    How are you tracking the conversions in your website?

    Dude this video was so helpful. I have been installing the codes in right for clients over and over. But every now and then a client will make you overthink because they say they install the GTM tag right but it shows up installed incorrectly on the tag assistant. This video confirmed that I have still doing things right. Thanks big dog

    Hey Jason great video! How do you set this up if you have a client who has a contact form that doesn't lead to another confirmation page?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a nightmare.... We've worked with a lot of clients using plug-ins that just show a message and the only solution is to try and setup a trigger in GTM based upon that message appearing. I personally tell clients they need to switch to a solution that provides a confirmation page. It's not what they want to hear, but everything else is duct tape and faulty.
      Sorry I haven't found a better solution here

    Hey Jason - great video! Question for you, I have a landing page with a form submit and a phone number that I want to track converions for both. When I first started setting up my Google campaign, Google ads asked me about adding a conversion as part of the process. It then gave me 2 sets of code to install onto my landing page - one for the header and the other for the body - do I need these for a form submit conversion, or is that for other conversion objectives like phone call tracking?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those codes are if you aren't using Tag Manager. Since you have tag manager, you'll first want to add your Remarketing Tag ID, and then follow this conversion tutorial for setting up your conversions. That code isn't for tracking conversions. You'll need to create two separate conversions; one for the form and another for the phone number.
      Follow this guide for setting up the conversions for the form and you'll want to find a different tutorial for setting up call tracking with Google ads. It's a different process than this video.

      @@JasonAWhaling Thanks Jason. So should I remove that tracking code that Google provided from my Leadpages landing pages? If I do that, what code do I put in my landing pages or do I need any code in my landing pages? Thanks

    Hello, thank you for this video I do appreciate it. So for an E-commerce store with multiple products should I just input the url of the order summary of any product while creating the trigger?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is something that is beyond the scope of this simple install. You'l need to create a custom trigger for when a sale is made - your platform should have documents on how to do that since the url will change each time... Your getting into needing a developer at that point.

    Hey Jason, What if I'm creating multiple conversion pages? For instance, I'm tracking if someone purchased from Facebook vs Google, or directly from the site. Should I list those order confirmation pages as separate triggers? or list them with the "+"? I know you said we wouldn't have to use different triggers every time but that slightly confused me. Love the channel also!

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to track them separately, then create separate triggers for them.

    Sorry, I'm confused. For eCommerce, do I need a Tag Manager? I only want to learn if my prospective customer went to my Landing Page and if he or she then purchased (navigated to my Shop page and completed the sale) or navigated away from my website.

      Using Google Site Kit you can directly install Google Analytics and just create events. The advantage of Tag manager comes when you want to start tracking using other platforms like Facebook or Google ads.

    Question for you: Under the Tag Setup section in Google Ads, I do not see the option to Use Google Tag Manager. Therefore I cannot get the conversion ID and name to plug into Google Tag Manager. Can you help?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure why your not seeing that option... You should be able to click to 'install yourself' and pick out the ID you need from the code. It may have a different label now

  • @JonathanLoganClark

    If you already have your Google Ads account linked to your Google Analytics account do you still need to use the Conversion Linker when using Tag Manager to setup Ads conversion tags?
    I am also curious if having both setup at the same time would cause any issues with the data. What do you think?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YES! Please make sure you have both. Your data is going to be so much better having data going directly to Google Ads vs going through analytics.
      Setting up both will not affect the data collection. Totally worth the extra time!

    Hi Jason, have you had cases where the conversion tracking is showing up in the tag assistant chrome extension but when you preview with tag manager (where it shows what tags are fired/not fired), the conversion tracking tags are shown as not being fired?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strange - if it's not showing up in the assistant preview, but in the plug-in, I would start with auditing the trigger. If it's page load; then I'm at a loss without looking at it. I'm sorry I don't have a solution off the top of my head - just where to start trouble shooting

      @@JasonAWhaling I got on the phone with Google and they looked at my GA4 and Google Ads account. The events seemed to be tracking fine there so they said it shouldn't be an issue that the tag manager isn't registering the events.
      But I'll look into the triggers, thanks!

    After setting the conversion tag in gtm it made my website slower

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GTM is pretty lean, not sure why you'd notice a significant change in load time

    • @arslanyousaf9462
      @arslanyousaf9462 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't slow the loading speed of your website , lol..
      Since code is placed on GTM and GTM carries the load of code not your website
