    This young lady is great to learn from she seems so down to earth . I remember these from my childhood , just the brown and red ones , it's all that was on offer in those day's . And as Katie has shown no real need for a cooking thermometer just like there were none used in my day's . I had forgotten how to make both toffee apples and home made toffee . At least now i can make the apples thanks to this lass . PS: if you ever do get a chance to make home made toffee it would be great . For the life of me i can not understand why there are only 198 subscribed to this . And the three who flagged it down , are they evil goblins or summat ?? :-) Thank you very much Ms / Mrs Katie . One more thing i am glad that you can basically use any sort of apple because in the 60's and 70's it was almost a religion ( around our area at least ) , to use granny smiths for this if memory serves me correctly . That is good to know as granny smiths can be a tad bitter at times , mind you the carmel offsets that but it's good to know all the same

    Wooden spoons are better for making toffee as they’re non heat conductors. Also the golden syrup is used to help stop the sugar crystallising.

    Looks fantastic! But I was wondering why the recipe says you need vinegar, yet I did not see you add any vinegar to your mixture?

    • @KatiePix
      @KatiePix  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh?!?! I'm also confused at that. Let me take another look and rectify. I often do a bulk sit down and amend description so there is a strong chance I have merged a few recipes! Haha!

      Best to have some help for the caramel, whatever age you are! It can be really fiddly and unpleasant if it does go wrong!
