I've so enjoyed these newer videos where you are really letting us meet and hear and see your 3 older boys!!! They are so respectful! Interesting to hear their opinions on so many different things! They don't interrupt when someone else is talking or sharing ideas, they really seem to enjoy not only sharing their knowledge of so many different Alaska opportunities but letting the other older boys do as well!!!
Just for the record, Lauren did say exactly what the mission was before the hunt started. This beautiful family has always been 100% authentic about how they obtain their meat. I realize not everyone can watch this type of content. That’s okay too.
Exactly. It's not like they sprung it on anyone
@@Yaya2214CJ Regardless of that the thumbnail is insensitive and offensive
@@Yaya2214CJ Except they did with the thumbnail. There was no reason to put the bear in the thumbnail.
OMG, that was hard to watch for me, because I don't eat meat 😭.
@@shirleyvalentine2794 that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. You don't have any right to ask or tell Lauren or anyone else what to do and how to "live" their life. This is how WE Alaskans choose to live and to know where our food comes from. We live here because we enjoy our freedoms and how to live off the land. God intended for us to live this way. To each their own, but YOU don't have any right to demand anything from Lauren and her family.. OR anyone else for that matter. Either watch or don't watch. THAT is your choice, and right.
Have a blessed day.
What a wonderful video. I really enjoyed that. Both dinners looked amazing. This video was perfect. Had a little bit of everything
I have never hunted , however, I do eat meat . I simply try to buy responsibly. As other commentators have pointed out , this family is ALWAYS very clear that their main source of protein is from hunting , fishing, etc . This is not a sport . Mark would never encourage his sons to shoot just for a trophy . That would be abhorrent , and totally against his morals . He would never have allowed either Hunter or Bennet to take aim unless he was sure that it would be a clean kill , no suffering . That was what made him proud . He is doing a great job .
These boys are having a wonderful life learning from their Dad.
I'm mostly vegetarian but I've always paid attention when the men in our extended family went hunting (I am 66 and grew up when only males went hunting. I asked but my grandfather said"no".). I think it is smart to learn to hunt and prepare meat. Naysayers can skip this video but I'm looking at it as a learning experience. Congrats to Mark, Hunter and Bennett!
I love how honest they are. It is ok that people do not like hunting but do not criticize her family for doing so. Enjoy your meat!
Lauren did say they are a hunting and fishing family . This is a way of life, at least they eat what they kill. Im vegetarian myself but i still watch the family.
Congratulations Hunter and Bennett and Mark. I really enjoy watching your family living off the land. Your sons are so talented. ❤
Not going to lie, I felt sorry for the bears, I said “ohh” out loud 🙁 BUT! I completely understand it’s not to hurt them at all!!! I know and understand the Hams are a hunting family! There is nothing wrong with that!! It’s a great thing to know how to provide food for your family! The boys did an amazing job!!! 😊 it was really cool to see the meat getting all cut up and packaged!!
We have only made salami in our family so to see how you guys do it is really cool 😊
I loved this video 😊
That was such a cool episode! I love how Mark is teaching the boys how to hunt responsibly and use the meat they harvest. It was interesting to see how bear is processed, compared to pork that our family processed during my childhood years on the farm. Love seeing little Violet growing and doing well.
Wonderful to see cast iron pan being used and not the poisonous, non stick, teflon coated pans everyone seems to be drawn to. Love you guys! Awesome job fella's! These are Real men!
Love how your family works together and Mark is such a good teacher of all things outdoors! Blessings, Miss Linda 💞💞💞
This is the childhood some kids can only dream about. It's always fantastic to see what Mark and the boys get up to in the great outdoors of Alaska!!
Violet is so cute. I'm glad Hunter and Bennett got the bears they are such good shots. Did they both get the bears in one shot. Now you have meat in the freezer. Congratulations Hunter and Bennett. Prayers and Love 💜 From Oklahoma
My one son would love living and being taught how to hunt and prepare his own meat. He loves fishing but never has anyone to go with.
I'm not a seafood person I learned alot about the process Violet is growing so fast she's adorable 😊 🙏🙏
I admire how you are raising your sons. Self reliance and respect, giving thanks to God. Well done. Great episode !
As a hunting and fishing family in Montana, I appreciate videos exactly like this. I didn’t grow up hunting, but as an adult it’s absolutely wild that i am able to provide for my family. I hope others understand that hunting is normal and healthy! Thank you again for sharing your adventures and Happy Father’s Day to Mark for teaching your family all you know 😊
I Will Call The Food Network Tomorrow, To Give You A Call, "Cooking Fresh From Alaska" You Are Welcome. 😂 Great Video!!! Thanks
Such a proud papa! Mark is the best father these boys could have ever dreamed of!
