Rog! Thank you EVER so much for doing this vid, I absolutely adore your hotel stay videos as you probably know, particularly the BTH series, but this is arguably your best ever production, I am intrigued, beyond excited, amazed by this revelatory piece. I'm someone, much travelled yes, but someone who actually enjoys the 'rigours' of 'doing the Underground', the repetitive nature of it, familiarity of it too but still a novelty as I'm not a Londoner and rarely visit. But despite all of that saw LCY as the traditional way into town, the way of avoiding the crowds. More recently the DLR became the alternative little-known route of choice, but now you have just opened up a whole new dimension and adventure to me, like I said thank you so much. I share your boyish enthusiasm for sure! I have been in the process the last few weeks of finalising in my head as it happens a trip to the capital for the New Year and just seeking a tweak to the plans to make the trip over and above the norm, something different, unique to before and here you have just provided the missing piece of the jigsaw. The cable car ride sold me, and then you went and threw in the speedboat for good measure, oh my word man, you've no idea how much this has sparked my imagination. I was actually one of the first passengers back in the 1980's to ever use London City Airport and i forever after regretted not using the riverboat transfer up the Thames that existed at that time that took you right to the airport terminal door more or less. I took a London black cab instead assuming if anyone would know where the newly functioning Silverwood Airport was a London cabbie would. How wrong could I be! Long story short I arrived at the airport that time 20 minutes after my flight was due to depart, several wrong turns later... So I've always had ideas and plans to use the River Thames as a modus operandi but wasn't aware that this was one option in 2024, so yes thank you so much again. I associate London with steamy sticky hot tube trains, packed full of people, no seats available, strap hanging all the way - we've all done it but youve opened up a whole new world here. You seemed to have availed of a period of time when very few people were travelling, particularly on the speedboat with 8 passengers and getting a gondola to yourself, I'm not sure I will be that fortunate but you have definitely given me a whole new perspective into the pleasure of going through London to my final destination and i will be following your lead on that, have no doubt! 🙂 I'm even prepared to overlook the fact you've done a Tears for Fears gig 😂 haha, im joking of course! (Very good era and music choice as well man). Thanks so much Rog, Ive watched this vid 4 times over now on repeat play and still it feels a bit mesmeric. Now I've seen it all. 🙂👌👍😮
@@RogEdwardsTVI've decided to await better weather and use this exciting means of transport into London in Spring/Summer (if we get such a thing!). I'm over in Feb but feel the experience will be even better in warmer conditions. I'm a huge fan of London City Airport but not their businessman prices so I decided for Feb to use the only London airport I've never been to, Southend. Have you ever used it? That will be a nice change, EasyJet apparently fly Airbuses in. On that trip I'm also going to fulfil another ambition and stay at one of those Hub by Premier Inn properties. Again, usually immense cost in the centre of London but I managed to secure the one in Shoreditch for £44 the night before my flight. Very happy with that, you can pay 3 times that very easily, and I'm really looking forward to it. I half fancy pod or capsule hotels for their quirkiness but couldn't resist this Hub offering for that sort of money and they are small rooms but nothing like as claustrophobic as a capsule! Maybe you've used these places Rog but if not I'll let you know my experience of it. 👍
@ The only time I’ve been to Southend Airport was when we got diverted (for reasons I can’t remember) on a flight to LCY. I used to stay at the Premier Inn Hub on Brick Lane quite frequently - it was my go to hotel but then the prices went through the roof! I did a review in a very early vlog - here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/OyAiQvTpZNQ/w-d-xo.html
I loved this. I visit London often and have never done the cable car or the Uber boat. I'm now tempted to take a day out soon to try both! The boat looks like it will be my favourite. Thanks for another great video.
That was insane Roger.... I definitely want to do that especially speed boat an cable car.... hey you dropped a good one again mate.... enjoy your holiday my friend 😊 Richard in Newcastle upon Tyne
Just when I thought I'd focus more on Scotland and Wales on my next visit to Britain, Daddy Rog shows me a couple of interesting toys in London. POOOKE!!!
Docklands light railway for me because it’s level boarding so the disabled would get on as it’s level boarding same with the boat 🛥️ also from what I saw. So I’m really impressed there. 👍
We did the cable car the other direction - that is steep going up... Went on similar boats on the East River in NYC - it's a great way to get about, plus see from a different vantage point. Ideal that it is part of the travel network
What a novel way to reach Central London from LCY, Roger ! In fact a few years after LCY opened the airport did offer a river boat service from, I think, Westminster pier to an informal docking location along the main road between LCY and Canning Town station. (I travelled on it as part of a press trip) At the docking point pax disembarked, walked the short distance to a waiting coach which them departed a mile or less to LCY. Unfortunately it didn't survive too long because of the excessive journey time along the river (conventional river boats at that time) compared to taking a taxi (no DLR or Jubilee Line back then) You have to remember that, in those days, LCY was a true business airport with limited flights on which all seats were sold at a business class price.
The "Good Hotel" which is next to the cable car I have stayed in and done a review on, if you stay there you can also get a discount on travel on the Cable Car, which was ideal for when I saw the Hollywood Vampires at the o2 Arena London in July 2023. We also did a video covering this when it was sponsored by Emirates and had the little shop & Emirates experience back in 2022 before the contract ended. A very great Vlog Roger, very enjoyable! - Tyler
It’s like on the Underground where you tap in and out with an Oyster Card. Now you can do the same with a credit card. It must register the entrance and exit station and the computer must do the maths. That’s why it’s important to tap in and out to get the right charge for your journey. ☺️
@@RogEdwardsTV to be honest I don’t even know what Uber is or does transport wise. I’ve been over 60 for so long the subject has never come up. I went on a cable car in Romania a while back: didn’t like it - swinging about high over the houses made me feel very uneasy. I’ll stick to rail. You can actually get from City all the way to Heathrow FREE even if you nip on the Elizabeth Line. If you are over 60 that is Gatwick you have to pay from East Croydon
Looks exciting in what used to be a rundown area of London. More of an eyesore would have been The Sphere had it been allowed to be placed in E London.
The Uber boats are a great concept. The downside is that it's nonlonger a means to get about for commuters. Bloody tourists clog it up with sightseeing 😢
Been on that DLR. Good thing about it is no drivers to go on strike. There has been a lot of cash spent on that area with new flats going up. Whilst down there, look around Battersea Power Station . The place is always buzzing especially at weekends.
Great video and the Boat was built down in Tasmania!!! Great advert for Incat!
Cheers! 🙏🏻

