It's the fault of society that disregards remarriage ordained in Islam, not the fault of Islam. If woman is divorced, Islam doesn't compel her ex-husband to pay her maintenance. Maintenance of their kids is by ex-husband in the lap of divorcee, till they mature. Thereafter, husband will directly sustain them. Wife will get remarried to a woman of her choice, or stay with her parents/brothers, if available. If a man will not provide maintenance to his own ex-wife, how will he provide maintenance to another man's ex-wife ???? If there are 100 divorces in that area will he provide maintenance to all the 100 divorced women of that area ???????

Yes, kids's maintenance is the responsibility of man, because it's compulsory for man to provide maintenance to kids, and to woman as long as she is his wife.
I know Hindus find problem with it, because these Hindus, Hinduism and even Hindu Scholars don't accept remarriage(though Indian Law allows it😂, just to clarify your confusion).

The man has a responsibility towards his ex-wife. As the SC has decreed the Muslim man HAS to pay maintenance to his ex-wife. This is the law of the land whether you like it or not.
Tax revenue cannot be used to feed your ex-Wives. Period
Restrict yourselves to one wife and two kids only if you want to live in India. All this controversy because the ex- wife has approached the Courts for help as the Muslim community is an utter failure to solve it's own internal problems
