    Thanks for the clip. I live in Australia so the heat in summer plays a big part. Sounds like the A329 Collingwood option would benefit me down here. It is going to be our 1st dash cam and I think the Viofo sounds like the best option after much research. Appreciate your hard work mate.

    Proud owner of a A119 for 5 years now - it is wired on ignition on only (not constant power) and hasn't skipped a beat. I use SD cards specifically made for hot environments and haven't had any issues. I live in Australia and the car can get hot up to 60C inside in summer and the camera still works fine. I might be one of the lucky ones, as I read some comments from people below claiming their A129 failed them sooner rather than later. By the way, I also did flash the latest official firmware I could find when I bought it many years ago, so perhaps a combination of factors helps prolong the life of the device?

      @@BimmerFix Samsung Pro Endurance. But I guess many other microSD cards that mention some kind of 'Extreme/Endurance' etc. term and say it is specifically tested for monitoring devices/dashcams/cameras etc. should be fine. They are supposed to withstand a lot more writes than ordinary cards.
      Don't get your hopes up on their 'warranties' though - at least not with Sandisk. Most claim (for ordinary cards, not the extreme versions) a lifetime warranty, but when one of mine failed they said to ship it back so they can send me a new one. I either had to pay $25 registered mail or $9 unregistered for a $15 card. Of course (silly me) I elected the $9 since it wouldn't make sense to pay more in postage than the product itself! Sandisk claimed they never received the card and I couldn't prove otherwise, so I lost $9 on top of that. 😆
      Lesson learnt - it might be cheaper to just buy a new one and forgo any 'warranties' - unless you happen to live close to where you are shipping and can prove some kind of delivery (good luck with that too).

    I've been running the A129 Pro Duo in my summer car and wanted to get a Viofo camera for my new winter vehicle this year. I left my other A129 Pro Duo installed in my last winter car as I sold it to a friend. After looking at the A229 Pro 2CH and the A329 during all the Black Friday sales, I was able to get another A129 Pro Duo with a hardwire kit for ~$200 CAD, which is a huge discount over what it normally runs and about $200 cheaper than what an equivalent package for the A229 Pro would have run me, and $350 cheaper than the A329.
    But you nailed it, and -- at normal pricing -- I think the A229 Pro 2CH represents the best value for money, as the A329 is still quite expensive for what is an incremental upgrade in capabilities.

    This video actually helped me - I have A229 Pro and was thinking if A329 is worth it. But no - the only thing I'll buy new is the new bluetooth button which seems nice :) But that external SSD seems like great feature if you can have it as a backup to SD card (like if you need to grab footage you can take SSD and keep SD card in to keep for example park mode running)
    Also for me Viofo is super reliable and I live in area that swings between -10°C up to 40°C ( 14 - 104 °F) - the only fail I had was SD card but it was card itself - wouldn't even show in PC.

    Is there ANY dash cam or 2 sets of dash cams I can use to run 360 degree recording but NOT record inside the car? I've thought about 2 sets of Viofos with one controlled by a bluetooth button. It's annoying as all heck you can't control multiple cameras with a singular button. OR get a 3 channel that has 2 of the same secondary cameras and then a singular cam for the back. I have a '23 Wagoneer and it's so big, I want to have cameras looking out each side. But I drive high profile clients and do NOT want any cam that records the interior.

    Interesting... I wondered about the upgrade too... (I've got 2 A229 Pro's) but for me, the big thing is HEAT.. I wish VIOFO had a 2 pack 1 channelA229 PRO / or A329 systems. What I'd like to know is how much extra heat is generated when you attach either the 2 or 3 channel options. I see using 2 1-channel A229 PRO / A329 cam's as being the way to go.. sure it's a bit more expensive but I also suspect that kind of configuration would have less incidence of system crash / failure / need to restart because of heat.
    Now, here's what I'd really like... I'd like a remote head unit that has cable'a going to the cameras... where the head unit could be away and out of the way of sunlight... (DUH!) and have a 4 or perhaps a 6 channel system where all the data is stored on an external device (SSD's) each on their own data channel. Doing this would allow VIOFO to include a cooling fan in the head unit to ensure it's not hot! BTW.. having a "head unit" away from the camera would let all the cameras 1,2,3,4,6 channel systems all have the same resolution... time stamps, and everything else... but then again what would I know... ??? Hmmm?
    Do you know if VIOFO is looking to use the IMX678 video chips in for all the cameras in the future?