I love the follow up. Love, Love that they saved the pelts. Shrimp (prawns), squid, bear. Grand trip. I congratulate the hunters And the preservers! Thank you! And, Mark, brilliant time with your boys. They will never forget. 🥰🥰🥰❤
Hi Lauren! I’m fairly new to watching your channel and I love learning about Alaska from you and your family! Although, I’m newer to this channel, I’ve heard you explain the meat you eat on multiple occasions, so this video didn’t surprise me. Thank you for sharing your Alaska life with all of us! As a side note, I respect you so much for not deleting the negative comments because many creators do. Thank you for keeping it real! ❤
Love your family but couldn’t take this one
Thank you for sharing this video. What a wonderful family dynamic!😊
What a fun video! Love you and your family! Thanks for sharing!
Those shrimp looked so good! Thank you Mark and Lauren. The boys are lucky to have a dad like you! Baby Violet is so adorable! 😊
I can't begin to tell you how excited I am , because I know its only a matter of time til we get the cabin videos. I love those. They are my absolute favorite. Whooo hoooo
Had never heard of watermelon berry shoots -no AK has mentioned them , that I have watched. Add to your list -my list too. This was wonderful! For your pantry, your young men and us. 🥰
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS. WHAT A GREAT HUNT!!!! GREAT SHOT BOYS !!!
I want to say to those who post on comments that they are upset over this hunt. LET ME SIT YOU STRAIGHT& INFORM YOU.
This family doesn’t hunt for sport. They hunt for meat!! They consume what they kill. These boys have learned so much from Mark . Mark you are a great Father by teaching your boys skills. My Dad was a hunter & we sold all the game we killed. My mom wouldn’t cook it & she wasn’t supporting of my Dad. I’m 62 & a lady who went hunting & fishing in Indiana & Kentucky with my Dad. He taught me I skill I used when first married in 1980. Times were tuff for a 18 year old & 19 year old but I put the meat on the family table. With everything happening in Florida waters with Russian warships. These life skills will save you. SO YOU ARE GOING TO GO HUNGRY & WONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT TO DO. SADLY LIFE is going to change in America!!!! PRAYERS FOR AMERICA
GOD BLESS FROM WEST CENTRAL INDIANA FARMLAND
I completely agree and the ignorance and intolerance of the naysayers is exactly why people choose to live in places like Alaska. We need more parents choosing to raise their children to live off the land and be more self sufficient. There are regulations put on game and wildlife and hunting is necessary to control population. Keep living life your way Mark and Lauren and I commend you for sharing your experience and knowledge with others. ❤
Let me set you straight don't speak to people like they are idiots please I understand why they do it but I don't need to see the animals dead thanks and yes I've unsubscribed from the channel
Truth right there. We also hunt for meat to fill our freezer. Hate eating store bought meats. We also buy half a cow to stock our freezer. So much better then store bought
So sorry that your mother did not support your father in his efforts to support your family. Still glad that despite this, you had a positive response to your father's efforts .🎉
The benefits of living in Alaska… you can still live a “frontier” lifestyle… you hunt, fish, catch and grow your food. It’s my dream to live in the Last Frontier state!
Great video. I love how every part of the bear was utilized. Even as bait for the shrimp. ❤. I definitely enjoy the meat. Looks like they had a great time. I definitely need a little boat like this. Great hunt guys!! Congratulations boys!
These kids must be some of the luckiest kids alive! What an amazing life you live in Alaska. Feeling like our life in Norway is really tame, and a bit boring compared😅
Thank you for sharing this interesting video your family are so open with how you live and as a viewer i find how you live informative and engaging and enjoy it. Your family is amazing your children are so lucky to have parents like you
Violet is precious and is getting so big god bless her.. I love watching your videos your family is so down to earth and you show so much love for each other..❤️🙏
To anyone who thinks this video is inhumane, I guess you have never seen how your meat from your store purchases was raised, killed, and processed. This is much more humane than that! This family has always been upfront and transparent that they are a hunting and fishing family and that they live off of what they take from nature and they are very thankful and respectful for nature provides them. Please don’t judge them or make false assumptions. To the Hamm family, I love all of your videos and respect your way of life, your beliefs, and the way you are raising your family, and I will continue to watch and enjoy your videos.
All meat is murder!
