Thanks Steve, I want to say you were a lucky lad to survive. But luck has nothing to do with it. Alcohol addiction is a hard road to travel and your story back from near death is a testament to the will to survive. I read your posts every morning in NZ. It gives me just another reason to stay sober. Thank you.

I quit by myself. 13 years ago September 17 2011. I knew I could do by myself and I did. My family are so proud of me. It was so easy to quit because I couldn’t stand the hangovers anymore!
Recognisable.... Thankfully I never reached that level of illness, in fact that's my biggest motivation, I am aware that point of irreversible damage may just happen, even hardly noticeable because let's face it, we're in denial most of the time..... I know the Freeman well, spend time there with my son for his lung transplant.... As for friends dropping like flies? Yeah, about 6 between Oct last year and May this year, and Ducie was the last one of that whole batch of old friends, and it hit me hard. 6 weeks ago my brain finally switched around, finally realised nobody is going to help, nobody can take the pain away, and I stopped drinking and I know I won't again! ❤ The struggle is always an individual one though.....
