I was on the ferry that morning , what a wonderful day. We spotted dolphins on the way over on that very trip. We returned later in the day on the evening ferry and what a stunning journey wonderful colours in the sky and a full moon lighting the Firth on arrival back at Ardrossan.
Absolutely stunning Roger..... you always pick the best place's...... you've got me hungry for this place. The isle of bute not sure if I spelt that correctly is another stunning place Richard in Newcastle upon Tyne
Wow stunning, Roger. Brought back memories of trips to Arran. Yes, it's known as Scotland in Minature! Had a glorious day for your visit. Yes next time need to spend a few days there! Lochranza, Whiting Bay, Lamlash, in fact anywhere on Arran, including Brodick Castle, well worth seeing. Glad you liked your short visit. By the way, although I like cheese, detest macaroni cheese! Thanks for great vlog. Nice one! 😊 👍
There's nothing like getting up early and travelling over to Arran on a bright clear day - It's a lovely island but the crossing is equally as enjoyable. Oh - and MV stands for motor vessel!
Lamlash is a great place to visit and Lochranza. The whisky distillery is there also recommend the Arran 10 year old. I did Goat fell also brilliant. Holy island also worth a visit. Arran is so underrated I drove around the whole island. Got a cottage in Lamlash and stayed the week. Loads to do !
@RogEdwardsTV oh look up drumadoon point and kings caves. Plus a very unique thing an island where they get the stone to make the Ice curling things... Scotland’s curling stone island. Ailsa Craig you can see it from Lagg distillery amazing on a clear sunny day like you had.
Spent a few moments in Ardrossan in the 1970's as a wee boy! The harbour has changed significantly since I was a wee boy. The dockside cranes have gone, they used to unload/load sulphur there! You should try Kilwinning, that's where I was born and stayed until I was 9 in 1980, moved to Edinburgh until 2022, now in Calderwood near Livingston. Also try and see Kirknewton which is just doon the road from me.
The current Arran ferry terminal is actually fairly recent. It opened in 2018. As far as I know the old terminal is still standing but is unused and it’s tiny in comparison
It's not too far to walk from the other Ardrossan stations to the harbour.Quite a lot of those Scottish islands have ferry terminals right next to the railway stations .
Calmac and Cheese highly recommended, wow did you not get the very best of the wether? We went to Arran in the 1980’s, they say it’s Scotland in miniature. The West coast of the island very different from the East, whilst the North is different from the South. We spent a week, including which we also visited Brodic Castle and went up Goatfell. I believe Stagecoach run buses around the island these days. Though when we went in the 1980’s we took our car but we did use the buses too so Dad could have a break too.
What a perfect day!!!!
That was summer! 😂

Given the colours during the day I bet the evening skies were stunning. I think we picked the best day of the year! Thanks for watching.
The west of Scotland is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
…especially on a perfect sunny day like that! ☀️
On the one sunny day we get
😂
Wow! Stunning! What a crossing, what a vessel and what a beautiful day 😊😮
Incredible wasn't it. Maybe the best day of the year, weatherwise. I was very lucky. 😀

Traveled across to on similar day, got sunburnt, midday boat trip without a cloud in the sky. 🏴😃☀️
Ha ha! I had a tan line under my hat at the end of the day! 😂 Thanks for watching.

Cheers Alan. There seem to be some nice hotels there for a future stay, though I think you need to book well in advance. 😀
Rare summer weather in northern UK! Lovely day! I like the way you show your country. Are there other british youtubers that does the same?
Thanks so much. 😀

@@RogEdwardsTV I did Bute and Arran. Isle of Mull and Isle of staffa. Staffa would be great for a TH-cam video.
@HistoryNiche cheers. Added to the list for next year! 😀

Wemyss Bay is a particularly stunning station and one of my favourites. 🚈

Thanks Walter! I missed the bus to the Castle because I was filming the Ferry departure and there wasn't another bus until the next ferry! 😊
What a gorgeous place Scotland is, the only "bad" thing is their accent, especially in the north. I wish they had your accent.😋
😮 I've lived in Scotland for 31 years, but I'm originally from the North West of England hence how I talk! 😊
That is what makes the UK what it is. Different regional accents. Nothing wrong with the Scottish accent. Accept those Fifers😄😄
@@YARROWS9😮😂
@@YARROWS9 Yeah, I totally agree. Btw, I was only joking when I said it was a "bad" thing though.
