I love your message at the end about how you should only ride the features that *you* want to ride and nobody else cares. It makes me think of a certain MTB TH-camr who quit riding because he thought people were pressuring each other into dangerous moves.
Sounds like they were surrounded by some toxic masculinity bros 😒. Hope they can see videos like this that inform there's nothing to be ashamed of with wanting to live another day, or even just be able to walk another day. Riding should be about having fun and if you're surrounded by people who aren't making it fun anymore, cut those people out of your life. And if it's the comment section, make your stance clear that you're not a channel for that kind of dangerous content and they need to go be toxic elsewhere. Can also start bringing down the ban hammer, but I would save that as only a last resort. Either way, I hope the guy gains his desire to ride again. It seems so fun, I wish I had the physique, money, and lived in the environment for it.
I seriously felt this video. "you don't have to ride everything." I walked away today from a ride with friends (Xanadu, in WA) and walked down a steep dusty shoot that I felt had no good options for me. I was disappointed for sure, but it's 100% okay! Remember the most important trail of the day is the next one, make sure you can ride it.
That terrified me just watching. Can’t imagine how you felt in the moment, but can totally relate to being unnerved after. Your skills and balance saved you on that one… most other riders getting that loose would have had a very nasty outcome. Great to see Alastair making a cameo and joining you guys on such a challenging trail.
I have done this trail and the 2nd big roll on my ebike, but i would never even think doing this trail in the wet..Camera doesnt do justice on how steep the difficult parts are ... Good save Dave!
Incredible control while swapping out that rear end from side to side on that crazy rock roll! Well I don’t know if it’s incredible control but it was just enough and looked absolutely crazy! I’m glad you’re alive!
Okay, so I'm not the only one 😅. Not sure what the heck it is, but it seems the last few videos I've seen here, my phone is catching hell with properly showing the video for the first few minutes, as though I'm on a weak data signal instead of sitting right across from my modem. All other videos on TH-cam play just fine, only these ones will look super distorted for awhile and that hasn't been the case with most videos I've seen from him from years prior. This said, it could also be a weird issue with my phone as well. I'm using an older Samsung, but it's been good to me and I'm not ready to upgrade just yet. So, maybe my phone doesn't like his new camera, lol 😅
I'm too old now to enjoy the white knuckle gnar ride on the edge. I used to crave the danger but now I'm happy to walk around and watch other guys do it. A double black muddy mess sounds like zero fun to me these days 😆
Every time you ride through a forest like this, it makes me homesick for my beloved Washington State. It's nice to get a taste of the woods now and then!
I know the camera doesn't show how truly gnarly this was, but Dave's hesitancy proves otherwise. I love tech myself, but by no means am I in any way near Dale's or Dave's skill levels. I have a friend who's fairly new to riding mtn bikes, and I have been trying to give him my best pointers I can whenever we ride together. On one ride we had a rock roll that was only about 12' high at about a 45° angle with a dip about halfway down. My friend had never ridden anything close to this, and I was trying to explain how to roll it. He did everything right except, he sat back on his saddle after having lowered his dropper, just about the time his front wheel hit the dip.l, even when I had said to keep his hips behind the seat. Somehow he didn't get bucked and go otb....
After watching a couple of your videos I can feel ok to not ever want to ride any terrain like that! Hell, I couldn't do that on my old Gas Gas, let alone a bicycle. (Being retirement aged don't help it, either.) Enjoy it when you're young!
I'm 64 and just getting back into mountain biking. I try not to let my ego take over in bad situation, but I've done some sketchy stuff and ended up on the ground. Realitysets in pretty quick.
Thank you!! I always film in 360 so i don’t need to worry about the camera angle and so that I can reframe the footage in either vertical or widescreen
Looks like a good location to perhaps do a study about later raising the funds to put a mountain bike trail... This whole thing is like my worst riding nightma I'm a grown ass man, but I believe I would have sat down and cried!
My helmet mount? Probike 3D upper chin mount. Just ask for the one I use and he'll know what to sort you out with. I'm assuming you already have the mount that converts the X3 from tripod thread to GoPro-style prongs.
Last time I passed a moist wooden bridge I was at 5km/h speed and broke down to the side in a split second because I was just slightly angled from coming in from a curve. Hit the railing with the head. Put me in an emergency room and gave me 3 days of whiplash, broke my helmet too.
After some trial and error, I’ve settled on a range of settings for distortion and FOV depending on the footage. I usually start with -45d of vertical roll and then adjust more precisely depending on the angle my camera was mounted that ride. I use the Insta360 desktop app as it gives more precise control. Does that help?
@@ddangerousddave yes thank you. For some reason, I got mine, filmed, went on the desktop app, then saw my footage, it was all over the place, nothing like my GoPro. I had to keyframe evrything little turn I did it was really annoying. Then I went out riding again, filmed, went on the desktop app, and it was following my turns but letting me move the camera angle too! Idk what I did to it but it works way better now.
Oh make sure you turn on direction lock in either the phone or desktop app. I didn’t initially and that sounds like the issue you’re describing. It is turned off by default.
Excuse me if I don't write perfect English: A while ago I thought Dave was Dale (maybe because your nicknames/names are similar), and now I hear you call your friend "Dale", check the profiles and "Oh, they're two different riders"!. 😅
I don't understand why nobody doesn't bring a chainsaw out there and trim those branches that are blocking the path I can just picture someone riding that trail and crashing into one of those and breaking his/her neck.
Do whatever you would do without a camera. Even if you did 100ft drop to flat, people might care about it for oh maybe a few days if your lucky then there on to the next tiktok lol.

