    You can cleanse your hair naturally with apple cider vinegar, instead of shampoo. Use a brand such as: Bragg, because theirs is raw and unpasteurised, and full of nutrients for your hair. Vinegar is naturally antibacterial and will kill any bacteria in your hair. You will need to mix the apple cider vinegar with water to apply it to your hair. Put the some ACV in a spray bottle with water, shake it to mix it. Section your hair, apply it to each section. Rub it through your hair and scalp. Let it sit for 10 mins and rinse. Apple cider vinegar also helps to control dandruff ☺. And makes your hair shine too.

    Tip # 10: Make sure to invest in a good multi/mineral vitamin. Vitamin B, A, E aids in the health of hair, skin, and nails and Vitamin B also supports energy. Biotin is part of the B family and if you are breaking out from it, that can happen if you have a B imbalance (not enough B6). The vitamins also support our overall health as we age which includes the health of our hair, and you will notice that products will react much better the healthier you and your hair are.

    GIRL! Where have you been all my natural life.....Your videos are a breath of fresh air......I have low porosity hair.....and I just realized today how much moisture affects my hair. I simply misted my hair with only water last night and today my hair was amazing in my twist out....I can only imagine what it can be if I step up my moisturizing game....I totally agree with you re: water based products working....There is a lot of miseducation and generalizations made about black hair as if its all the same and responds to the same ingredients the same.......Plz keep posting.....Thanks again..

I also use henna: super growth oil by Curly Proverbz which has henna, Amla Powder, Shakakai powder, grape seed oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Avocado oil. do you deep condition your hair at all? and sleep with a satin scarf or pillow?
      when you wash your hair in the shower put in aussie moist 3 minute miracle and detangle TF out of your hair. to the point where you can run a comb through it without catching any snags from roots to ends. then rinse it out. put in deep conditioner and let it sit like 20 30 mins. then use a leave in conditioner or curl cream and apply it in small sections at a time and focus on making sure your curls are smooth.
      if your hair is dry its takes gonna take you doing this a few times to see results

    Do you have any tips on DIY deep conditioner?

    • @KaylynIvy
      @KaylynIvy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you have to be very careful with the ingredients you use in DIY because i see a lot of people use ingredients and give more protein than they give moisture and constant weekly use will cause your hair to be dry and brittle. dont use ingredients like egg and mayo often...that should be like a once a month or a once every two months type of thing.
      I would use aloe vera, multiple different oils, and maybe a banana. and make sure the deep conditioner isnt chunky. blend it til smooth

    I just started watching your videos and cannot stop. A lot of what you talk about concerning your hair I kept nodding because I relate so much! I'm definitely going to try deep conditioning with heat. My only thing is how do you style it since you're doing it so often? I don't wear my curls out too often unless it's in a slicked back bun or high puff... so I'm worried about the consistency thing and doing it every week

      @KaylynIvy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you! :)
      and i normally do wash and go but before my hair was as healthy as it is now i used to wear my hair in puffs and slicked back buns too lol ...i honestly never do protective styles or sew ins (nothing against them i just never did them) i was just always that person who wore their hair out growing up.
      but of course in the beginning you want to be as consistent as possible with your wash routine and deep conditioning because you're working on "training" your hair and getting it used to being moisturized. but later on you can start slacking more because your hair would already be so much healthier that it could miss a wash week every here and there . so mainly consistency in the beginning of your "journey" is most important so thats why id suggest just wearing your curls as much as you can for a while even if you have to throw it into a bun for a while. do you get what i mean? lol

      Yeah I've mostly relied on protective styles because my hair is not as healthy as it needs to be but I'm going to try the deep conditions with heat! Thank you again!

      Annette Spears water based products will have water listed as an ingredient in the product list! Most times it's the first ingredient! You most likely have water based products in your closet! Lol hope that was helpful

    How long did it take you to start to see a difference in your roots? Heated Deep conditioning changed my texture for the better I have beautiful curls but my roots are dry!

