    Maan, was feeling for you when trying to slide that big clip. Just pulled one yesterday from the boneyard and really appreciate the 'experienced' tip on bleeding w/o the dealer scanner or hi-end OBD--was stressing after reading the FSM on this step. Love the patient, and careful explanations-- you camera shots are just fine! Many thanks!

    Good video. Like Frank said, it is the little things that mess you up. Video was great because it was steady and clear. I just replaced my entire brake system. My lines were rusted THROUG. Doing 70, press pedal, NOTHING. 2004 JGC PowerStop Pro Z36, painted calipers, all SS hardware, rotors, parking brake shoes, SS line kit that was perfect, and Sunsong hydraulic hoses. Although my Jeep is a 2004, all the hydraulic hoses are 2003. $800 even at RockAuto. I do have a Launch Scan tool and will use that on the ABS. Never done that. It is my winter car which is nice in Wisconsin.

    Really a c
    Very good video, and I appreciate the little glitch about the salvage yard leaving a part of the old connector in the module. Let's me know to compare the two units before I try to hook it up. Nice job, and thanks for the bleeding tip.

      Bleeding is the easy part. Everything leading up to it I'm still kinda nervous to do.

    We had an intermittent abs light/condition (1998 Jeep G C). The shop swapped two complete units from wrecking yard. Neither one was good. Had to resort to re-installing original intermittent unit and living with this condition. Can the electronic control unit be removed from the pump unit while it's in the jeep, or is it easier to simply remove complete unit then separate and troubleshoot the electronic circuit board for bad connections?

    Thank you for this. I have to do the same swap on my 01 and am using my '00 donnor.
    One question, do I need to flash the control module?

  • @kris8742
    @kris8742 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Code C 2116 is a problem with the electronic module or sticking brushes in the pump Mitsubishi, Mazda, VW, Aldi, used a similar type of module can be repaired.

    rusty on 2000 grand Cherokee the front 2 wheels residence was 384 and 383, but I could pick up any volts from system wires in front wheels so this, would indicate, bad abs controller??

    What precipitated changing out the ABS pump- was it flashing a code, the brake calipers not releasing, etc...? Excellent video.

    What was the issue the jeep was having I have the same jeep and I have lost all brakes and I've already replaced the master cylinder and replaced a rotted out brake line I pulled the and controller off and have to get one from a junkyard just hoping this fixes my problem cause idk what else could have caused my loss of brakes

    • @uglyhp8225
      @uglyhp8225  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      this one had bad solenoid that threw brake codes but it still had a pedal sounds like you have air in the lines or didnt fully bleed the mastercyclinder on the bench

    • @electricstartclint
      @electricstartclint 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m having the same issue. Brakes go to the floor, can pump back up for maybe one more stop, then to the floor again. Did you figure out your problem??

    Hi my name is Jeanette from UK, we have a Jeep Cherokee CRD 2006. The warning lights on the dashboard, brake, abs do not go off and the speedo and odometer not working. Do you think the problem the ABS pump/module ? Someone suggested this. If so am I ok to drive until fixed. Kind regards Jen

    • @uglyhp8225
      @uglyhp8225  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      what codes appear when you scan the abs if it wont communicate then most likely its the abs pump module

  • @demolitionman8768

    if I i get the abs pump on the junk yard how would I know it works? i believe the code i pulled out my girls 2000 jeep grand cherokee said something about the the abs pump! thanks by the way great video

    • @uglyhp8225
      @uglyhp8225  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the 2 bit wires on the assembly that go to the pump from the module you would unplug at the pump then you would put 12v on 1 terminal and ground on the other and you would here it kick on

    after you conect the lines, do you bleed those lines or the ones on each tire? thanks!!

    • @uglyhp8225
      @uglyhp8225  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can just bleed those lines

    • @fritz614
      @fritz614 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say those lines, I assume you mean bleed at each tire and it pull from and thru controller? or are you referring to some other lines that need bled?
      Also, can you pre fill with brake fluid after remounting new one to speed up process, like using a syringe to fill the module back up? Thanks

    • @uglyhp8225
      @uglyhp8225  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that syringe idea probably would speed it up alot faster or just let it gravity bleed either way it will probably take a hr and when i say those lines i mean just bleed the ones there at the pump

    I have just 1 question ,after you do one of these videos do you do a playback review of your video & if so are you able to understand your own narrative, verbal description of the work you are performing .
    Obviously Oscar Torres ,[ did a question comment to this video ] when he asked if you had to bleed the system after doing the ABS work was as much in the dark after viewing this video as many who watched your video were.
    I was aware the system needed to have the air bleed out of it 'other then taking your vehicle to a repair facility & if you tryed it yourself it take up to a hour 1/2 ,[ per line or the hole system??]. is the only information I came away with after watching your video.
    Removing a few mounting bolts , hydraulic connection lines is pretty much self explanatory , [ if a person couldn't figure that part out , they shouldn't even be attempting this repair ], is the easy part. The tricky part is bleeding the lines , little to no information on that procedure & what information that was provided was verbably garbled

    • @uglyhp8225
      @uglyhp8225  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so i try to jam as much info into the video as possible these videos arent edited and they are done during shop hours in 1 take so yea sometimes i do leave info out and dont realize it til someone ask a question but thats also why im willing to reply to the comments if youtube would bring back the video editer i wouldnt have to do these in one take and yes stuff that i mistake as self explained are always what i forget

    Did you have to have the module reprogrammed by jeep dealership since the module came from a different jeep? That is what I am being told. Thanks!

    Hello UglyHP, I hope yu can help, I need a front to rear brake line for a 2001 grand cherokee laredo 4.0 6cyl. Ive called Mopar tell me they don't sell it any more. What am I to do?? I have seen the copper line, i guess will be the same, but I DONT KNOW THE SOZE OF THE BRAKE LINE AND THE JEEP MECHANICS say they don't know either. do you know. i hope I get a reply. when I try to explain, I need the size they seem to brush me off, maybe because Im a girl I don't know. Help.

      you can buy whole rolls of brake line at the parts store for about 20 bucks all you would have to do is bend it in place and flair the ends a brake line flair kit should be under 20 bucks and you should be able to reuse the old fittings all you need to do is find out if the line is 5/16 or 3/8

      I just purchased the whole set of stainless steel pre-bent lines made by Inline Tube and installed them this past weekend. The long one from the front to the back comes in 2 pieces to make it easier to install. You join it with a brass coupler.
