I can feel my body healing. Lots of meditation to calm myself down. When I'm experiencing the fear, dread, anxiety, whatever I tell my self I am feeling my gaba receptors healing and growing back and visualize it. I enjoy virtual reality and there are some amazing meditation and relaxion programs that have helped a lot. Stay positive, we will all beat this one day. I hope that helps.

Going nightly to NA, doing Mind,Body,Soul was my main focus. Finally got to a point where I stopped beating myself up over my life decisions. And recently fell a bit backwards not anywhere near what I was but have lost focus on what I need to do. There are always tons of excuses I can use on why but losing my job due to COVID didn't help. Yes, I’ve only read small amounts but mostly all the things I’ve read speed up GABA b receptors. I’ve really thought of trying SEMAX for the BDNF benefits and almost willing to try Stellate Gaglion Block only offered in Chicago. It doesn’t help GABA receptors but does reboot the sympathetic nervous system I’m constantly in. Thank you for so much you do !!! I know you say you are paying it forward but you are doing so much more. God bless you are your beautiful family.

Benzos should NEVER be prescribed!!!... My anxiety is much worse after being on ativan. The worst thing is the extreme thirst. I'm so scared to keep drinking so much water for fear of going into seizures from diluting my blood salts even though I drink electolyte solution. Only a few hours after drinking the solutions I'm ragingly thirsty again. Chewing gum really helps with the dry throat. I NEVER experienced any senior brain fog before I took ativan. I'm so afraid that I've damaged what was my really good brain. :(

I must say that this just makes me extra worried. I go to a 70 year old psychologist specialist because of my p.t.s.d and other stuff. I have all the symptoms on that list. So I guess I also have C.P.T.S.D??? My therapist is a very skilled and nice man. But I don't think he knows about all this. The only person who can help me is me. And I am not very good at that. Wish I could get benzo strips. My doctor believes what he has learned in med school. "Just tapering down during a few months and you will be fine" No! It will not work. It will damage my brain and central nervous system. I feel very alone in all this. In Norway you don't get "strong" medication as easy as in the states (I think). And I read about people taking clonazepam because of sleeping disorders. The main problem with benzos, in the fantastic nation you live in, is the nation you live in.
