    Embarking on a four-day adventure fishing for giant Alaskan halibut and enjoying the fruits of your labor is a truly impressive display of dedication and enthusiasm for the sport. Your commitment to spending days on the water and savoring the fresh catch reflects both your passion for fishing and your appreciation for the rewards of hard work. This experience not only highlights your skills and patience but also celebrates the joy of connecting with nature and indulging in the satisfaction of a successful catch. Your adventure is both exhilarating and inspiring. And I am Floating Village Life.

    Hey to all; I would like to mention the Youg man that Filleted the Oversized Halibut! He was doing a FANTASTIC job of not only the filleting, but the Cheek Meat as well! 😮! Like he's been doing it for 20 yrs! 👏👍! Butt, ya kinda distracted him a bit with all of those questions, & you know you're not supposed to do that when someone is using a knife w/head down, if he looked up at you, he could cut himself. He answered very politely Many Times, Yes Sir! Good for him deciding to go to College, and decide for himself what he Wants to do! Yet he will always have this under his belt! My Best Wishes to him! The Fishing was Great, Congratulations on the 200+ Halibut, and I Salmon! My Last king's were 36 + 39 #'rs! 😊! 🥰🐟😋! Yum-Tum! Didn't waste a bit! When I watched you, I noticed the waste of the Ocean Life, and don't care for that! Do you know what to do when the Blatter is Bloated before you send it back into the Deep? All of the Fish know how to eat B,L,&Din.! They don't need help! Don't care for C&R,cz., of "The Code"! Please ask any Fisherman Friends from earlier days, they will tell you all about it! Like Everything in Mother Nature, there's a certain Balance which needs to Be Heeded bye Hunters, Gatherers, as well! I heard you say, "We dont Kill Everything", yet you did waste a certain %, amount! I'm glad you all caught whatever you caught, but please don't waste it! I see that Bragging Rights are important at your Lodge, but if you like that, & want to waste $, maybe you should try your Odds at the Cashino! There's no wildlife waste there, just Time, Energy, and Possibly the Big Payout! $$$,?, that is if you want a good Challenge, and Bragging Rights! 🙂😁🤔
    I'm sure you all abide by thie Guidelines! Good Luck Gambling! NZ., ✌❤🙂

    Halibut is my favourite fish, as a 15 year old we would pull a wade net along sandy beaches in PEMBROKESHIRE, Wales. Catching a Halibut would be the best outcome possible and by far the best eating. Unfortunately, no wet suits only multi layers of old cloths we would wear on the Farm. It’s surprising how warm you would get until a big wave rolled up to your shoulder.
    Great times with fresh fish to eat for supper and breakfast. 🐟🐋

    Those of us who live and fish in Alaska and have done so for a few years would have released the large halibut. For one reason, large halibut like the one in this video are female, not male. Males don't get that big. Females like that should be left to breed more halibut. Another reason is that the meat on halibut over sixty pounds or so is not as good as that on the smaller fish. The guides should know that and discourage keeping the big ones.

    • @vetrodgers11
      @vetrodgers11 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I agree. The didn’t keep that beautiful fish for food, although they likely did eat it …what I mean is they killed it for bragging rights…and how sad is it for a fish that lived that long so as to get that big , to be a female of breeding age, and in prime condition..to be slaughtered for the table of humans that can easily afford to buy whatever fish they want to eat. I love love love fishing. But for the love of god…let these huge ones go back to continue to breed other big ones. 😀they’ve earned it.

      In Newfoundland Canada where I'm from only fishermen can catch halibut. U cant buy tags or a license. It's so dumb. The only fish u can catch in the salt water is cod, squid, mackerel and herring. U can get a license to get scallops. We have no freedom here to do anything everywhere else u can get a license to get lobster crab and other types of fish. We have some of the cleanest waters in the world and lots of fish. But it's the commercial fishermen are the only ppl allowed to catch it.

    Don't know that I'd call any of those halibut a 'giant', first one I ever caught personally up there was 254 lbs. A few days later my brother brought up a 375 pounder that dwarfed mine, but the biggest Halibut I've ever seen was something over 827 lbs, which by the way was one scary damned fish. One look at the teeth on that one literally sent chills up my spine. I was later informed by an 'old timer' that they got even bigger, sometimes a LOT bigger than that. Well my response to the proposal to go after one like that?
    In the immortal words of Mr. Goldwyn:
    "Include me OUT!!!" lol.
    One other thing, unless I missed it, I didn't hear anything about anyone catching a "Tyee". My father, my brother, and even I caught them up there, but it was many years ago. For those that don't know, a Tyee is a monster of a king salmon, quite literally a "King of Kings" which I *think* is what the word Tyee actually means:) Ours were in the range of 70 to 105 lbs if I remember correctly. Sadly, I don't know that many of those even exist anymore, but back then if they hooked one up, the commercial guys would mostly just cut em loose before they could tear up too much of their equipment cause if they didn't , they'd bust up the gear with such violence that it sounded akin to a high powered rifle going off, serious (and exhausting ) gamefish. I'll tell you one thing though, after you've caught a Tyee, the thrill of catching lesser salmon becomes something like pulling in bluegill heheh.
