      Thank you for the video !! I have 1 question in general about making all the conversions into Audience. How can i eventually use this converted leads for example, people who visited my services page are warm leads and im converting them with google tag manager and firing the /Services/ page, how do i use them as audience later? This is the only question left for me to complete the all mess. Thank you ahead !!!

    sooooooo rare I ever actually put a like on a video. This is BY FAR the best introduction to setting up GTM for beginners AND techies that are new to GTM. I was putting together some SOP docs for staff - but no need for GTM. I will simply add Jason's video a standard resource that staff can use as a go-to when setting up GTM. After they watch, i will feel very very confident in their step up from beginner to novice - again though, it's great for established techies as a reminder or for when you're just tired and need a refresher. Very well done Jason.

    By far the best video tutorial of its genre. His highlights and point by point emphasis are superior to all the videos regarding this Google Tag Manager installation and related topic.
    It wasn't a hurried video production. This is PURE GOLD.
    If you ever want the BEST tutorials on the mechanics of websites from Designing, Marketing, Software selection, Reviews, etc.. then Jason is your guy.
    No fluff, no B.S. just straight-up gold.

    Nice video. What's the best way for me to know the (sequence of) pages that a user visited before completing my contact form on my website/blog?
    I want users to click on my free consultation landing page link (which sends them to my contact form). I also have contact forms on the sidebar of each page/post. Gravity forms shows me the page/post url on which the contact form was completed. But it doesn't show the urls the user visited before they complete the contact form.
    I tried setting up goal funnels on on Google Analytics but that was exhausting and confusing.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awe, gravity forms 😟 I recommend doing a search on how people have gotten tag manger to work with Gravity forms... it's not easy by any means.... The quick fix is to use UTM parameters for all of your incoming links, and create a separate thank you page for the form. That way you can create a goal for that thank you page and you don't have to worry about trying to get tag manager to work with the form. UTM links incoming will tell analytics the source of everyone hitting the page

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first thing to do would be go back and use preview mode in tag manager to make sure the tags already on your site... And then if the preview is actually there make sure you published it. because if you can see your analytics but not your tag manager that might mean your old install of analytics is still there

    This was great, thank you Jason.
    I do have 2 questions:
    1. With shopify, the "thank you" page is different every time, how do you specify a url?
    2. Do you create a "burn" pixel so that you do not continue to spend remarketing dollars on people that already purchased?
    Thanks Jason!
    Kevin

    • @watchingyou5892
      @watchingyou5892 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kevin, were you able to set up tag manager using a non-premium Shopify plan? What i see here is that tag manager is going to replace all the tracking code; considering that I have FB pixel and google analytics tracking code previously installed to shopify, do i have to manually remove them? Will this results in a pixel data loss?
      Thak you
      Mauro

    • @KevinStock12
      @KevinStock12 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@watchingyou5892 Yes, installing google tag manager just requires pasting a bit of code. But I am using the facebook pixel integration with shopify so not using that with google tag manager (you don't want to double tag the facebook pixel is my understanding - i.e. both google tag manager and shopify)

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) you'll have to use the "url contains" function for the trigger. So GTM knows it's a confirmation page.... You can also reach out to shopify support to get your data layer turned on.
      2) Yes, you can do something like that - an audience of buyers over X number of days so that your remarketing only targets non buyers.

    Solid video Jason, I've put off Tag Manger far too long now and got it down pact with your training! Also, I'm curious to know, what is your protocol when recording training tutorials like this? Do you record the video straight through first and have an editor to do the graphics afterwards? What software do you use for editing? Thanks!

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad your all setup now! Something like this takes a long time since we do it screen-shot by screen-shot; just using Google slides 👍 I used Camtasia to record the screencapture. Our editor uses Adobe Premeire, but everything you saw in this video can be done with screenshot tool, Google Slides, and Camtasia

  • @JansonSmith

    Hey Jason - your tutorials are brilliant. One question I had - is it possible to create an audience within Google Ads / Analytics based on a conversion event? Or do you have to create the audience based on visiting certain domain / page? It seems the latter to me, which is pretty inefficient as you have to basically set up the tag + conversion event to record conversions, then basically do the same again to record an audience. Facebook Ads do it all in one (i.e. you just add the pixel in order to record conversions / audience), so I wondered if Google offers the same?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      🙏Thanks so much! Technically Yes - What you'll run into is Google events are typically based upon a page view anyway... However If I'm understanding what your ultimately going for; then I'd try setting up what your trying to do with Google ads directly and keep Analytics out of the equation. Analytics & Google Ads don't talk to each other as well as they should so your probably going to get better results focusing on using Google ads only to do what your trying to do.

      Without seeing your account, I'm not sure why that isn't showing up for you....Make sure you haven't setup the remarketing tag in the past, because if you have this screen will change and you'd have to go to the previously created tag settings to get your tag ID.

      You mean no tracing in your analytics? That's not good! As long as you can see the tags in tag assistant they are on your site. Also try using the preview mode to insure the tags are firing at the right time....Also check the UA code is for the right account...hopefully one of these helps get you pointed in the right direction 👍

      You can use the GTM code on all of your sites and page building softwares. Not sure I understand your question on custom HTML? @JasonAWhaling  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I'd recommend installing tag manager, checking that everything is working and then removing the old tags.... That's just me though, if your having a ton of traffic then it make make more sense to do it the other way. Just depends on what kind of data inconsistencies you'd rather deal with.

    Superb, easy to follow training for a platform that is far from intuitive! Many thanks. If you have an up to date video that shows how to do the conversion tracking with Facebook that would be the cherry on top - I couldn't figure that out and, (surprise, surprise), GTM doesn't have Facebook conversions as a trigger option. (Can't imagine why!) . :-)

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      😁Awesome!👍
      I'm sorry we couldn't include the FB conversion tracking.... It seems like we change how we do it every 3 months which is why we left it out. The simplest thing you can do to track conversions, is to set it up in your FB ads manager. You can set conversion or a custom audience based upon a page view in your pixel settings inside of your FB ad account.
      Otherwise, you'll have to set up a trigger for a page view of your confirmation page, then add a new tag with the FB conversion code, and set it to fire based upon that trigger.

    • @JasonAWhaling

      For a WordPress site you want it across all of your pages, not manually adding it to each page that you build with elementor... so you need to add it in your theme settings or use a plug-in to add it across your site... But it shouldn't be in the actual page builder itself because you're on WordPress

    Hi Jason and thank you for this amazing content.
    Will i be able to set up tag manager using a non-premium Shopify plan? What I see here is that tag manager is going to replace all the tracking code; considering that I have FB pixel and google analytics tracking code previously installed to Shopify, do I have to manually remove them? Will this results in a pixel data loss?

    • @JasonAWhaling

      You do need to have one of the higher Shopify tiers in order to use Tag Manger. Yes, you'll have to remove the old tags/pixels once tag manager is on your site - I recommend installing GTM and then removing the old ones so you don't lose data - just a few minutes of double counting.

      Happy to help! Good to hear Google Tag Manager is up and running 😁..... If you have access to the site, you should be able to see the UA/Tags/Pixels in the same areas where you placed the Tag Manager code. You can:
      1) Add them to your tag manager
      2) just remove them
      The best route would be to see if you can get direct access to those accounts, because the data already collected should be helpful to your client.
