@ronniedoorzon1576 I agree, I hate it when these teenagers claim a singer, guitarist, whatever is underrated, just because they've only just heard of them.
I can't imagine the thought of a mother abandoning a child from the child's perspective, but I did raise my son when his mother walked out on us 12 years ago. He's 22 now and killing it. I'm so proud of him.
Abandonment is so hard to overcome as a child, I had no idea that he went through that horrible experience, not feeling loved by the very person that you owe your life to is just so difficult, and to gather that as an inspiration is just fantastic
IT's the physics of consciousness, when the artist gets into the moment and channels collective consciousness, essentially reflecting back to the collective what resonates with them - true mastery
I honestly can barely tell the difference between this and 1985 performance. Maybe just a little less power behind his voice nowadays . A tiny bit more gravel maybe?
This is one of, if not my favorite song of the 1980s. Mick Hucknall's voice is so beautiful, so soulful, so incredibly soothing. Great video. Thank you for covering this song!
Ohhhhh! One of those songs that I had forgotten about through the years, but comes back with a flood of emotions and memories! Thank you for this reaction!❤
I'm glad you reviewed this live version, I literally listen to this on my home cinema system every weekend with a cheeky glass of whiskey. It's a stunning performance with the full orchestra and sublime quality for a youtube video, its actually better than the DVD which I own. One of the best performances I've come across.
I can so imagine this song being a real balm for people with bruised or broken families. I've felt that way about other songs about other painful life experiences.
Remember he has been singing this song for 30 years or more...it is a whole part of his life and just effortless for him to draw out...just like breathing...💯❤🔥he could sing this in his sleep🌟🌠🌌🌌🌬💋
I LOVE this song. You describe artistry perfectly..."when we don't get in our own way". This goes for what ever vessel you use in life to achieve or to just be. Thanks Beth, for this reaction.
Beth you nailed this review. This song came out when I was rock bottom. I played it on my Sony Walkman as I hiked mountain trails for exercise and to take myself in a more positive direction in life. I refer family and friends to this soulful song when they feel the same. Life is on the other side!
Thank you, Beth. I'm thrilled you took another suggestion of mine (though I imagine others must have echoed it). I was 21 when this song was released. My son was just a few months old. He's 38 now, and I'm 59. Not only is this song still beautiful to me, but Mick's voice has defied time and remains astonishing. 😊
One of my favorites, and it sounds even better than before. I love how Beth seems transfixed by this video it seems, and she is especially beautiful tonight.
Thanks so much for this, Beth. All my Simply Red is on old cassettes from back in the day and I just haven't dragged them out in forever. Mick's voice is still absolutely fabulous here. Now I'm gonna have to go dig it all up. :)
beeeeeth it's been i think 5 years since i've found your channel. And i have to say i'm so greatful i did. Your videoss always put a smile on my face and i just wanted to thank u for that.
Thanks for posting this… he’s such an amazing singer (and songwriter) with really not much change at all in his voice/tone from when it was first recorded. Love.. love this song, and his music in general. Great reaction, thank-you!
I was watching this performance yesterday and today you're reacts to it just a little funny coinsidence. Love live performances where the audience sings along!

