LOL at all the people complaining because it was audio dubbed. How exactly do you people think music videos are made? This would literally be impossible to sound like a studio when you're moving through a house. Footsteps, background actors, random farts, etc. Not to mention the artists are constantly running around when off camera to get in the next position. They'd be out of breath and sound like crap. If you're looking for more one-shot videos Kurt Hugo Schneider is a master at the technique, and yep, he dubs too. Can we also talk about how Sara Niemietz absolutely killed it in this song? Except there are cuts. So called one takes are never one takes. It's cleverly hidden cuts in editing that make you think that it's one cut, while in reality it's bunch of 10-20 second takes stitched up together to make it look like a one take. If you guys do something like this again, a cool twist might be to show the progression through classic music styles as the song goes on and on. And therefore also visuals and perhaps environment. Just a thought. But seriously, WELL DONE!!!
You do realize this was all done on one take, yes? If they do another one-take video they could do, at the most, the style changes musically (like the evolution of Pop music video done by Pentatonix as an example). To change set design and wardrobes would defeat the purpose of the "one-take" challenge though (in my opinion).
Randy Smith you’d be amazed at how quick a costume change can be done. Not one person was in the shot the entire time, once they were off camera, they do a quick change.
I really enjoy that Scott Bradlee has very little ego. This video is the only one I've seen that focuses on him and only for a second. He gives a wink and a nod and it's only so the hornline can disappear around the corner. Notice he always lists himself at the bottom of the billing after the other performers. Great guy.

I came back to this song once more after two years. Still brilliant. I actually got to hear Scott Bradley sing a bit in the chorus in the end. (These headphones are good!)
Robb Reel haha that's funny I shot it we actually choreographed points if we needed to cut but this was the final take and outside of a digital zoom it was all one long take. Source: me I carried the camera, lit the rooms, and sang along the whole time. PMJ is super talanted
@@ClintByrne I am not doubting the incredible talent, nor that each take was one long shot, but no amount of insistence will convince me that it's a single, unedited take when I can see the seams.
Robb Reel I totally understand because we choreographed places (doorway, back-wipe, doorway, curtain) we could cut but in the end there weren't any! Personally I would have liked one more take because as the DP/cam op I can see all the times the Movi was fighting me and some other technical details, but the dancers, extras, band, singers were working really hard and I was relieved when the director called a wrap. However due to time constraints and fear that it wouldn't work during the planning we had to have cut points as a backup plan. In the end we did 17.5 takes and they used the last one, I get why you think there are cute because we planned it but luckily we had everything workout so we could use one take which was always my goal because I love real one takes. I want to do another one like this with the band in the future tho we learned a lot doing this. And they keep putting out inspiring new songs.
Hear me out. A musical called Postmodern Jukebox. a rich girl who has yet to find her passion in life, and has someone who has just graduated with a prestigious engineering degree but found that they have no love for the career, and the grandchild of a world famous who has alienated themselves from the arts because they were discouraged by the pressure to be like their grandmother and the negative effects of Fame. They are all brought together by a very young and passionate jazz musician. Most people disregard him as a naive 20 yr old kid who has yet to realize how impossible it is to make it big. However, as they each meet him during small performances, he convinces them to dabble in music with him for a short while. They learn that he is driven entirely by his love for music and performing, and they all return to him, inspired by the joy he takes in his work, despite it's poor rewards. The story follows them as they give in completely to their love for performing and become a jazz/funk band. They don't become famous immediately, but they choose their happiness over riches and gradually leave their old lives and views behind. The musical is set in the 60s, but the soundtrack is entirely postmodern jukebox covers of modern songs. This one in particular could be a recurring tune, it can be the first one they sing together as a group, and it fades out to show them each skipping out on their daily work to come together and rehearse. Idk I would pay to see that.
this is my new favourite thing. the actual cover itself, the vibe, the direction, Ginger Rogers resurrected from the dead... AMAZING. and it's not often i lose my shit over a cover but you have done such an epic job! The all-in-one-take gives me such Vincente Minnelli vibes too. Just gorgeous.

Ikr! Brilliant.
Why the hell doesn't she get top billing in the credits? Come on?!

I didn't read the "one take" part in the title and whenever she walked in and the camera started following her, I was shook
Haha i think that was the intended effect.
@@ClintByrne It's not really one take. The editing seams are evident if one knows where to look. It's still an impressive piece.
This is my favorite PMJ video! Love the way it's shot and staged! So original!
Big kiss 4 everyone!!! All of u r just grate! REally big thank u!
HEEEEEELL YEAAAAH
I guess that means "I looooove this!"!

Always amazes me how a new musical arrangement can completely transform the feel of a song. Fantastic.
Sara Niemietz is probably my favourite PMJ vocalist, maybe not as well known as some of the others, but she has an amazing smooth voice.
The beginning was so surprising. Brilliantly executed. Absolute genius.