the cable car honestly looks so much fun :D
It’s sooo different! Great fun! 🤩
What a lovely route :)
Thanks for watching! 😀
Another great video Rog. Given me lots of ideas for my next trip down to the smoke!
Thanks for much for watching! Enjoy your next trip! 😀
Love your video's Rog. 👌👏
Thanks so much. Appreciate your support!

Uber Boat was my favourite, but the Cable Car looked great as well. Need to check both of them out myself, next time in London. Nice one! 😊 👍
Thanks Alan. The cable car feels quite chilled and serene. The Uber Boat is fast and adrenaline packed! 😂
Never heard of Uber Boats before. They do look FAST! 😮
Definitely worth a go! 😀
I always use to go with my Mum when the tennis was on at the O2. Some of the tennis players use to arrive at the O2 by boat.
Thanks for watching! 😀
Amazing! I made the same trip and return from London Towers to Greenwich but it was by ferrie, definitely much slower than these! Must be fun 😂❤
It’s a pity it doesn’t go all the way to the airport otherwise I’d be on it all the time! 😂

Uber Boats seem to have a good set of services for disabled access. 50% fares as well. Thanks for watching. 😀
Good news - the cable car has spectacular views! Bad news.....of the Millennium Dome!
Indeed! 😂

Thanks Alex. The Uber Boats do go out to Woolwich Arsenal a few times a day but not often enough to make it a true alternative to the DLR. 😀

Thanks so much Tyler! You can tell how excited I got in them boats. I’ll check out your hotel review too! 🙏🏻
@@RogEdwardsTV Thanks Roger, I did a quick trip on the Thames Clipper earlier this year, not done a video with it, but I found it really enjoyable!
Hi Roger, so how does paying for travel work. How does swiping your credit card know how much to charge

Does DLR mean Driver Less Railway?
Ha! Probably does! 😂
Docklands light railway fyi
@@1trebor2024 it was a joke lol 😂
I’ve been to 3 WWE wrestling shows at the O2 arena 😊
😂 A little different to Tear for Fears - but I bet they were good shows!
@@RogEdwardsTV It was indeed. I wouldn’t mind going to a Tears for Fears concert either 😀
Yes: but if you’re an over 60 Londoner, getting into town from City Airport is FREE
So do you go all the way by DLR for FREE or do you go by Cable Car and Uber Boat too? 😂

I always thought that O2 arena was sort of an eyesore. It's so out of place. It's something you'd see in Las Vegas, not London.
I think I must have got used to it! 😂

Thanks! It’s amazing how much has been built there and how much is still being built. ☺️
Yes no driver but there is another staffer onboard who keeps an eye on things and is needed to reverse the train at the terminus.