You should go to cedar city and do the c trail
dave is indeed dangerous
the other guy dale seems to be a pretty dangerous customer as well
Watching Dale’s videos, it always sounds like he is smiling when talking. Seeing him here confirmed it.
Accurate! 😀

I don’t like rock rolls anymore, damnit Dale. 😂

I'm glad you didn't die. ❤
Not dying is good, keep on not dying pls.
I legit watch because you DO want to come out alive and make smart calls. Glad you made it on that one.
Camera setup is 🔥. I've never seen you not 120% cool with a feature. Was cool to see - everyone has their oh shit moments, even you. Keep it up
That compression while askew I'm sure was a butt pucker moment. Glad you saved it man.
One of the few MTB channels, that captures the fear of going down steep hills.
I don´t know why, but your trail videos are always the most fun to watch. THX.
So fun to watch these videos w/ Dave and Dale. The bottom of that rock roll looked dicey, almost has a merging of Dave and Dale.

you know its a good day when Dave posts a new video!!!
I don't even mountain bike (mainly cause I live in Houston), but just watching the POV of you taking these lines is very satisfying 😂
Dale sounded like a local tour guide in this video.
Great message in the end. Folks, no one needs injured heroes! Ride safe.
Dave you IMO are the most talented rider on the net, sure there are huckers that can fly but when it comes to tech you are Amazing.
I'd love to see what these features look like without the distortion from the camera you're using.

you have some of the most beautiful trails!! It looks unreal, that was a big send you did at 2:57 !! I would be shook as well 😅
I like the subtle wind noise here and there. Adds to the ambience.
Dammit Dale and Dangerous Dave, rock rolling the mountain side, one brake at a time.
”See if we can make it down.. in one piece 😉” I like the positive vibes 😂

Not often we see you and /or Dale take a ride-around! Awesome vid, thx.
To me it seems most of the videos either of them do in a group seem to primarily consist of Dave, Dale and Nick.
please Dale, wear your holy kneepads for the love of your knees 😔🙏
NO IDEA how you avoided a severe crash on that rock roll but so glad you didn't. Gave me sweaty palms over here...
I love the recap of that rock roll at the end by Pragmatic Dave

Rodeo Dave doing the dangerous deed yet again
We need to start a GoFundMe and get Dale some knee pads.
That was sketchy dave!good thing you held well from top to bottom without crashing on that scary steep techy rock roll🤙🏽
These videos just keep me in a good mood
That was great to see, shows how tough the trails are. I would have ate shit, great job.
Dale high tailed it out of there. That was Gnarly.
Thanks for another great video Dave :) Love from Australia!
Same
Dammit, Dale.
🙈
@@DaleStone LOL!
Dale is the ray of sunshine we all need in our caskets ... i mean lives, in our lives.
Next month "Hey guys I'm here doing this really crazy rock roll.." - Dave

You know parts of that trail are steep when the trees look like the star lines when the Millennium Falcon goes into hyperspace.
You being a trials Rider makes me understand why you are so great at riding
Sunday Save worthy!
Some serious target fixation on Dale 😂
Max pucker factor on that rock roll and in a number of other spots.
now i understand why u chose 180 in the front haha
What kind of deadcat are you using? Have big problems with windnoise at the x3
Do you always film in 360 mode with the x3? Great fan of your TH-cam channel!
Thank you!! I always film in 360 so i don’t need to worry about the camera angle and so that I can reframe the footage in either vertical or widescreen
They don't call him Dangerous Dave for nothing
Those are some tuff ass trails... what part of the country is this in? anybody know? looks like Pacific NWest
Cambodia 🇰🇭

That was intense...
certainly one of the most hardcore trails youve done on the channel.
This is insane 😳 😂
Love this stuff ❤
What mount do you have for your Insta 360? Trying to find it but cant
My helmet mount? Probike 3D upper chin mount. Just ask for the one I use and he'll know what to sort you out with. I'm assuming you already have the mount that converts the X3 from tripod thread to GoPro-style prongs.
i wanna know who makes all the crazy trails this guy is crazy 🤪
I have to watch your videos with my phone up in the air to compensate for the feeling of steepness. I'm too old for these emotions.
Getting pretty dangerous there Dave!! Good riding though buddy!
Also cool seeing more interaction and more of Dale here! Gives your videos more of an immersive feel to me.
Sure have to hold your nerve riding these trails at this time of year.
holy crap that trail is no joke
Sick trail. I would love to see a heart beat monitor in the corner of your vids, although no clue how to accomplish something like that
Last time I passed a moist wooden bridge I was at 5km/h speed and broke down to the side in a split second because I was just slightly angled from coming in from a curve. Hit the railing with the head. Put me in an emergency room and gave me 3 days of whiplash, broke my helmet too.
good day can i ask what kind of helmet mount did u use it
These videos are making me want to buy a solid downhill bike
Today I learned that you can back up on a bike without getting off 😅
I think your audio is swapped. The left audio is on the right and the right audio is on the left.
Insta360 is so underrated in the mtb world even though the make the best povs by far
One of my riding buddies is Dangerous Dan. Very similar.😅
no rock rolls anymore?
..and in the next episode... steep rock rolls ;-P
Pretty Dangerous, Dave!
Do you have a reframing stratigy/technique?
