I'm a professional in the field of alcohol monitoring. There are three things that the video shows, but doesn't explain. 1st. As they mentioned its not about size only. There is food consumption, metabolism rates, but one thing is not well known. Women and men have differing body structures that are supposed to be there by nature. Men have not only more muscle and bone density but men have nearly twice the amount of water per cubic centimeter in the body than women which dilutes alcohol. This accounts for women getting drunk faster and sober faster because in womens bodies its not as diluted as in men. Additionally all things being equal (food consumption, etc) alcohol leave the body at consistent rates. Therefore women get sober faster.
Second is that we are impaired much lower than 0.08 BrAC. In fact impairment starts at 0.03 and at 0.05 its very noticeable. The 0.08 rule is really a tool for prosecution. Additionally these monitors are accurate to +/- 0.01. So if you blow a 0.075 you 're probably close to 0.08 than you may think,
3rd. All because some people are able to "drink me under the table" and seem to be fine, they are not. Their bodies get used to it and are most likely alcoholics or close to it.
Basically if you want to drive, don't drink any alcohol.

@@NzJohny In between low to medium drunkenness'. Imagine sober is raw meat (using steak as example). And drunk as a skunk is really well done. You would be in between Rare and Medium. Next I'd say .05 -.07 is medium. .08 - .12 is medium-well. .13 - .2 is well done and anything above .2 is super excessive and toxic and really bad for your body (not recommended) .35 or higher is risk of death.
I can drink a 5th - half a gallon a day and quit anytime with no withdrawals and never come close to being an alcoholic and I'm just fine. "Mr I'm a professional" over here lol I'm sober now and it's the easiest thing in the world. Maybe you should go look over your data sheets. And you didn't even mention that it's hereditary. Quit your job or leave your stupid opinions out of it.
I can't stress enough how important it is to eat before and after drinking to reduce your BAC. Furthermore, if you're out drinking, ask the bartender for a glass of water or two in the middle of your night out. I'm also going to agree with another poster that mentioned that .03-.05 BAC is enough to impair your cognitive abilities. Especially if you're driving in an unfamiliar area at night, or if you're driving an unfamiliar car. Add those two together, and you shouldn't even consider drinking and getting behind the wheel.
*Btw, I'm not condoning drinking and driving. It's just not worth it in an age where you can have a rideshare driver drive you around at a reasonable price. I'm just trying to give people information to prevent DUI related fatalities.

body weight doesnt matter as much as water content (water weight) in the body does. when you gain fat, it replaces some of the water in your body. a 300lb bodybuilder can drink much more alcohol before reachingthe same BAC as an average 300lb person. The more water in the body, the more it can dilute the alcohol

it's worth mentioning that you CAN get charged with a DUI in most(?) places even if you're under the legal limit if the officer feels like you're impaired. Over 20 years ago I got stopped and blew a 0.07. The officer didn't arrest me, but he made me promise to drive straight home and stay there the rest of the night (I was also 19 at the time). I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been that lenient nowadays with the growing awareness surrounding drinking and driving.

Being a large over 6ft 100kg man, does have its advantages.
The sheer amount you have to drink to get remotely drunk is substantial. It’s almost impossible to get black out drunk from experience. I can make my way through 10 pints and a few double vodkas on a typical weekend night out and get home at 4am feeling slightly merry.
(I should stress to any Americans reading this, gobsmacked by the quantity stated above - I am British).

I worked as a salesman for a while. Got used to drinks for celebration. I had a couple days off. I was gaming (COD2) in the morning and drinking. I didnt have to work for a day and a half.
I stopped drinking at noon. I was buzzed enough. I took a nap later. I woke up, was hungry, went and got food. Should mention this was at midnight. Something ran in front of me. Little did I know that my concoction of Wild Irish Rose, Mt. Dew and Vodka would stay with me so long.
12 hours later, when that thing ran out in front of me, I went off the road and got a DUI. I was .081. For my size, they said it was a half a beer over. It was a huge 70's car...rear wheel drive, blah blah blah...."insert generic excuses here"......point is.....shouldnt have been on the road.
Crazy how it sneaks up on you OR....OR.....stays with you well past when you think its gone.

Sucks doesn't it having that breathalyzer in the car, I bought a breathalyzer for when I go out I don't drive if its above .06. I got a dui because I got carried away and just kept drinking beer and mixed drinks I was surprised when my bac was just .12 kinda expected to be .24 since I had 10 42 ounce pitchers of beer and 5 mixed drinks. I was told by my dui teach that wieght, height and muscle mass play a big role in breaking it down
I'm an ex Drinker and I hate alcohol so much that I decided to smoke weed instead. So far it has served me well. And I've also kicked the habit of smoking cigarettes.
Weed will mess you up too. I've been doing both a long time and if I don't use marijuana for about 6 months and then get high I'm way more impaired than having had 3-6 drinks.

to get an accurate reading on the breathalyzer you need to wait at least 15 minutes..they should of drank some water too
Because the alcohol metabolizes gradually. Basically if you take a shot, the alcohol won’t be in your blood immediately therefore the reading won’t be accurate until more time has passed
Gotta give your body time to metabolize the alcohol. Taking a drink and immediately testing is a bad idea
But...who takes just one drink in 30 minutes? It is usually 2 to 3 times that in the same amount of time.

Don’t forget, if you’re driving drunk you can refuse breathalyzers and Field sobriety tests. You’ll be detained, but the state will have no proof or hard evidence to convict you. Better detained for a night, than in jail for a couple years. 👍🏼

If you’re drunk, slurring, and refusing then obviously that would hold in court and you’d be fucked. As you should be imo. It keeps cops from violating rights and actually look for clear cause and bullshit will be exposed in open court. Bad PR on top of that.

So this vidoe leaves out a few other factor that might be missed is "time". @02:35 they have the numbers of drinks but time is a factor and the time of drinks which they did quite a few different drinks ( beer wine liquor )
And mixing drinks is sure way to get to a higher BAC quicker.

On an empty stomach, it takes about 30 minutes for alcohol to be absorbed and distributed . Alcohol is distributed and amount of alcohol absorbed by body tissue dependent on its water content. the average woman is smaller, has more body fat, thus tends to pack that alcohol into less water, causing a higher reading than an equally sized male. If you have a really fat guy, this all goes out the window as fat and water dont mix and leads to problems calculating how many drinks it takes

Also donating blood really helps. I had an accident one time where I cut myself and I lost a lot of blood by the time I made it to urgent care, that night I had a few drinks and was hammered after maybe 4-5 drinks where it normally takes a dozen or so to feel tipsy.
I'm 6"1 230lbs. I can drink a lot before blowing 0.08+ if I eat before and after drinking plus a cup of water in between. But that's the past, now I don't even drink anymore maybe 1 can of bear on a hot summer day.
