These vehicles fulfill a need and even if they are not the prettiest thing to look at, they do meet the needs of millions of families. Over the past few years though, there has been a resurgence in the minivan category and the new vehicles hitting the road are packed with as much convenience and technology as many luxury cars. The Chrysler Town & Country is one such automobile. The base price on a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country is just over $30k, but you can easily spec one out to $45k by adding all the bells and whistles. Still, these represent a great value and meet the needs of those who have to transport a family.
Owning a minivan (especially for a younger person) used to be a scary thought. Now though, times have changed. The 2013 Chrysler Town & Country is about more than hauling family around. The minivan has become today's modern utility vehicles. On the outside, Chrysler recognizable design features like the front grill are evident. Along the side there are various chrome elements. Though there is not a lot of form there is a ton of function. Just using the key fob you can open and close the 2 sliding doors and the rear hatch.
Under the hood of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country is a 3.6 liter V-6 engine that is capable of making 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy is 17 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway.
On the inside of the Town & Country there is a whole lot going on just as you would expect. There is rear seat entertainment with flip down video screens, climate control, and comfortable captain's chairs in the second row. The 3rd row of seats can be stowed flat with the touch of a button which gives you tons of cargo space. The driver also enjoys a ton of features including comfortable seats, navigation screen, blind sport monitoring, and more.
The 2013 Chrysler Town & Country is an adequate minivan for the segment. But at the $43k as test price this automobile should be a bit more refined. There are some great features, but there are other auto manufacturers looking to get a piece of the pie. That said, the Town & Country is still one of the best vehicles on the planet to transport people.

My folks just bought a Town n Country and love it, they're in their mid 80's and they really like how it drives. I drove it and was surprised at the engine, this thing is actually pretty quick.

Dude, do your research before you review something like this. The 3.6 vvt pentastar is the most powerful and one of the best engines , if not the best, in its class on the entire market right now.

I couldnt say much about the engine but the interior is master piece. Engineering at its best !!

In my opinion the T&C is Great. My family owns TWO of them, a 2008 and a 2012 and they both are wonderful to drive and ride in. The 08 has at least 114k miles on it and it still runs great. Yes the transmission can be rough at times but who really cares? As for the 2012? Just hands-down great!! Where else can you possibly find a minivan that comes with DVD, touchscreen, great engine, power doors, STANDARD at $25k? Excatly.
The 3.6L is a great engine! 283 HP....more than enough. The constant comparison between mini vans and sports cars doesn't make any sence.
The fact that the rear latch operates the gate manually is genious. All other manufacturers should follow suit. Key fob, close button inside and buttons up front...that's enough. I like that I can grab the latch and throw the gate open quickly. I'd pick one of these vans over the Honda or Toyota just based on bang for the buck.
Town and country are the best minivans
I have to ignore his down thoughts, this car is awesome. Hes right , its not just for a family, it can be to hall friends, a utility vehicle and more. Have to say , would choose this over all of the other higher qualitie vans.
duh, They made the tailgate assuming that if you grab the handle, you are planning on using it manually, thus not needing the automatic lift.
U can open with Key fob so I never touch that handle
Our 2013 back hatch does have power assist when grappling the handle. It kicks in about 1/4 or 1/3 of the way open.
The old 4.0L was in inline six and it remains one of my favorite engines (despite being a very heavy engine)

An update for the Pentastar engine?... it is barely 2 years old!! it's weird because everyone else says this es a great motor!
My Auntie Has this Van it's a Nice Van they Travel alot the doors shut by there self's and also has a Back up camera & a key fob!
what jeep did this engine used to be in that people complained about? the pentastar v6 is great. also the hatch mechanism isnt powered when you pull it by hand so that it doesnt damage the power motors.

I love minivans, I think they are great. I would not necessarily buy one, but they are very comfortable, nice to drive and this one has lots of great features.
also my cousin has a oddyssy (i dont know how to spell it and im to lazy to open a new tab) i plugged my xbox in her minivan and it blew a fuse or something happened but with my town and country i had a wii going and an xbox and 4 electronics all plugged in at once you should of seen all the wires going on. 16 hours of fun.

So I have a 2013 town and country and can someone who may know tell me why mine doesn’t have the buttons in the back or the press start or the 2nd DVD player?
LOYAL TO THE FOIL I also bought mine used and it has the blue lights too I guess that’s what they’re for lol movie theater lights makes sense ok thank you so much it was driving me crazy

The 3.8 was the old! the 3.6 vvt is the pentastar that they just began putting in their engines.

Terrible video for a really nice mini van. At first I thought it was going to be a nice review in regards to how good mini vans are at doing most everything good such as having more cubic inch room that a Suburban. Instead it seems people that review the T&C cut them down for just being a mini van. Such a dense statement in regards to the engine needing an update how dumb can someone be. Even the 3.8 was a good engine one of my 4 mini vans went 177,000 miles with it and was still going strong when I purchased my 2013. This review reminded me of one your partner did on the 2014 he tested when he claimed the second roll of seats did not adjust for and aft. I work as a K-9 officer for SAR of not just humans but other things. My department purchased my T&C to carry not just my K-9 but our gear and it like the others I have used takes a beating. We tried a Honda a few years back although it was a nice vehicle it could not take the every day abuse our officers put our departments 4 other mini vans through. You could not even di scribe the second roll of seats being a no cost option that the van u tested had. If one orders or locates one with the rear matching the front seats instead of the stow and go seats you still have the storage where the seats would fold into the floor. On a scale of ten being the best and 1 being the worst I would rate your review a 3. It sucked and you claimed to have had this van what a week. Oh one more thing what good is a power lift gate if the battery is dead thus the manual operation of it you complained about. Plus if it's pouring rain one can open it manually quicker that they open by pushing a button. BAD review just as bad as the review of the 2014 like I so stated. This is my last time watching your poor reviews and others should follow in my opinion. Thank You

Engine "Due for an upgrade" ? Someone needs to do some research, the engine is just 2 years old and has been on Wards best engine list 2 years in a row. That isn't the old 3.8L that was shared with the older Jeep Wrangler that you seemingly think it is. The 3.6L Pentastar is one of the best V6's you can currently buy.

