Nah the commercials are so boring now no creativity at all. if I was a kid these old commercials would get my attention way more then some dude or girl talking over gameplay.
Well I think you forgot about the competition. Playstation 2 could play DVDs and was cheaper than most DVD players at the time causing many people to buy it even if they didn't play video games. The Xbox had Xbox live, which was the first mainstream online video game services. The game cube may have had good games, but it no extra features or gimmicks that would make a larger audience outside of hardcore nintendo fans want to buy it and it was underpowered compared to the competition.
@@basement_kid The GameCube was actually quite a bit more powerful than the PlayStation 2, but not near as much as the Xbox. The original Xbox was pretty beastly for the time.
Also like to imagine Nintendo's image was still seen as "kiddy" back then, while Sony/Microsoft embraced mature content hurt Nintendo in the long run (hell, it took Nintendo until the switch to be more supported of mature games). Also Nintendo opting for their own proprietary disc that only held about 1.5GB of data, while Sony/Xbox could hold about 4-8gb of data, and in a developer view, it's Kind hard not to go for the bigger storage :p Idk, my 2 cents on this
I think there was another US commercial. I think it might have been from Blockbuster or something, but from what I remember as a child, he was holding a GameCube controller at the beginning before the gameplay footage was shown.
There's also another commercial where an employee picks up a GameCube controller and tells you about the game, but I can't remember the retailer. I think it was Blockbuster, or something.
On a tropical island, Mario is taking a well deserved vacation. Or, so he thinks. Something's a muck in paradise. It's up to Mario, his water pack and you to make things less toxic and more tropic in Super Mario Sunshine only for Nintendo Gamecube. Rated E for everyone.
@vini64 I've always thought that the japanese commercials have used the same instruments as they did for the game's OST, kinda of... If I don't mistake, the music in the JP CMs was also composed by Shinobu Tenaka or not?
USA: KCL Productions Japan: Mario's new adventure on this new console! UK: Everyone wears Mario mustache German: Just a direct translation of UK commercial that is not in this video maybe (i hate commercial translations)

Icky, paint-like goop.

Nothing like telling everyone to clean up and help Mario do so! Lol
If you pollute, who gives hoot?
2:29 and i thought mario 64 commercials were weird
I think it cool imo
I thought Japan was the only weird one
US: Clean is better than dirty and dirty is meaner than clean!
UK: Let's make everyone mario
Super Mario odyssey foreshadowing
Mario Odyssey but it’s was made on crack.

You gotta love how they hid a PSA in the Mario Sunshine commerical for the USA
This is so similar to Pokemon Colosseums "Gotta save them all" PSA-like commercial omg
The Japanese commercials are the best ones
Okey Dokey! 😁
The music is very catchy!
2:30 welcome to the Mario-nation
And ladies and gentlemen the Mario-nation's national anthem.
remember "scary mario ad"?
What?
That's why I skipped the first ad
You should've not say that, now I have traumatic memories of that video.
The we are Nintendo one
I miss old game comercials like this
The music from the usa commercials though, those were catchy, and convinced me to buy a gamecube and super mario sunshine, and clean the environment.
That's cool, Brutus!

I'm assuming that's in the beta release
Our one was underrated weird but so nostalgic at the same time but japans one was kinda badass when promoting SMS.
1:37 this is the first time I noticed but
Pinna Island looks hella different in beta
GC had both first party and 3rd party exclusives. This system had no other reason to fail besides advertising and this is probably it
