@@KuroMicra Yeah its an awesome car, I have a 2017 Civic SR in Red and it looks so nice and is a joy to drive. Its amazing how good of a driver's car it really is, and drives very sporty at high revs.
Hi, I just bought the car yesterday at 53000 miles. Is the ticking sound in the engine normal? Also, at what sort of mileage did you change the timing belt? Thanks

Great review! I actually test drove the same model last week, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting much from a 1l, 3 pot, even with the turbo. However, I was really surprised with how smooth the engine was, and how slick the gearbox was. I wasn't keen on the look either, but once I saw it in person in the showroom, I really changed my mind. I was tempted with the 1.5 sport version, but my local Honda dealer told me there was quite a long wait for that model- 16 weeks. Moreover, in reality, I know that the model I'd test driven would be more than adequate for my needs, so I ordered one in rallye red. I've watched quite a few of your reviews, and always find them extremely well balanced. It's refreshing to see reviews minus the gimmicks, and clarkson-esque humour.
Hi Simon. Wow, thank you for all of that. Agreed, engine and gearbox on the 3-pot are both brilliant. Well done on ordering one! When will it arrive? As for our reviews, you're too kind, thank you. It takes a lot of work to put one together, so it's good to know people are watching and enjoying! SW
Well, I've had the Civic for a couple of weeks now, and I'm quite impressed with it. I love the smooth gearbox, cabin layout, cabin and boot space, and the electric lumbar support. The ride quality is surprisingly good, as is front visibility. The rear visibility was always going to be compromised by the spoiler, but I haven't had any noticeable problems, plus the rear view camera does help to mitigate this when reversing. I'm also impressed with the variable ratio steering, which makes driving around twisty A roads rather fun. Allied to the multi link rear suspension, I feel very reassured when cornering at speed. The turn in is far better than I expected too. I was expecting the infotainment to be disappointing, judging by some of the reviews, but after a good play around, it's not really all that bad. It certainly isn't class leading, but I've found it perfectly acceptable. That 1 litre engine really is a gem, apart from the somewhat throaty rapid rasp I get in 1st gear, once you move up gears, it's pretty refined for such a small engine. I'm still not keen on the rear end styling, but, other than that, I'm really happy with my purchase.
Simon Mellor how you getting on with this now mate? I have the 1.0L turbo SR, I do a mix of dual carriageway and b roads on my 16 mile work commute each way...currently only getting 29mpg in eco mode and im a relatively gentle driver.

Mate I’m doing 41mpg with mine in London. Mix M25 and city driving on a 24 mile commute round trip . What works for me is as less gear changes as possible and breaking as less as possible. You don’t want to push the acceleration too much.
I have a 2009 8th gen Civic with 1,8 naturally aspirated R18 engine, been flooring it since then for 100k miles already, still I've never had 29 mpg suburban consumption even when doing 90-100 mph on highways.
I cant help being a little bit sceptical about a 1,0 liter engine is such a large car. So while 129 hp is more than enough, I would go for the 1,5. It will provide effortless power in all situations, and real world fuel consumption will likely be much closer to the 1,0, than it is in the artificial EU-test. If you are a really high mileage user, wait for the diesel.
I'd go for the 1.5 litre as well if I'm honest, but for a three-cylinder engine it's really quite good. And yes, if you're driving high mileage the diesel might be better, but we'll have to drive it first to find out! SW
fundiver198 and that's exactly why here in Pakistan Honda only released the 1.5 turbo and 1.8 engine variants ...sadly we don't get hatchbacks here yet
We skipped the 1.0 litre here in Canada. Only 2.0 and 1.5 litre since we pay fuel excise taxes, not on engine displacement. The 1.5 doesn’t have to work anywhere near as hard-peak torque occurring at 1800 RPM-so you can keep it in 5th or 6th gear for 40 MPH driving and it will still pull. It will likely return better real world fuel economy.
I know that the shouldn't be compared because of the price and the size of them but..How does the driving experience compare to the new swift you reviewed recently in terms of an agile car fun to drive, as a first car? I really like your video reviews, keep up the good work!
Next he’ll talk about the colour, I want to know engineering detail. Honda doesn’t give information on its web site, I mean things like is it direct injection, if so in what configuration, how many sensors, where, doing what. How does the computer control, what cpu does it use. What octane fuel does it use. How does the gear box work etc
I get 38-40mpg, pretty good for a 1.0l VTEC Turbo petrol - and it handles + performs excellent for a 1.0L engine, you would never think its a 1.0L its so strong! (feels more like a 1.5 or 1.8l engine with the type of response and performance it achieves (VTEC technology is amazing))
Luka Nobody will really know if there are any little weaknesses for a while yet because it's an all new engine. But it comes with a three year/90,000 mile warranty in the UK.
It may be getting on a bit but it is good enough to hold its own. I would much rather the current 1.6 at the price theyre offering than pay £2-3k more for a newer version which in all likelihood wouldn't make that much difference.
Terrible review. Work on your present skills. There was very little objective info. A good review should blend facts with opinion presented in a confident way. Your not selling us the car (unless they sponsor u) have some fun!!

Hi guys is there a big difference between the 2017 version and 2019 version. Just to confirm both are the new design and are 1 litre..