We live near slaughter houses! The smells are horrible and the noises are even better! One place was taken hostage because they didn't get their Christmas bonuses! State police helicoptered in and dropped bags with their checks because they were going to start processing supervisors like the animals! the animals are packed in like sardines in the slaughter trucks! They vomit, pee and crap all over! They scream and cry! They if they are lucky get knocked over the head to knock them out and then hog tied and have their neck slashed and sent on upside down still thrashing with blood gushing out! The workers wear waders because the blood runs like a river! Once drained they either get packaged raw or get cooked! Yum! So the back ends of the slaughter house smell like vomit, pee, blood and crap and the front cooked whatever they were killing that day! I had to service a machine in the break room at the ex-con place! The guard said stay on the safety mats running along the floor or you will kill yourself! The door opened and the place looked like a big lard cave! Lard was everywhere! The walls, ceilings and the ceilings! The workers in the break room were just wonderful! The language was horrific! They probably put bets on whether I would fall! I had to hold on the handrails because my shoes were covered in lard! The guard had a tub to stand in with soapy water then a scarping strip to take off the lard! He gave me a handful of wipes! He said don't forget to wipe your face and shampoo your hair twice when you go home! Your shoes will probably be ruined! I threw my shoes away and my clothes I'll never forget that smell!
@@daveshoemaker7137 meat is murder as I have already said, this doesn’t take away the fact that killing a wild animal when there’s a huge Costco around the corner is vile.
@@lesleyjackson1855 Yes I totally agree!
What an incredible part of the world you live in! Thanks so much for sharing. To the naysayers, food is expensive in Alaska, and because of the climate it isn't feasible to grow a lot of plant food. It is totally normal there to hunt and fish for food - this is part of the culture. These kids can feel really proud that they are learning how to feed their families.
I Love this, WOW. I have been checking every day since your last video. Hoping this one would be up. Thank you very much for sharing. WTG Mark, Hunter and Bennett.
Loved the video, love they way your family always workes together.
What a wonderful birthday present to get a new video from you. Your Alaska adventure videos are my favorite. Violet is getting so big. Seeing her smile makes my day.
I wish you a very happy birthday today. Hope your day is extra special. 🥳

Happy Birthday mine is tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing your family and your Alaskan life with us.
awesome job Bennett and Hunter Congratulations 🎉
Yay! Thank you!
I have grown up with hunters and fisherman in my family. We eat what we harvest in western NC. Bear meat is wonderful.
Hello an wow their is till so much snow. An yeah great job hunting boys. ❤🎉an the food looks amazing I'd love to grab a plate. Everything looks so yummy ❤
Wow! Those two young men made hunting bear look easy. Mark is such a wonderful father. Wishing him a very Happy Father’s Day. Great job working together to get the job done and the family fed. 😊
Hello! Thanks for inviting us along. The boys are really becoming skilled. Have a great Summer. Hope you are taking good care Lauren.
Peek a boo little Violet, so nice to see you again! Your dinner of shrimp and squid looked amazing.
Omg people are funny this is not the only alaskin family that hunts their own food... its also how Alaska maintains animals so they aren't over populated. The people don't take more than they need.
Maybe check out simple living Alaska also they hunt and can.. they more wildlife than this couple .. and the filming is amazing
@@michellegrew77Love Eric and Arielle on Simple Living Alaska. All of these families hunt for food. This protein is the same category of food people buy. I am amazed that people are expressing their displeasure. I don’t think I could kill an animal unless threatened but, I wasn’t raised with the skill set needed to do it correctly. I am a nurse and have seen inside the human body so, overall, it doesn’t gore me out too much. I’m glad that This Alaska Life and Simple Living Alaska are doing their thing.
@suseyq4559 I'm Australian so their way of life is completely different to mine... I love living in a gun free society couldn't imagine giving my kids a weapon... as it is its not the weapon it's the person wielding it.
@@michellegrew77 America is not a gun free society. I’m glad you feel comfortable living as you do. I feel comfortable living as I do. My family is in law enforcement so we have a different view than you do. My grandchildren have had guns their whole life. We all go to the shooting range together. We respect life. Even in a gun free society like yours, there are people who own guns and abuse that privilege. Take care, enjoy these great TH-cam channels, I sure do!
@@suseyq4559 it's what we know right x
Our family had two daughters. I was the daughter who grew up hunting with my Dad (mostly whitetail deer). Congrats to Hunter and Bennett on their success on this hunting trip. I lost my Dad last summer. Thank you for the memories your video provided.
