How could he have seen one rusted out when they’re made of aluminum and aluminum doesn’t rust
Roof and doors are steel (DOT requirement). I've seen rust on roof seams and mainly door hinges. But, yes. They do get rust.

How can aluminum rust out if its original aluminum doesn't rust
The body is Aluminum while the roof, doors, and frame is made of steel. Dissimilar metals touching cause extreme pitting and paint bumbling in the aluminum, and the steel roof/sleel rusts out like crazy, mostly where the two meet, around fasteners, etc.
