8:10 "..chimpanzees are not people", we should never forget that, I highly mistrust those who love animals more than people, on this path we may risk losing any kind of compassion, any sense of christian brotherhood, of charity towards our fellows
Extrapolating rats to humans is daft and it is no wonder why it has never provided a cure these past 50 years since Nixon declared war on cancer. Cutting out animals from the testing process is beneficial to humans. The Covid vaccines benefited from cutting out the majority of animal testing (if not all). www.timesofisrael.com/israelis-create-cancer-drug-using-human-simulating-chip-instead-of-animal-tests/
Sure, there are been many dozens of cures for cancer - for rats!! How do we not know they threw away the one for humans, because it failed the animal tests? Best example is aspirin - it is fatal to cats - we might never have known this 'wonder drug' if it had to endue recent years of fake science. Finally, true science to the rescue! www.wired.com/2016/06/chips-mimic-organs-powerful-animal-testing/
I agree. These creatures are vicious nasty little animals anyways. All this sanctuary stuff is bullshit. Testing on them gave us the Hepatitis C vax. Euthanasia is not cruel. Euthinaize them like a sick dog. What’s the big deal? They’re not as intelligent ass these egg heads would like you to believe nor are they nearly as endangered. If restring I. Them in a lab somewhere sent them to extinction, which it wouldn’t, yet the research helps a human who is sick, I have no issue with a planet without them if people are healthy.
Why hasn't Jane Goodall ever put herself forward for medical trials? Trials that test drugs for humans on humans - she probably uses a lot of drugs and products tested on animals. I understand she makes a good living, where is she registered to pay tax and how much of her own money does she give to sanctuaries? I've never known her to put her hand in her pocket, she just charges to give talks and presentations. Easy work if you can get it.
They're under that impression, because that's absolutely how it's been. It's sad it's taken us so long to realize that our barbaric behaviors weren't right, but at least we've finally gotten here. There's still a lot more work that needs to be done.
The exception is that they can't form complete sentences. They can combine 2 words together, perhaps a little more, but nowhere near what a human is able to do, or even a human child. It's enough to understand them, but they simply cannot use language like we do.
Have you seen how complicated talking is through an x-ray? Chimps use tools, and have complex ways of communication and teach one another how to do complex tasks. Language isn't just human, and the use of symbolism isn't either. These animals can UNDERSTAND us using language, and full sentences, they just don't use it themselves. Different chimp groups have different ways of communication, they have wars and war tactics, weapons, a sense of self, and a respect for life even when someone's passed away. Just because they don't do math, or have large vocabularies doesn't mean they're stupid. They have a much better memory than we do for example and understand the concept of numbers and the symbols which represent these numbers. Just because they don't think and behave like humans doesn't mean they are less than us.
@@anokaygaymer Yeah, I've seen it through x-ray. Yes, chimps and other great apes are good at teaching by showing. However, no, they do not use symbolism, and they cannot communicate abstract things, because they have no complex language. Yes, great apes can learn to understand our language reasonably well. You have completely misunderstood me if you think I see them as something "less". I was merely talking about one specific ability, only. It's like saying humans are something less because we can't run like a cheetah.
I think that the great apes should have some more rights in our world. They're pretty much humans. Every bit of research I've seen or heard of supports that they have the same potential/capacity as a human child (with the exception of language). It seems wrong to treat them as any other animal. They're our cousins.
I agree that this testing is needed, but I believe we should make this work as ethical as we can. And it's doing great in the steps towards being better! But that last guy saying how they are just animals leaves me with a horrible taste in my mouth. We are animals, our dogs are animals, cows are animals, chickens are animals. We all feel pain, and these chimps are highly emotional and logical beings that deserve respect, if they're such a great tool for science don't abuse it, and take good care of them. In the past we had tested unknowing humans but those practices have been practically abolished. This research is so important, and the quality of life in these chimps should be valued by the people who work so close to them. There are many humans in the world right now who are at level with a chimpanzee's mental capacities, and that's not at all an insult, chimps are amazing and intelligent far more than they're given credit. And the humans in the world with those levels of handicap or they're just a kid should still be respected and cared for, so why can't we extend that compassion to these chimps. Great things can happen, and from these chimps we can learn much about humanity in how they react mentally to things within these labs and sanctuaries, and how diseases affect the body, and we could learn much more. We aren't gods just because we have bigger brains, prehistoric humans with bigger brains have gone extinct, we aren't separate from other animals, all animals are different but there is no animal that deserves a shit quality of life. We aren't entitled to the resources of this earth if we abuse them.
