I'd say stage 5. I used to run from love and fear it. I'm very introverted and dislike most people due to bad past experiences, but then I met the most amazing human being of my life who was patient and kind and empathetic. We went through some deeply hard times and made it out the other side with time and understanding and communication. We still have some hard times, but there's nothing I am more grateful for than our strong bond and commitment. It changed my life. I wish that for everyone.
@@Psych2go i have been abused for the majority of my life and we both have mental health diagnoses so it was all about understanding each other and trying to see where the other person is coming from. I try to motivate him to do something with his day and he gives me the kindness and respect i had always had to fight for before. The reason it works is mostly because we love and respect each other to know that no fight is worth ruining a healthy great relationship and once you realise that the silly petty arguments about who washed up last fade away. I just got in a relationship this week man. Update: Nevermind. We broke up yesterday. He said he doesn’t feel right being in a relationship. It hurts and unfair cause we had a really great friendship. I know I deserve so much better.
Together 12 years. We are at the stability stage. You cannot change someone else. You love them for who they are (and respect their boundaries) or you walk. You’re not going to get everything you want in a relationship. In a healthy relationship you will get what you NEED emotionally and physically but it won’t always be all that exciting. You have to learn to appreciate the little things and the little moments. We have a beautiful family life. But it doesn’t look how I imagined it. I hate how much time I wasted trying to change her. She never did change and never will. In the end I feel that I had to be the one to change but again you can’t keep score. I may have had to change more in certain respects but maybe she works harder in other areas. At this point I just appreciate our beautiful family. I recognize I choose to be with her and love her despite what I see as her “flaws”. (Whether something is a flaw or an attribute is entirely a matter of perspective anyway. Some things that are flaws in certain instances are positive attributes at other times.)

I think it's important to mention that euphoria and commitment are often confused since what seems like choosing to be with someone whilst acknowledging and accepting their flaws is more often than not ignoring someone's flaws or dismissing them as insignificant or tolerable.

Honestly if you are truly in love with someone their flaws should not matter one bit. My boyfriend and I are past all these stages but like you said in the last bit we do go back and do alot of these stages again. I have never experienced true happiness until I found him. I sometimes feel like these stages are not only one big sort of stairway but also a lot of small sorts of cycles that repeat each time you two discover something new within your partner or about the relationship dynamics.

Studying psychology I loved how scientist (usually theorist, of course) loved putting things into stages: X stages of grief, X stages of childhood, X stages of love… and somewhere at the end of the course they tell you that it all depends and really a huge number of patients will not go through these stages. It was still nice to listen, though!
It seemed we went almost straight to stage 2 with a lot of fights. We broke up and are back together now for the big test. For now everything is better than ever before, having worked out most issues. Now we can work on stability and revisit stage 1 that we seemed to have skipped.

I think the third stage we've been friends for years and have always liked each other. about 6 months ago we got into a relationship at first it was really intense I did forget some of the traits that aren't the best and just expected him to change which was dumb like the first stage😅 then was the second stage when i was getting clingy and i thought he didn't like me anymore but he is also really bad at expressing his feelings and that's when we got to the third stage I've learned not to be insecure or possessive because both of need our space and we're both really busy with our work and school he's learned to be more considerate of taking time to be with me. So we're learning to compromise. I think that both of us really want our relationship to work hopefully we can get to the other stages Especially the sixth stage I think we would work great together❤️
This is very good. My ex-boyfriend and I stayed at the second stage. He was keeping me on the side and then I started to shake him off of me using aggressive words, unfortunately. He has been abusive and using my need for family to invite me to family gatherings where he belittled me. At the same time, he treated me very badly and overcompensated with sentimentality. He has a dry sense of humor sometimes - sarcastic and offensive and threatening. I wasn't aware that I was his girlfriend; I felt as his placeholder companion. Then, I realized how he played with me and it made me angry. He said he would have married me.

Stage 2. My partner and I have been together for over 10 months now. I am the needy one, my partner still spends time with me but not as much as she used to. A lot of relationships end right as the second stage begins because reality does hit. I found this true when I was younger. People crave to constantly feel the euphoria...sometimes when the first stage ends, it feels as if the partner has fallen out of love with ya. Most of the time, one of the partners has moved onto the next stage, while the other still lags behind. This will cause a lot of conflict and misunderstanding that leads up to a break up. I'm not sure if this helps at all... But I wish you the best. You can do it. Remember communication is key. ❤
Same here. For some reason I very rarely got the honeymoon butterflies but used to see relationships as work from the word go - but in a good way; opportunities to become more self-aware and support my partner in his work to do the same. For me, my primary issue was unaddressed childhood conditioning of thinking it was somehow my job to carry the greater load in relationships that had me settling for unsuitable partners who weren't pulling their weight. Now that I've seen through it, know who I am, what I deserve and the kind of man I look forward to sharing myself with, I'm really looking forward (and hella nervous) to step into a whoooole new way of being in relationships. I experience things a little differently since I'm asexual and value companionship over anything else, but I can still see how a lot of these have applied to my romantic dating. Just like in life as a whole, there are patterns of challenges, and overcoming, and it's in those challenges that you learn a lot about someone.

My ex and I really liked each other but we lacked communication. I didn't know how to deal with it and I thought we wouldn't be able to fix it, so I dumped him. I miss him and I made a mistake, but it's too late, he's with someone now. Communication is always key to a relationship.

