      The leap from PS1 to PS2 still blows my mind to this day. I remember 14 year old me refusing to believe a game could look that good staring at screenshots of it prior to release lol.
      There’s a reason Digital Foundry called it the greatest generational graphical leap for a video game series of all time.

      He used an emulator for GT3, so it can theoretically run faster and higher quality than an original PS2. It also looks HD to me, but I suppose it could be 480p with full anti-aliasing.

      Honestly, I disagree. Okay first up, I would much rather have that banked corner instead of the hairpin, any day of the week. But that downhill flatout run to the line is genuinely god tier. In a perfect world, they'd have kept that banked corner but reprofiled the last section the way they did in GT7

      it mostly had to do with the way old tube CRTs worked. Simplifying a little, these old TVs didn't displayed a picture through pixels but through lines. Due to the way these lines were made and lit up, they would blend the rough edges and atenuate the wobbliness of the ps1. GT1 indeed looked, in a way, better back then compared with its representation on modern screens :)

    While i do like the new layout in GT7, my only complaint is the enviorment. In GT3 you actually had the feel of racing through a massive forest, with trees almost covering the track at some parts. A gorgeous landscape. In GT7 you're racing in the border of a field with only a (not that deep either) forest section. Everything else, just nice.

      Think about it - maybe it is for safety reasons? Tracks in real life don't have much trees near the road due to maybe marshals' ease of access, and having too many trees could hinder medical cars and such. While I would agree with how downgraded it is (quite a disappointment), these redesigns make it feel like an actual track that was built in the US (Trial) and Switzerland (Deep Forest).

    Nothing better than nailing that last corner before the home stretch on the final lap. Flat out, no brakes, clip the corner, sliding to the shoulder. I had a few close calls that all came down to that last corner. I don't think many people realize that if you approach wide, clip the corner and exit wide you can just hoon it straight through without lifting. Shame they changed it in 7. Even thought it is faster it's much smoother. Just doesn't quite have that same thrill to it. I think that last hairpin just takes away too much.

    I noticed there are some distinct differences between GT3 & 4. In GT3, there are two blocked off support roads between the 1st and 3rd Turn that both don't appear in GT4, also the tarmac on the inside of Turn 4 is actually grass in GT3. Also there's sand in GT4 on the right side where's another blocked off support road in GT3 after the 2nd tunnel followed by a further support road not appearing in GT4 either. Furthermore, before the 3rd Tunnel, GT3's version features overhanging trees while they appear to be cut completely in GT4. In General, GT3 Features more trees which are also closer to the track than GT4, a bit "darker" tone and also more immersive light beams shining through the treetops in the middle section. Therefore, GT3 gives you the feeling of actually Racing, as the Name implies, inside a "Deep Forest", while GT4 seems to be more modern and closer to an actual rl Racetrack. I also noticed that GT3's version is almost a direct continuation of the PS1 era Variants, while the Version showed on GT4 seems to be a sort of an overhaul with the aim of giving the track a more "modern" and overall more serious look. Interestingly, the Same can be said about Trial Mountain imo (e.g. removing the Yellow Markers on the tarmac).

    Track modifications sometimes really are unnessicery, I loved the original bus stop chicane at the Spa circuit. I want to know why they felt the need to modify a perfectly good track in GT7.

      Because of eSports, the sharper corner before the tunnels makes it trickier to get a good run down the straight, while the final hairpin gives a chance to overtake before the finish line

    • @Nascarfan1896

      What does this have to do with spa? Nonetheless, I like the redesign, I honestly love the final run to the line as it has a huge sense of speed, The new hairpin and longer straight provide a place to pass. Just a lot faster

      They weren't. It's an artefact of shitty emulator upscaling. The polygons' vertices all have to be in the centre of a pixel on PSX, and bad emulators upscale the res but keep the polygons snapping to the low resolution. On real hardware/low res it wasn't noticeable.

    Before I clicked on the video, I thought the track looked familiar. Cut to the first turn and my smile faded a little, due to the memories of restarting a certain license test (GT2? 3? 4? Can't really remember) for the umpteenth time, trying to get a gold medal.

    Right I've figured out the problem of recent GT over the years - there's too much junk on the screen. Look at GT3 - the speedometer and gear number is the most significant HUD which takes up the screen, and its tucked away in the corner. The car is the most important thing is allowed the majority of the CENTER. It looks and feels so much better than the others.

    • @MFullaStyle
      @MFullaStyle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can remove the Hud in the settings for all GT games

    • @rosaria8384
      @rosaria8384 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. The GT HUD needs to be customizable, I really don't like seeing my consistent lap times unless I'm doing practice runs, and the delta wouldn't matter unless it's a serious competition.

    Sure, GT7's one **Looks** the best graphics-wise, but it doesn't Effuse the Atmosphere like it's somewhere Hidden Deep in a Forest, like - in my opinion - Track Bearing " **Deep** Forest Raceway " Name Should emanate. With it's current environment it is more deserving of a " Riverside Forest Raceway " Title