Very sorry for your loss. Prayers sent
Violet is adorable and so loved 💜
Love catching food and preparing it what a great life this family has
Bears are so beautiful. I cant hunt them. Maybe if they are over populated i could.
Once again Mark gets Father of thr Year ! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful family with us. It warms my heart watching your family grow. Much love from Michigan.
Great shot boys! How nice that your dad is willing to take you on this type of trip to teach you how to hunt. Lots of food additions for the freezer.😊
I didn’t know bears were safe to eat. Learn something new everyday!
There are certain times they are riddled with worms and unsafe to eat!
I love this family so much. 💗
Awesome job everyone and it looked delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for that wonderful video .what a great life your children have learning so much about life your husband is teaching your boys to be great men someday thank yall for all the hard work yall put into the videos I really enjoy watching and spending time with your family I'm coming from Mobile Alabama
I boil squid tentacles and potatoes and make a potato and squid salad with lots of fresh garlic and parsley and olive oil!
Sounds great!
What everyone keeps forgetting or not mentioning is that each state in this country has a Wildlife/Fish/Game department whose job it is to ascertain the population of “huntable” animals. To then regulate how many, what gender, age etc that can be hunted that year with however many licenses have been sold. ITS CALLED WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT. It is not healthy for the wildlife to have a huge population of animals to land to people etc. It makes it completely unhealthy for the animals that way. Yes there folks who are poaching illegally certain animals at wrong times etc however penalties are stiff in this country. Look it up before and get educated before coming down on people you know nothing about.
This ☝️, very well said.
Sad to say that in UK wildlife management is not really understood as a necessity . Many years ago the National Trust ( a " charity " that manages many stately homes and estate's), was left an island on which there was a herd of deer . In their wisdom???? It was decided to stop culling the herd in the belief that they would self regulate their numbers. The result was catastrophic, overpopulation within a few year's, leading to starvation.we share this planet and we have a responsibility to share it with other living creature's. As for thinking all creature's apart from humans are innocent , if you think animals only kill out of need , you have never seen the slaughter after a fox attack on a hen house !!! They don't just take what they need , they slaughter all they can. I commend you Lauren and Mark for raising responsible children .
A very educated, informed, and well written comment! Thanks!
I score the squid before I cook with it. Helps during the cooking process. Looks tasty!
You guys are amazing. We all should take a lesson and learn from your family. You fish, hunt, garden, and Costco.
Congratulations boys!
In war or end times all the people who complain about hunters will be the first to want the Hamm family on their survival team lol we need this skill and knowledge.
IKR!!! Well pointed out 👍
❤been watching a long time but sorry couldn't watch this one. Been vegan over 22 years
50 years!
What a feast! This was fascinating! Your kids are amazing….because of great parenting!
Awesome 😊
Thanks 🤗
Couldn’t watch because of the hunting part but love your family and your videos so I’ll wait for the next video :)
Great video ! Nothing wasted . Thanks for sharing
I have hunted deer and elk and helped butcher them. It was our main source of meat, and my pediatrician told me that the wild meat was better for my kids than commercially sold meat. And that was before they added hormones to meat! There’s much evidence that the added hormones can cause early onset puberty. My kids are 47, 45, and 38, and they grew up on wild meat. Nice work everyone!!
The family hunts and fish for food only. The family does not do it for sport. I totally respect that.
What noodles are you eating as spaghetti?? It looks like Gnocchi! Looks so delicious!
Fantastic shooting! That all looks amazing! What a good skill to know how to live off the land!
Love your shopping videos… not into hunting animals. Maybe a separate group.
I was reluctant to watch because of the hunting. It was done beautifully. The boys were excellent shooters. Cleaning up the bears was tastefully done; knowing some people could be sickened by this process. You did not put us in that position. Thank you for sharing this part of your living life!
Well said
Congratulations on filling your freezer !! My Dad got a bear once. Mom put it in crock pot & cooked several hours & added bbq sauce. We made sandwiches on hamburger bun. Also snagged squid 🐙. Mother in law breaded & cooked quickly in skillet on vacation.
I thought Mark had his own channel. Maybe post on there instead but this channel is called This Alaska Life and this is certainly true
Enjoyed
This is not something we generally do where I am in Australia & I believe we have to have meat professionally dressed. It is a good skill to have being able to provide for your family.
I love that you take only what you need for your family.
Great job Hunter and Bennett. Scenery was awesome. Wonderful to see family working together. Miss Violet is really growing.
Happy father's day Mark. Loved to see you get to spend time with the boys.