Wow, looking back just one year ago Autobytel had no complaints on the van like you do, see after driving now you are saying it shifts smooth? Make up your mind. It is crisp. I have owned several and your opinions are really back and fourth with your opinions, its good, its bad no its good again. Wow. You have no clue.
Smoothness on shifting? Wow, drive the previouse 2010 and older, these are very smooth shifting. You should have done your research and mentioned that those center seats were an option to have those full captain seats that dont stow in the floor, that they also well most will come with the stow and go ( smaller in size captain seats) that stow in the floor

True that! I think the Sienna is ugly too. I have gotten used to the Odyssey look, which I hated at first. The journos never mention the FACT that Chrysler got rid of the sliding door gash 15 years ago and the others can't engineer that out yet.
the 4.0 that was in the 2008 to 2010 Chrysler and Dodge minivans as an option to the 3.8 was not the same as the inline strait 6 that Jeep and AMC had and was last produced in 2006 in remaining Jeep Wranglers when it was phased out.

Chryslers pentastar 3.6 v6 is a very good and refined engine! love it in my 15 grand cherokee
wrong on the fact that you have the option of manual on the liftgate, if you don't want to use the power option, is it that hard to actually open it from the latch? No, I own a 2012. Also, the engine is not rough, it came out in '11 in Chryslers accross the board, all Chrysler, Dodge, Jeeps with the 6 cyl had the new 3.6 pentastar V6. That was the point, a world engine with better torque, hp and fuel economy, so what do you mean it is what was in the Jeeps? It came out in 2011 all the same time
Well, when I checked on Chrysler website for Town and Country, it says 17 on local and 25 on highway. You got a better deal there.
the highest is 43 msrp! you can get for 38K, but do you care if it has built in wifi or the subwoofer? You can get the Touring L for 32K with TVs etc
exactly, this guy is not a good reporter that knows his facts. Jeep never had the 3.6 Pentistar engine until all of the Chrysler made vehicles did in 2011

He really should mention the stuff you can get on a T&C that you can't get on others. Like HDMI on the videos and stowing front seats. And if you are harping on the price, mention the Japanese prices for the full up versions of theirs.

I think you were a little wrong with your statement about the rough & unrefined engine...you are thinking of the old 4.0L V6, not he pentastar. You kind of changed your tune about it later in the review when you were driving. As for the soft or vague steering, it's a luxury minivan, not a sport sedan...check the demographic that purchases these vehicles. I had an '02 Grand Caravan and it was a great vehicle for when we had kids & dogs...wish I had a new one, but wifey is an SUV lover...
the grand caravan in my opinion is the best minivan out there... there are some pros and cons but my fav is the challenger no doubt

You can buy this 2013 equipped like his for $13000 like I did last weekend....looks new...drives new and I have all these features for the price of a Chevy spark! Oh and I am still under Chrysler 100k power train warranty! I can deal with a little cheese with his wine
how many miles did it come with?
+Rich Lo 82k miles. It has almost 91k now. No issues and the pentastar is a beast
but hang on. you had the chrysler limited, i have the "s" version, the sport. The brakes are better, the steering is better, the suspension is harder yet some how a better ride than the limited, better gearbox, engine has a bit more power. Its sporty and it has quick steering

I live in Canada so the price is a bit higher. I've seen one in Alberta with a 50k price tag, and another one in Ontario at the Toronto auto show with a 40k price tag.
The price of the most expensive version here in Norway will be over 160K $.It is about 100K just for the motor tax.
-There are 200K $ in fees for a new Camaro. And it now costs 350k $ , at least.

why is someone who doesn't have kids reviewing a minivan? I like the foreign car bias as well..... I have driven Sienna, it's no more "fun to drive" the styling IMO is ugly for a minivan. the honda put a vaccum in BFD. Im a minivan owner and the Chrysler was the best bang for the buck.

You are right. Chrysler do need to make some changes to their minivan. It great, and my family actually owns one. They should change the engine, the Touchscreen, and steering wheel handling for the vehicle. Hopefully they will for 2015 and up. When you ordered the vehicle did It come with all that stuff in It. The sunroof, push button start, third-row power seat, remote start and wood/leather steering wheel?
they are going to totally redo the whole entire minivan so the are not going to spend the money now to update the interior when they are just going to do a complete overhaul on the entire vehicle

Stow and go is a game changer, but it's not as good looking as odyssey. Stow and go makes this the only one to buy but it doesn't look great :(

The lowest that is still plentifull of creatures is 24K, the highest Town and Country LIMITED model with built in wifi, sunroof, subwoofer 9 speaker radio is 43msrp and u can buy for 38K.
We just bought one. It has everything but leather and the power third row seating. We like it but the engine is just gutless, especially with the a/c on. Even with it off the trans will downshift going up almost any grade. Needs more hp/tq. The center console could be bigger and the armrests are too small and too hard.
It handles better than the 2010 van we traded for it and the ride is MUCH better. The interior is much better too with the electronics nav screen and two DVDs.
