So just to reiterate. The US Navy got clapped so hard in the Pacific (despite Japan not being ready at all) that it just hid behind the British in the Mediterranean all game. The Japanese Navy then followed the US Navy all the way to the Mediterranean just to clap them one last time. Whew.

I look at the intro text stating the U.S.A. did not have the ability to mobilize in 1938 and declared war anyways, and I instantly think "It was Dressel playing America, wasn't it?" Dressel never disappoints.
When I played as Japan against an AI and declared an early war, the naval battles went in my favour too. Once you take all the islands up to Hawaii and any possible allies, such as Indonesia, Australia and New Zeeland, there just isn't much the US navy can do and they're busy building dockyards. The truly brutal part of that war comes from taking the West Coast, then pushing east through all the deserts and mountains on 40% attrition. There are so many islands, it may be worth it to set up multiple invasions with one weak division just to take the unoccupied ones.