Like I'd say, "I don't like it when you do this" and he would say, "okay, what can I do to make things better." You just have to be open minded sometimes and communicate. Now, we are doing really good with each other and are very happy!

Honestly if you are truly in love with someone their flaws should not matter one bit. My boyfriend and I are past all these stages but like you said in the last bit we do go back and do alot of these stages again. I have never experienced true happiness until I found him. He always tells me the same thing. It's fantastic.
I sometimes feel like these stages are not only one big sort of stairway but also a lot of small sorts of cycles that repeat each time you two discover something new within your partner or about the relationship dynamics.

Studying psychology I loved how scientist (usually theorist, of course) loved putting things into stages: X stages of grief, X stages of childhood, X stages of love… and somewhere at the end of the course they tell you that it all depends and really a huge number of patients will not go through these stages. It was still nice to listen, though!
It seemed we went almost straight to stage 2 with a lot of fights. We broke up and are back together now for the big test. For now everything is better than ever before, having worked out most issues. Now we can work on stability and revisit stage 1 that we seemed to have skipped.

Once, I was in a relationship with a guy that I liked for three years! He was absolutely perfect, to me he could do no wrong. Once we started dating, I saw every fault he had and I even tried to ignore them or tried dealing with them by telling him about them. They were very toxic faults, so I had to let him go because he denied everything and said that I was just stressed out by school work.

I think the third stage we've been friends for years and have always liked each other. about 6 months ago we got into a relationship at first it was really intense I did forget some of the traits that aren't the best and just expected him to change which was dumb like the first stage😅 then was the second stage when i was getting clingy and i thought he didn't like me anymore but he is also really bad at expressing his feelings and that's when we got to the third stage I've learned not to be insecure or possessive because both of need our space and we're both really busy with our work and school
he's learned to be more considerate of taking time to be with me. So we're learning to compromise. I think that both of us really want our relationship to work hopefully we can get to the other stages

This is very good. My ex-boyfriend and I stayed at the second stage. He was keeping me on the side and then I started to shake him off of me using aggressive words, unfortunately. He has been abusive and using my need for family to invite me to family gatherings where he belittled me. At the same time, he treated me very badly and overcompensated with sentimentality. He has a dry sense of humor sometimes - sarcastic and offensive and threatening. I wasn't aware that I was his girlfriend; I felt as his placeholder companion. Then, I realized how he played with me and it made me angry. He said he would have married me.

I think we're between stages 3 and 4. Things can be a little rocky, and he makes me angrier than anyone else. But he also makes me happier than anyone else, loves me like no other, and makes my world a better place to live in. He makes me mad, boy does he ever, but I love him. A lot.

All my relationships in the past have never been able to conquer stage 3 as much as I try to pretend they were all serious and I was committed with all of them.
I'm at the 2nd stage and it happens very often😌And it scares me. We are pretty different with certain things and had pretty big stuff happen. Currently going through one too
Id say the wake up stage, but the thing is we never argue because we communicate to each pthwr everything. We have had a couple misunderstandings here and there but they always get sorted out the same day. Thing is though im not exactly in a good head space rn and constant thoughts of not being good enough and other trust related factors have been surfacing. Im very lucky to have my angel with me as she's helped me grow and better myself. I just want to be able to help her as much as she has helped me and make her the happiest she can be.

Lol, I think me and my partner are creeping out of uforia and into the Wakeup Call. But we haven't hade a huge fight yet and im really thankful for that. We are working through our little quirks we both share, Like for example: my Girlfriend finds it really weird that I like Peanut butter and Chocolate sandwiches.(cant blame her tho lol) but we had a conversation about it and she revealed that she likes Pb&J sandwiches, well. I personally hate those. And then we laughed way too hard over it and ate our sandwiches. Coming to a silent agreement that we like different things

Stage 2. My partner and I have been together for over 10 months now. I am the needy one, my partner still spends time with me but not as much as she used to. It's hard for me because I have never been in a long term relationship, and in all my past relationships me and the person would only be in the Uforia phase.
😂 I love how this was me and my boyfriend when we first started to date. We are in a stage where we just annoy each other, but in a good way.
One thing I would say about my ex was he was so giving, he believed in helping anyone. When we went to restaurants he tipped good.

A lot of relationships end right as the second stage begins because reality does hit. I found this true when I was younger. People crave to constantly feel the euphoria...sometimes when the first stage ends, it feels as if the partner has fallen out of love with ya. Most of the time, one of the partners has moved onto the next stage, while the other still lags behind. This will cause a lot of conflict and misunderstanding that leads up to a break up.
I'm not sure if this helps at all...

Same here. For some reason I very rarely got the honeymoon butterflies but used to see relationships as work from the word go - but in a good way; opportunities to become more self-aware and support my partner in his work to do the same.
For me, my primary issue was unaddressed childhood conditioning of thinking it was somehow my job to carry the greater load in relationships that had me settling for unsuitable partners who weren't pulling their weight. Now that I've seen through it, know who I am, what I deserve and the kind of man I look forward to sharing myself with, I'm really looking forward (and hella nervous) to step into a whoooole new way of being in relationships.

Like I'd say, "I don't like it when you do this" and he would say, "okay, what can I do to make things better." You just have to be open minded sometimes and communicate. Now, we are doing really good with each other and are very happy!
