I like to cut the tail on live bait at an angle. It will cause the bait swim kinda on its side, as if it’s wounded or dying. I do this when anchored up on rocks or brush piles. Works well with 8oz sinker and a long leader( 24 to 30 inches long)
Great video..thanks for sharing! Years ago you were using chicken so I started using it (thank you!) and to date, my biggest (77) was on chicken...caught a 47lber 2 weeks ago on chicken also. I never go fishing without it...I normally have shad, chicken, and perch/crappie/bass (whatever I can catch for bait) out when I troll. The past 2 days they only wanted shad...just goes to show that you never know!
In the fivers when we didn't have live shad, we used cut shad because live shad are hard to keep alive, so we'd catch them in a cast net and we would cut them into chucks but on a running river the bait would propeller in the current and catch us all kinds of cats... flatheads, blues, channels...we even caught flatheads on black spinner buzzbaits casting to the shoreline at night from the boat when the flatheads were hunting on the bank.
WoW your trees still have leaves on them up here their dropping them by the tons. It makes it a pain fishing here. Its really slow here also. Anyway keep it up.
Dry them out like jerky. Put em in direct sunlight. I do this with chicken breast and chicken thigh meat. Stays on the hook for hard casts and bites, and it slowly rehydrates in the water while spreading scent trail👌🎣
As Rob said dehydrate or I pack mine in salt which also firms it up. For me chicken breast and cut bait is much easier and very productive. I hardly ever use liver anymore.
@MAHossainTonu no, thatll cook it. Dont do that. The idea is to keep it raw. There are cheap food dehydrators that you can buy online. What i do, is lay my small bait chunks on a 3ft piece of 2x4 wood, put it outside in sunlight and flip them every couple hours. And by the end of the day, theyre tough and "gummy" but still raw👍
I paired my piscifun reels with silver cat elite rods one medium light one medium heavy.. I've tried and cannot blow the reels up. It's the only reels I use now.
Wish the lakes here in Cali whereas productive as the areas where you fish. I'm starting to feel like it's not worth buying a fishing license because the only kinds of fish we can catch are the stockers.
I quit trying to use live bait for dragging, just get too many hang ups and no real catch advantage for me. I still use live bait suspended sometimes, but I have trouble finding any real advantage.
Great show I grew up using chicken parts and night crawlers for bullhead and catfish
I have an Ugly Stik Tiger rod 7 foot it's a great rod
Wasn’t expecting to see you until almost Christmas with hunting season going on, great video deiter
Great video and fishing the blue cat was really a great catch thank you

Come by the CYC and Say hello Dieter
Hi Dieter. I have only one curious question for you. Do you take much stock in Cattin during a full moon phase ?
Thanking you in advance
Great video! My frozen chicken liver melts quickly, do you have any tips on that? may be use'em fresh?

@@rob5598 Thanks, any idea on dehydrating using the air fryer? will give it a shot for sure. 😃
@@HomesickforAlaska Thanks for the detail. Do you have a bait preference for lakes against rivers?

Idea: best weight/ setup to use to take advantage of the strong current on the Catawba when they open the dam 😀
