  • In this video, we discuss the question of whether or not madhhabs are necessary in Islam. While the majority of Muslims, for a great part of Islamic history have said they are, some voices have said they are not. While this conversation has its complexities, we give a simple yet thought-provoking analysis of the issue. Let us know what you think! #madhhabs #islam #muslimvalues

I am not necessarily anti-madhab, but what I have an issue with is when Muslims say that you have to follow a madhab when madhabs came AFTER the time of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. If they came after the time of
Prophet Muhammad PBUH, it's not waajib, though we are to learn from those with knowledge. But this can be from Scholars of any madhab, and you are not required to follow any madhab.

Being anti-madhab implies that men much better than myself somehow got Islam wrong. Don't lose the sweetness of the deen by getting hung up on madhabs, but don't discount the insights of the 4 imams either. Out religion is one of balance

Salam shaykh. Thank you for this. As a suggestion for future videos - an explanation of tassawuf and whether it’s important for Muslims to follow a path for purifying the heart e.g. joining a tariqa, would be very helpful.

As muslims, we should all agree that we take our religion from the qur'an and the sunnah.
The madhahib are attempts from great scholars to properly understand our religion based on the qur'an and the sunnah, and explain to us how to practice our religion.
The notion that an individual MUST select a SPECIFIC madhab, and then follow ALL of its fiqh, simply because they have selected it as "THEIR" madhab, is a baseless notion.
As laymen, we should always refer to our scholars. But to REJECT an interpretation of fiqh BLINDLY, MERELY because we've come to know that its an interpretation from a madhab that WE havent SPECIFICALLY subscribed to, is ignorance... and not the humble kind.
It is upon every muslim to seek some level of knowledge. And if we STUDY a SPECIFIC madhab, thats fine and some say even necessary.
But for a person to say, "i'm a "hanbali", therefore i will blindly REJECT every difference of opinion in fiqh offered by the other madhahib MERELY BECAUSE i am a "hanbali", and NOT due to investigation," is not befitting for a person who fears to practice their religion incorrectly.
A person who fears to practice their religion incorrectly will seek, to some degree, to understand the (valid) difference of opinion, and then choose an opinion that they feel more closely coincides with the revelation. This is the way to observe the madhahibs without treating them like they are sects within the religion.
Not to say that a person can't accept all fiqh from a specific madhab, just that they dont HAVE to.

I am your sister from Yemen, and by Allah I only spoke out of hunger and distress. My mother, my brothers, and I lessons and tears. We are in a situation that only God knows about. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs for those who brought us to this situation. By Allah Almighty, I did not write this appeal out of distress and distress. Poverty, O world, they have felt it So, I hope for you. By Allah Almighty, Lord of the Great Throne, he ate what I had in the house. By Allah, my brothers, he is my brothers by sitting in the house. Who has no food? By God, we are in a very difficult situation. We have 4 people entering the house, and my father has died, and there is no one who can depend on us and who lives in it.We live in a rented house because we cannot pay the rent we owe. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''' My brother, my first words are: I swear to God that I will not lie to you or deceive you. I am a Yemeni girl displaced from the war. My family and I live in a rented house in Al-Shahrab 20,000 Yemenis among us, and now we owe 60,000 for 3 months. The owner of the house is one of the people who does not have mercy, by God, my brother. He comes every day, insulting us, talking about us, and moving from the house to the street because we were unable to pay him the rent. The neighbors saw us crying and came back. They came back to talk to the neighbors and we were given the weekend. So we made him swear by God. He will take us out into the street. Have mercy on him and us. Our country is due to this war and we do not find food for our day, and my brothers and I live in a difficult life. Our father died, may God have mercy on him, and we have no one in this world who was with us in these harsh circumstances. My younger brothers went out into the street and saw...The neighbors eat and stand at their door in order to give them bread even if they break it. By God, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, they closed the door and expelled them and came back crying. They are dying of hunger. No one has mercy on them and a holiday is returned. I have made a living, and now if one of us helps us with a kilo of flour, I swear to God, I am dying of hunger. My brother, I am an alien to God. Then, I ask you to help me for the sake of God. I ask you, by God, to love goodness and to help me, even if you can, by messaging me on WhatsApp.On this number 00967716649494 and ask for the name of my card and send it and do not be late and may God reward you with all the best, my brothers Sagar, see how they are and help us and save us before they throw us out in the street, you will be lost or we will die of hunger. My family and I ask you, by God, if you are able to help us, do not be late and may God reward you well..`/--~«««~-~♡~♡~♡~~•~•~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡♡♡~~~: ~:~¡~¡~¡~;I.i.i.i.i.i. i.I.|-◖˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛''''''''''''''''''''''''˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛˹˛..;;،،::..;;،،::..;;،😢😢🎉😢

    Assalamu Alaikum ‏السلام عليكم
@rashadabdulrahmaan we should not distant the follower from being able to directly follow the Quran. Which means we should not complicate Islam to a degree that only Scholars can tell us how to practice ISLAM. The spirit of the Deen and the wisdom of the Deen go hand and hand. We should never discourage Muslims from reading the Quran and the Sunnah and stay away from bida .

My dear brother is very articulate however his knowledge is very very shallow
If you listen to this you can tell the brother knowledge is at a beginners level and if he had knowledge he wouldn’t have even delved into this topic in such a short time span
However the valley of the blind the man with one eye is King and you see that from so many affirmations in this video.
People don’t even know what they are agreeing with they don’t have no knowledge base to go back and verify and reference if anything the brother is saying is true
He’s not quoting any references for his talking he’s just talking but hey this is the era of freestyle Islam whatever makes you feel good then so be it
And he knows the audience wouldn’t request where and how he comes to his conclusions
It’s a talk of his opinions
This topic is entirely to intricate for this brief discussion

Asalamu alaykum brother, Imam WD did not emphasize the "sunnah" to the same extent as the quran. Not even close. There is a reason the flag he designed is centered around Al-Ketab, the one and only Supreme Book: The Quran.
I agree with studying them all and follow none of them. Study all of them and place them against the Supreme Book. The Supreme book is and will always be the ultimate judge of what is truth and to be followed.

Whenever a strong king came to power, Christianity itself changed beliefs and practises each time. Islam was affected far less. The 4 madhabs were the very reason why Islam remained Preserved through time. In history whenever a great Islamic empire came to power, they had to choose which one of the established madhabs to follow, as there were so many scholars and books written by each one. They integrated the them into the state. This is how Islam remained intact even though power was held by various non-Arabs of differing languages and customs across the globe.