This song makes me tear up as well and it’s not even attached to any memories. This song was way past my time, so I used to hear it on the oldies radio station my parents used to listen to.
Beth, You are so interesting, genuine, sensitive, intelligent woman, well spoken, charming and sooo pretty, and I loooove your accent, I just really enjoy watching all your videos
Just being, is the key to finding fulfillment and happiness in our lives. We just let love flow into, through and from us. The true artist, has discovered and expresses this truth.
She's got a great point actually. It feels like he's having an intermate conversation with himself. It feels totally natural his delivery. I have to confess, I wasnt a great fan of them in my youth. But, as you age your musical tastes evolve and mature. I find his performance spellbinding actually. His voice is as powerful, vibrant, rich and warm as it ever was.The feeling comes across that some event resonated with him in the past and he's able to express it in song. It's a tour de force.
Isn't it amazing how some songs just infiltrate so many peoples lives that when the performer is live he or she can just share it with the audience almost become a combine choral group.
What do you think of his microphone technique? He reminds me of Sinatra in that video with how he used the mic as a visual prop to give a big performance. But something that struck me as strange was that he kept his thumb over the top of the mic, partly masking it. Didn't seem to have much effect as the vocals were very clear.
Loved him in the 80’s. And yes I thought he was Simply Red too. Saw him about 10 years ago when he announced his retirement to explore his love of Photography. Such a great concert and his voice was so good. Just as l remembered it. 🎸🎸
Mick Hucknel is in my opinion one of the great voices of modern music. His covers of 60s and 70s soul tunes are fantastic- sometimes he even outdoes the originals. Always so emotive !
Great choice ,thank you . Mick Hucknall its in my opinion the best voice from the 80s. such talent and full of soul , great vocal control. Amazing. Love your reaction.❤
I love this song. He is amazing. Thanks Beth. As always a great review and the history of the song was really niece. Plus you look very much like my daughter. She is here today visiting.
The band's name honors their favorite football club, nothing to do with the lead singer's hair color. This was one of my favorite albums growing up, his voice is unmatched
Such a great song. I was in my hair metal phase when it came out, so I didn't appreciate it at the time. But as I've gotten older, I've fallen more and more in love with it. Of course, Mick Hucknall is one of the absolute greats. I think he sounds even better in this performance than he did on the original recording.
actually his stage name was Red,. However when his maiger was booking a show he was asked what was the name of the group. Not wanting to say just Red he said Simply Red and the name stuck. He was one of the many artists of the 80's that was underrated.
Just got back from a Girls house . Fell asleep and she was playing random music this song popped up , I was half way asleep and said to my self I can’t wait to listen to this in my car driving back . Shit is beautiful. Can’t believe I’ve never heard this . I hope tik tok doesn’t know about this
After almost 40 years he's still singing in the original key. Amazing.
Such a healthy vocal apparatus! He must have special care. A real professional.
In my opinion one of the most underrated live performers. This guy nails it every time!
Definitely!
@ronniedoorzon1576 I agree, I hate it when these teenagers claim a singer, guitarist, whatever is underrated, just because they've only just heard of them.
Underrated? Mick Huucknall? Do you know what the word 'underrated' means?
I can't imagine the thought of a mother abandoning a child from the child's perspective, but I did raise my son when his mother walked out on us 12 years ago. He's 22 now and killing it. I'm so proud of him.
Mick is an absolute Master of Voice. Gorgeous song. This crowd was in love with this man.
Abandonment is so hard to overcome as a child, I had no idea that he went through that horrible experience, not feeling loved by the very person that you owe your life to is just so difficult, and to gather that as an inspiration is just fantastic
Your m9m leaving can affect your entire life
IT's the physics of consciousness, when the artist gets into the moment and channels collective consciousness, essentially reflecting back to the collective what resonates with them - true mastery
One of the most under rated voices ever!
But he's not 'under rated'. Simply Red have sold over 50 million albums and have had five UK Official Album Chart Number 1s
A little age on his voice makes it seem to fit the lyrics better. He’s still so good
I honestly can barely tell the difference between this and 1985 performance. Maybe just a little less power behind his voice nowadays . A tiny bit more gravel maybe?
@@maximusolivia9982 bit more gravel, bit more weight.
Let's be honest 40 years or now he has a voice for the ages
Just the right amount of rasp in his later years
This is one of, if not my favorite song of the 1980s. Mick Hucknall's voice is so beautiful, so soulful, so incredibly soothing. Great video. Thank you for covering this song!
The whole album is a classic!
Ohhhhh! One of those songs that I had forgotten about through the years, but comes back with a flood of emotions and memories! Thank you for this reaction!❤
Same for me!!!
The man's still got it, absolutely beautiful. Thanks Beth.
Wow!!!! He sounds just as good if not better now!!! I was 10 years old when this song came out. Loved it then - love it now. Thanks for sharing. :)
You couldn't have a club or a dance in the 80's without this song near the end.
The flow, groove, the feeeeeeel sweeps me up and then gently places me in the time and space of my thoughts.
I'm glad you reviewed this live version, I literally listen to this on my home cinema system every weekend with a cheeky glass of whiskey. It's a stunning performance with the full orchestra and sublime quality for a youtube video, its actually better than the DVD which I own. One of the best performances I've come across.

Great reaction Beth! My wife and I loved Simply Red back in the day. Mick's voice was (and based upon this, still is) amazing.
I LOVE this song. You describe artistry perfectly..."when we don't get in our own way". This goes for what ever vessel you use in life to achieve or to just be. Thanks Beth, for this reaction.
Simply Red made some of my favorite songs I've listen to dozens of times
Beth you nailed this review. This song came out when I was rock bottom. I played it on my Sony Walkman as I hiked mountain trails for exercise and to take myself in a more positive direction in life. I refer family and friends to this soulful song when they feel the same. Life is on the other side!
This song is timeless, and Mick still sounds great! ❤❤
Always loved this song, and like you said it just flows.
Have seen Simply Red Live...they are awesome. Mick sings so effortlessly.
This songs is one of the few anthems in my life. So glad you reacted to it.
I am amazed how far the mic is from him when he really belts it out. What a powerful voice.
One of my favorites, and it sounds even better than before. I love how Beth seems transfixed by this video it seems, and she is especially beautiful tonight.
she is a perfect 10
He's always such😊 a joy to listen to :) . It was also interesting to learn more about him, thanks for sharing your reaction, Beth.
Thanks so much for this, Beth. All my Simply Red is on old cassettes from back in the day and I just haven't dragged them out in forever. Mick's voice is still absolutely fabulous here. Now I'm gonna have to go dig it all up. :)
Brilliant video. You have described the art of songwriting very beautifully
Such an amazing song and performance.
The song invokes both pain and beauty at the same time. It means a lot to me. Great songs are timeless.
His voice has not aged! He’s in his 60’s!!
When you think of all the classic songs of years gone by, you can definitely add this to the list.
Love this song and Simply Red. It is velvet for the ears
beeeeeth it's been i think 5 years since i've found your channel. And i have to say i'm so greatful i did. Your videoss always put a smile on my face and i just wanted to thank u for that.
Amazing song, simple but the vocals and emotions make it a classic.
0:09 There is great anticipation to accompany this analysis of one of the most beautiful songs in history.
I’ve NEVER seen a singer be able to move the microphone SOOO far from his mouth !! Unreal power.
Paul Rodgers too
@Niecgram_Me_Beth_Roars Really enjoy the channel & reactions. Lifelong Rodgers "fan". Also Jimmy Dewar, Frankie Miller, Terry Reid etc etc
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR SOMEONE TO DO THIS. yessssssss!