The shrimping season in seattle near me this year was 4 hours 1 day. That's ok. Waiting for salmon to open
This was so interesting to watch! Thanks for taking us along! Looking forward to your future videos to see what recipes you make!
I think it is awesome to see what a hunting and fishing family do when they make a catch or a kill..❤
I wanna start this by saying I have no problems with people hunting as long as it's done responsibly (not a choice I would make for myself but to each their own)...but I didn't really want to see a dead bear on my subscription feed with no warning. Perhaps using that as the thumbnail for the video wasn't the best idea. Great clickbait thumbnail for some, but for me it's extremely off-putting from a channel I've really enjoyed in the past.
Editing my comment to say I checked back later in the day and I see the thumbnail has changed. Thank you Lauren for changing it if you see this comment.
I had my late husband bring venison home. Miss that
I really appreciate that you guys hunt for food, not for game. I do not agree with game hunting but for food it’s ok bc it’s not just a token trophy thing
Congratulations boys on your hunt. It's wonderful they are learning to hunt and feed themselves and future families. Great skills to have wonderful job Mark teaching them. Enjoy this video
Strap needed be over your shoulder carry the riffle....turn the plastic zipp loc over so you don't get to much meat in the zipp
Very proud of you boys. Good job. Feeding the family yeh😊
The best part. "And on a school night" l loved it. My bear chili was the best chili I've ever had. Everyone else thought so as well. It helps to have freash bear meat! Great video Mark. God bless you all and many prayers 🙏🏻 Nurse Judi ☦️ in Scottsdale AZ and Eucharistic Minister ☦️ 🙏🏻 💙 ❤️
I love all of your videos but I can't watch this one. I know this is your source for protein but I can't watch something be killed. I'll wstch all of your other videos though. Not crazy about the thumbnail of the dead bear either. Sorry.
Congratulations boys and Mark, the scenery was simple gorgeous, continue living your amazing life love This Alaska Life❤
Great job guys .. Congratulations boys on the Bears , Squid and Shrimp !! A great hunt ! The dinners looked amazing and love seeing the boys helping packing the meat ! Seeing Everett grow over the years helping is sweet ! Violet looks so cute ! Thank you for sharing Lauren! Blessings to you all!
If you are complaining about the fact that Mark and the boys went out hunting and you have already been subscribed to the channel you should be well aware that they hunt their own meat. On the majority of videos if not all they introduce themselves as a hunting family! Self sustaining in this Cost of living crisis is something we could all benefit from instead of paying massive corporations ridiculous amounts of money for meat pumped with water and medicines.
On another note, lovely to see Mark and the boys have a fantastic trip out! I am from the UK and it isn't typical that people hunt here other than the occasional bird so being able to watch the process is really interesting and educational. Thank you for sharing!
The irony is that all these pretty homesteaders here on You Tube living a self sustainable life all kill their own chickens, cows, pigs etc (they just don't show that bit) and people flock to those channels with praise. What's the difference? 🤔. Yes they always say they are a hunting and fishing family. They kill the fish also.
@@brilliantbutblue Couldn’t have said it better! Also many subscribers including myself are from different areas of the world where hunting isn’t massively spoken about or acted upon. I think a lot of people are also uneducated when it comes to hunting (myself included) but I do know that there are many restrictions, time of the year they can hunt, numbers and some animals are protected. They would not hunt animals that are endangered or at any risk and of course they will abide by the hunting regulations and rules within their community.
My comment was about bears being endangered. I knew it was a hunting family but not all animals need to be hunted to survive. I'm going to go and cuddle my Paddington bear.
@@annie8160 hunting the black bear is the same as them hunting a deer, moose, fish, which is also what they very often show in their videos on TH-cam. Bear may not be as widely eaten around the world but it doesn’t make it any different to watching them cut up their fish for dinner.
I am very sorry about these video it is not nice killing bear !to eat it !how hungry you are !it's really awful!!And teaching your children killing them!
And how I see it is very mean!!😢
You have many beautiful video and i really like watching !
Thanks Mark, Hunter and Bennett for sharing your hunting and fishing trip. I watched all your videos on your other channel last year and find it so interesting and amazing how you can sustain your family. Interesting to watch the butchering, cooking and eating of your catch. Great vid, I can't wait to see more this year!!
While it hurt my heart to see the bears die, I appreciate that they have been turned into food and it’s amazing to see your boys learning all those skills in the kitchen! Well done Lauren and Mark!
I love watching your videos but the poor bear 🐻 saddened me 😢 I do understand that your family hunt for food only.. Love you all ❤ Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 xx
Yum yum seafood dinner😊
