  • In this video I talk about the good and not so great feats of living with an Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. It has been a little bit over one year of ownership and I thought I would create a review of how it's been so far!

      Not really. Just pointing out things you have to deal with. The Porsche Cayman has more creature comforts while still being faster at around the same price or less so it's an important buying decision imo

      Agree Jordan. A cayman or alpine do not weight 900kg. This is made to be a raw car to enjoy so of course it will lack comfort and connectivity. If you try and make a cayman weigh 900kg it won't have any body panels lol.

      No hate but car like 4c or lotus elise and exige are literally made only for sports driving ,your crazy to use this car for every day ,the whole point is that cars like theese are almost impossible to drive on a every day basis.

      That's the thing. It isn't better than a Cayman on track. I drove both on track and have proof (look around on my channel) and the 4C just gets destroyed by a Cayman in the corners. The 4C has a light front end and understeers a lot because of that as there's not enough grip. I hear you I too wish it was an amazing track car but there are better for less. Most of the complaints are simply life with almost any mid engine car. If you’re focused on how much better it could have been, Italian cars probably aren’t your thing, they’re all like this; your money went into chassis and engine, not to helping you get in and out of the trunk more conveniently.

Everything was built with that in mind. A carbon fiber bucket, the small door cards, the lack of creature comforts, the bucket seats. Everything. The USA cars do have leather pockets for you wallet and phone between the seats and the doors. And for 2019 it does have back up camera. But even the 2016 cars have rear parking sensors. A fully integrated carbon fibre monocoque, only in supercars. Admittedly, I started getting a little upset because for a while, it just seemed like you were "bitching" about it..... but I did watch it until the end, and I appreciate the way you emphasized its beauty and strong points to close out the video.
    I have every intention of purchasing a 4C Spider within the next year..... in white.
    I know full-well that it lacks creature comforts, has a poorly designed and cheap interior, and should by no means be used as a daily driver. But... for the money you get an incredibly sexy car, that performs extremely well on the track. THAT.... is its purpose, and I'm ok with that.
    I am interested to hear if you've had any mechanical issues with it. Alfa isn't exactly known for "reliability", and I expect that to a degree.... but it would be nice to know if you've had any unexpected repairs or issues with it.
    Also... what do you use to care for the cloth roof?

    • @Snowcatsrt
      @Snowcatsrt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! A lot of people don't watch till the end and get frustrated. No mechanical issues whatsoever! The roof is maintained with a car wash I go to so I don't know the exact products they use. The car is good on track but definitely needs more rubber than it gets from the factory. It has little to no mechanical grip from them and the aero doesn't work neither. If you're looking for a track car I would recommend getting a Cayman as it's more suitable out of the box.

      @@Snowcatsrt I have been an early 70's Porsche 914 fanatic since I was in my late teens (and I've owned/built several), but the recent price hike in classic Porsches, plus reliability issues, plus lack of A/C, plus low horsepower..... it's just not feasable anymore. I do understand the shortcomings of the 4C, but fortunately, I do all my own building, restoration, and mods.
      For me.... the 4C and the Exige both capture the "spirit" of the 914, while still having modern comforts like A/C and reliability. The Exige (for some reason) is highly overpriced, and I "suspect" that is because it's compared to the Elise, and hence, justifiably higher. Great car.... but not "that" great. The 4C is much sexier, with significantly better technology.
      Even with all it's shortcomings, it's the perfect car for "me". By the time I get my hands on a piggyback ECU, some decent coilovers and swaybars, and a sticky set of tires.... I'll have it performing the way it should.

    • @Snowcatsrt
      @Snowcatsrt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With that in mind it should perform very well. I'd love to watch a series on the transformation.
      I've been working on a car for my brother which is a Karmann Ghia first version convertible with a modified Porsche 356 engine and a 911 manual gearbox. Never been a huge fan of Porsche however I didn't get the opportunity to drive any of the earlier air-cooled models other than the 964 which was a blast to drive!
      Also check out the Jannarelly that I overviewed in a video. I was invited to their factory for a drive but with the latest circumstances I have to put that on hold.

I am part Italian by origin myself, but when I see you sit like that in the car, the only question comes to mind is, that if you or any other person were in that car driving around 85 mph and were to get in a minor accident, what would be left of you and the passenger? I love small cars too and the car is wonderful, but I sincerely hope they designed the car to withstand accidents that are above 40 mph...wow.....Thank you for posting.

    Really great honest review, actually I am also interested in the reliability. After 1 year of owning (actually 3 years as of now if you yet to sell it), how often does it break down? Really interested in getting one while it is still around but don't want to spend more time fixing than driving.

    • @Snowcatsrt
      @Snowcatsrt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was extremely reliable. I already sold the car as we don't have roads where I could properly enjoy it. I miss it but didn't have a proper garage to store it during off season. Looking back it was a great car with so many good memories.
      There's not much to break down in that. I think the weakest link was the gearbox but I have a friend who has had one for several years and still no issues. Would be best to ask other owners to get a broader spectrum though! Have a nice day

The 4c is made to be a raw sportscar that weighs 900kg. I dnt think any of the things spoken about are shortcomings just a whine lol you cannot buy one of the rawest sportscars on the msrket then say its windscreen fluid is annoying to replace, or it is hard to get in and out of, or it has a lot of road noise, or the luggage compartment gets hot... like cmon lol