Amazing song, awesome artist and great analysis! 🎉😊
Isn't it amazing how some songs just infiltrate so many peoples lives that when the performer is live he or she can just share it with the audience almost become a combine choral group.
Hes voice is still so good, hopefully he’ll come back to Australia
You did a brill job with this Beth thanks for the video
I absolutely love all their songs he is such an amazing vocalist and the band is awesome too
I remember when i first heard this when it came out on the UK music show called The Chart Show.....wow then and wow now.

How beautiful!!! What a great song with which to chill on this softly raining Saturday afternoon!! 🎵🎶🌦💚💜
Loved him in the 80’s. And yes I thought he was Simply Red too. Saw him about 10 years ago when he announced his retirement to explore his love of Photography.
Such a great concert and his voice was so good. Just as l remembered it. 🎸🎸
Their album Stars was the first CD I ever bought. His vocals are amazing.
What a voice.
I never tire of this song
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mick Hucknel is in my opinion one of the great voices of modern music.
His covers of 60s and 70s soul tunes are fantastic- sometimes he even outdoes the originals.
Always so emotive !
God, his voice is marvelous.
His voice sits really high but is very soulful
Even when he belts it out its still so smooth..
Great choice ,thank you .
Mick Hucknall its in my opinion the best voice from the 80s. such talent and full of soul , great vocal control. Amazing.
Love your reaction.❤
Jumped on this album when it first hit!!!! Simply Red used to open for James Brown when he toured Europe.
What a great song I remember when it came out and it stands up to time
Simple Red don't need react. They need a homage!!!! 🔥❤️❤️❤️
I love this song. He is amazing. Thanks Beth. As always a great review and the history of the song was really niece. Plus you look very much like my daughter. She is here today visiting.
I've always loved his style and interpretation....you could check "Every time we say goodbye" and see how intimate his voice sounds
What a deep cut, good choice. I guess that was from their sophomore album, beautiful version.
Eu sou o unico no planeta que faz tudo no dia-a-dia, escutando músicas? Kkkkkk simplesmente terapia pra mim.
Que voz 👏👏👏👏👏👏
"Turn It Up" is another great Simply Red tune. There's a good live version, too.
The man knows how to sell his "poetry" - much maligned for some reason I have no idea why and this live performs shows his magic
it is amazing reactions, congratulations and GOD bless you
Your mouth is very pretty. Just felt compelled to point that out.
Also, this man's voice after all these years is so impressive!
He still sounds fantastic !
If that was truly a live performance and not lip sync, then holy cow. He not only sounds the same, but it's darn near identical to the studio version.
I hope to see him live one day!!! Greets from argentina!
Love hearing him sing
The band's name honors their favorite football club, nothing to do with the lead singer's hair color.

One of the greatest vocalists of all time without doubt!
Nossa que react maravilhoso, Simple Red grande cantor com uma voz espetacular
That is because his voice is the human version of Uilleann pipes (Irish) Pipes!
Seen then a number of times, and Mick gas adapted his voice with greatness a true true bocal talent.
Beautiful vocals then and now.
I remember a version at Montreux in 1992. A young singer ... very strong

Hermoso tema, un maestro
finally a simply red song
thank you
actually his stage name was Red,. However when his maiger was booking a show he was asked what was the name of the group. Not wanting to say just Red he said Simply Red and the name stuck. He was one of the many artists of the 80's that was underrated.
Love this song and gingers... my daughter is one. (You're included Beth 🙂)
When this song came out I thought the singer was a woman with a sultry voice. Until the video came out on MTV. Was I surprised.
Great singer.
Man, he has taken care of his voice! He still sounds as goof as when I saw him in Birmingham in the 90's!
Me encantó la canción bien Beth 👏👏🍀🍀
Such a great song.
More Simply Red please!!!
You've got it
Never never love
You make me feel brand new
Micks voice is incredible, even in his later years still better than 90% of todays generation
Just got back from a
Girls house . Fell asleep and she was playing random music this song popped up , I was half way asleep and said to my self I can’t wait to listen to this in my car driving back . Shit is beautiful. Can’t believe I’ve never heard this .
I hope tik tok doesn’t know about this