    This makes me re-think if I really want this. I recently bought the a229 pro and honestly thought the 60fps would make a big difference since I was having issues seeing plates in oncoming traffic.
    Seems it won't really matter much except make the video quality nicer. I like to be able to save good quality smooth clips for showing friends and family but not sure if it's worth it. the ssd and wifi 6 is nice. But it's a lot of work to wire the cables again and set everything up, the worst part is honestly that I will have trash warranty compared to if I buy it here whenever it arrives in the EU market. In sweden, we have 2 years coverage by law against unexpected defects or too short longevity of the product and the burden of proof is on them if they claim it isn't an issue with the design or original factory flaw.
    Then another year where the burden of proof is on the customer but still not too difficult to get warranty.
    Will be bothersome to do any kind of warranty with a company sending stuff from china and that isn't governed by swedish/eu law.
    I think the best option might be to cancel the order before it's sent and just buy it when it arrives in sweden/eu instead if I still feel like it or just wait for another more substantial upgrade.

    Viofo cams with rear camera cause problems with TPMS systems in 2019 and up GM trucks. (Silverado and Sierra trucks). Unless you mount the front camera at the far right of the windshield and run the rear camera cable down the passenger side, you'll have problems with your TPMS system. Unplug the rear cam and the TPMS system works fine. The reason for this is the TPMS receiver AND antenna are in the headliner near the center of the vehicle and near the windshield. And the camera cable should have a shield that is grounded to the vehicle ground to prevent this interference.
    I love my Viofo 4k cam, but I can't use my rear camera unless I move my front camera to the right side of the truck, and I'm. not willing to do that.

    Vortex, I saw the earlier video. As good as the picture clarity is, it lacks the connectivity features of the BlackVue. I wish BlackVue did a software update so it could match Viofos video quality. They do have the same sensors in them right?

      stick with the Blackvue 970X and wait to see what bugs /problems arise with the A329 Pro, Viofo crammed a few extras in an already small unit. Needs a lot of Cooling. Little benefit for those who have the A229 Pro. It is like Intel CPU's ... tweaking up the Frequency on a chip and call it an improvement. LOL. nVidia does the same on Graphics Cards ... give you a slight boost in VR/Memory and a few notches like 4 or 5 FPS for gaming and charge you a fortune for the GPU. Small steps and not much happening. You bought a flagship today, it's outdated the rank of #1 within 3 to 6 months. However, 5 years later still just as good as any new GPU or CPU today. Tech is slow moving but always want you to buy the newest and latest when compared to a few years back, how little has things changed. I'm using a desktop I built in 2017 and the only thing I have changed are my NVMe m.2 SSD cards for more data storage like 1Tb to 2Tb, and a Case cooling fan. It runs Win10 Pro and all my programs very well. Trying to avoid Win 11 at all cost, refuse to upgrade. Okay, my USB 3.0 or 3.1 ports are not USB-C. Just use an adapter if I wanted to.

      To oversimplify, I like the A329 as a standard 1/2 channel dashcam, but if you need some of the features offered by the competition that the Viofo's lack, then you'll want to consider a different option.

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would be wildly impractical, lol. GoPros can run with batteries, for example, but they last for about an hour and constantly require you to swap batteries. You want a dashcam to be set-it-and-forget it so in practice you should use the included wiring so everything works consistently and then just tuck them out of sight behind your vehicle's body panels.

      It depends what purpose you need a Dashcam for. The Starvis 2 IMX678 is a real game changer for image clarity. You may want to wait until Xmas or next year when on Sale, maybe a better option will surface. Don't fix what is not broken. Are you willing to pay the extra $$ when you don't really need to? Does not hurt to wait and check your options later.
      Family comes first and then future retirement plans. The A129 Pro Duo was released October 2019. Personally, I'd wait 3 to 6 months since there was no rush which you did not get the A229 Pro, now be patient for the A329 Pro as to what Bugs or problems arise with the new product. Then get it.

    A329 is not available on Amazon... why???

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      When companies do this, it’s commonly because they want to get the higher margins for the initial sales without giving Amazon a cut. Once all the early adapters buy in and then they want to get it to a wider market, then they release it on Amazon too. I don’t know if that’s what’s happening here too, or if it’s related to limited inventory initially or something else, but it’s one explanation.

    • @VortexRadar

      That would require recording at 120fps to combine adjacent frames into 60 fps. It's certainly doable and there's other cameras that can do that already, but then you start running into needing faster processors, even greater thermal requirements, etc. lol

    Why I would not buy A329 in the USA: because it has only 2 channels. I was expecting that starting from 2024-2025 and the launch of Viofo 2K telephoto secondary camera, american people to buy only dashcams with telephoto lens. You know that we are waiting for the USA video regarding telephoto lens and license plates.
    Why A229 Pro with 3 channels and not A329 with 2 channels? Because as an american I would put the main A229 Pro camera and telephoto camera to the front and the rear camera on the back.
    When I would buy A329 instead of A229? When I am using Parking mode a lot. Parking mode is generating a lot of heat, some stupid owners are using windshield sun protectors and this is killing their dashcams. But before killing the dashcam they are killing the card.
    If you put the hand on the SSD and also on the card you saw that the SSD is much cooler compared to the card.
    There can be other reasons I have in mind but this post is already too long.
