  • This video demonstrates that you can add factory remote start to fifth generation Chrysler Town and Country mini vans which didn't come from the factory with this featured enabed.
    Things you'll need:
OBD2 to USB/wireless/Bluetooth adapter. Anything that will allow it to talk to a Windows laptop
    AppCar version 1.6
    A Windows laptop
A hood ajar switch and mount
keyfob button pad with remote start button, can be added to an existing fob which doesn't have the button.
    AppCar instructions are here:
    appcar-diagfca...
I may have said WMS module once or twice, I meant WCM module, sorry.
This is a very easy process, follow the instructions and it will just work.
I did not add the extended range antenna, nor do I cover that, but other owners have done so.

Where did you get new button pad for key fob? Also where did you get hood switch too? Thanks for the cool video and thanks in advance for answering

I bought the button pad on Amazon. I bought my hood switch from an online Chrysler parts dealer. Here's an eBay listing for the button pad. www.ebay.com/itm/284274789281
A Google search will get you the hood switch. Be sure to also buy the hood switch mount.

They all don't come with remote start

That is partially correct. Mine did not come with remote start. However this capability is available in very nearly all of the 2008 to 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan's and Chrysler Town and Country minivans. My van's from 2013.
You could use Appcar ahead of making any programming changes to verify you can add remote start to your van. appcar-diagfca.com/en/diy/remote-start/chrysler-and-dodge-minivans/
If that feature isn't found in your van's computers you'll have to add a third party remote start kit. But, this process saves a lot of time and money, and is worth trying. Also, at least on my van, I was able to enable the four wheel tire pressure display by just enabling it on the van's computer. I can now bring up a display showing me all four tires air pressure, and if I do have a low tire, instead of just getting the low tire pressure warning indicator, I'm shown which tire is low.
Other mods can be a bit hardware intensive to perform, so I've not bothered with them.

@James Doty thanks I'll check it out as for a remote start I had to order one and install it myself on my 2014 grand Caravan sxt but I also have a 2013 dodge journey sxt 3.6l I can look up before ordering a remote starter for it.

@@Relevantminded I like this option. You don't have to do any wiring, and it's very fast to set up.

I was looking into after market remote start systems when I found out about enabling built in remote start.

@James Doty I'll have to check with my local dealer with my Vin and see if it's built in or not