    • @KaylynIvy
      @KaylynIvy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it didnt take any longer than the rest of my hair. my problem was just that when i applied my deep conditioner i never applied it to my roots so when i started to then i started to see a difference at the same rate as the rest of my hair. since you know your roots are dry just try to really focus on getting your deep conditioner in there

    • @KaylynIvy
      @KaylynIvy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      and at first i wasnt purposely not applying it to my roots but when i noticed my roots were still dry, that told me i must have accidentally not been getting as much deep conditioner on them. so when i started focusing on getting product on them i saw a difference happen.

    • @adannaxo
      @adannaxo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Start putting deep conditioner on your roots so that your roots are getting just as much moisture as the ends and the main body of the hair. My roots used to be dry but the main body of my hair was moisturised so I started applying my deep conditioner on my roots and then after a few deep conditioning sessions, I saw a difference.
      Hope this tip helps you out!

    @#7. 1st, shampoo is necessary to clean the buildup off your hair.
    2nd, if you're conditioning and deep conditioning every time you wash, the moisture is replenished.
    That statement is a myth passed on with no real facts. Ijs. If it doesnt make sense its not the truth. 😊

    I haven't used shampoo in 3 months. Im currently doing the water only thing. So far it is doing wonders for me. I rinse it once a week and detangle with my fingers. When i do rinse I make sure to massage my scalp to get any debris off. This is just a temporary experiment in trying. I also just use light conditioners to wash it when I do want to wash it with something. Trial and error has taught me that traditional shampoo is just too harsh for my hair.

      Nairobi Lewis keep going it takes time to see results...on your wash/cowash days use the LOC Method and if your hair gets dry moisturize daily with a leave in conditioner spray and then a oil to seal.

    #10 - Once you're done styling, stop touching it. Curly hair is thin and fragile; It will be healthier and stronger if you aren't twirling, braiding and touching constantly.

    +kAYLYN IVY, Hi from Brazil again :)... You look so pretty as always and also does your hair! Well, I tried the steamer just for few minutes (10 minutes) as I told you I would but I was scared. Let me tell you why. I have HIGH POROSITY hair meaning my hair shafts are open and can't retain moisture for too long - and I am sure you know all that. If I use any kind of heat on my hair probably it will open away more than already is don't you think!?. Can you tell me if your hair is high or low porosity!? Thank you so much. Rio de Janeiro was/is hot today even we are in Fall and my hair love it! XOXO

    • @KaylynIvy
      @KaylynIvy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chris Araujo heyyy Chris! And at first I thought my hair was high porosity but people in the comments told me it was low Porosity and I definitely agree with that. My hair wasn't absorbing moisture because my hair shaft wasn't open that's why heat was so beneficial to my hair because it opened up my hair shafts and allowed my product to do a better job penetrating . Since you have high porosity hair I guess you wouldn't need to use heat because your hair already absorbs the moisture you put in it (according to science). But are you sure your hair has high porosity and not low?? If what you're doing for high porosity hair hasn't been working maybe you actually have low porosity hair

    • @chrisaraujo694
      @chrisaraujo694 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +KAYLYN IVY, Unfortunately my hair is HIGH porosity as it can be :(. I often test it using a few hair strands in the water bowl. Well, it looks like they (my hair) are swimmers because they dive in to the bottom of the bowl before I can blink. I really am having hard time because when it absorbs moisture is so pretty, with such a good definition but its gone as quickly as it gets in. I know I should seal it with oil but again oils makes my hair brittle, dry and stiff. I have been researching, reading, talking about it but I can't figure out what to do. That's why I am so attempt to go back to relaxing :(. Thanks again. You are so kind!

    • @KaylynIvy
      @KaylynIvy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chris Araujo noooo Chris !! Keep trying !! Lol but I understand your frustration :( not being able to figure out why your hair is dry is a PAIN smh. How about instead of investing in a hair dryer, how about the next time you deep condition you just use your hair dryer and blow hot hair around your head (in a plastic cap) for 15-20mins before rinsing it out. If you feel a difference then keep at it cause it might actually work for you. And if you don't feel any difference at all then we can just throw in the towel ! 🤷🏽‍♀️

You are awesome!

    Tip #10 - If you have high porosity hair do a real protein treatment at least once a month.

    • @_darrinsmith
      @_darrinsmith 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another tip, you can turn your regular conditioners into a deep conditioner by adding hydrolyzed wheat protein because its molecules are small enough to penetrate into the cortex. It also helps to retain moisture, but don't do it too often.