All science is expensive, these chimp laboratories are expensive and need money, and so do zoos, and sanctuaries, and doctors, and hospitals, and pharmacies. She is for the chimps, and the chimps saved from unethical testing facilities show they have mental trauma. Not all testing facilities are bad, and chimps are a very important and valuable tool in understanding people, and in science in general. But we aren't entitled to abuse whatever we want for science. The lab in this example has done amazing things to ease and make their work easier for them and the chimps. This work is necessary but if these chimps are bettering human lives, why shouldn't we help to better theirs.
@Antique Appraisers Yeah, like I said, just like us! What, did you think humans don't do infanticide and murders and such? Have you heard of a prison before? This reasonably civilized behavior that we have right now is only due to the fact that we have strict societies. For 99% of the time that humans have existed, we have hardly been anywhere near this civilized. Police the chimps the same way, and give them the same kind of society, and they'll behave more like how we behave, now.
Why don’t you use the people that are infected with hepatitis b and c be used for research? Instead of using defenseless animals that haven’t done anything to anyone to deserve being treated like a lab rat
We humans have a lot more genetic diversity to be good test subjects. Volunteers doesn't meet the demand and using non-volunteers makes you a horrible person.
Would you treat a first grader like this? Someone handicapped, or a minority that no one is advocating for? I don't think testing should stop on chimps, they're so useful as a window into humanity mentally, physically, and evolutionarily. But we can't abuse that. Chimps who are now in sanctuaries show signs of traumatic mental illnesses and struggle mentally after what they've been through. I believe that if they're so valuable to science and humans' quality of life we should treat them, as individuals, as such. Important and valued. They're helping us out so much, and I believe that the best thing we can do is give them the best lives possible while they help give humanity the same thing.
@@anokaygaymer brother I agree with you but treating them mentally would have harsh effect for long time and unlike humans they do remember things for long time which won't erase from thier mind I hope all the chimps who survived the test and mentallly ,physically now taken care by animal aid care.
@@sachin_rider they actually have a long memory, and exhibit behaviors like sticking near concrete, rocking and being freaked out by certain sites. Even wild chimps recognize researchers and caretakers and will celebrate after more than a decade of celebration if I recall correctly
When it comes to our species thriving and surviving it’s just gotta happen. Everything we use from medications to shampoo and shit comes from them. Oh well
I know it’s evil, the way the treat esply rhesus macaques (monkey) species. But somewhere down the line these have help hundreds of patience worldwide esply in western countries as they are lab testing 90% of them are in western countries. So people what you say about these testing. I don’t want personally them lab testing as it’s horrible, but thousands of family who are helped and saved by the medicine which were produced through lab testing are thankful and grateful. It’s a free world, I guess expect for the countries like N.Korea, what’s your opinion of this kind of testing. Reason asking :- It’s my fake account on TH-cam as I have access to this lab testing secretly.

man, there is no escaping this cruelty , I'm sure if some one saw a bunch of cockroaches in their own cages, they would say its wrong and they should be released into the wild. at this point, its the way of life for one species to be used by another. IN the end, if shit turns out like "planet of the apes" then that's our karma.... lol
Earth is a planet of the apes, humans are everywhere man. People protest the usage of chimps because they are so like us, they're being used because they're so much like us. They're helping better the quality of our lives, I think we owe them the same thing, a good life.

Humans wouldn't do this work voluntarily, sadly I don't think theres a way to do this work without the help of other animals. I think the previous and some current approaches to this are cruel and wrong, and need to be changed. No the inclusion of chimps

Many cures have been found for diseases and many vaccinations discovered. I hope they continue this forever animal research all the way
