This game was one of the most awesome parts of my childhood. Used the name as my screen name since I first created an online profile about 18 years ago...and I still do!

Loved this game. Dizzy was a true character. I used to just roam around the world, making up my own stories in my head. Spectrum games were amazing for me, and you really had to use your imagination. It was so exciting to go hunting for a game, and see that glorious box art, and so much promise. Then when you got it back, it was of course nothing like it, but you were invested at that point, and had fun with it. One thing that always annoyed me was why he didn't have red boxing gloves? It was clearly possible in that bright, garish world.
Nice comment Phil! Could totally relate. The reason for the lack of the red gloves was most likely due to the colour clash issue, an 8x8 character square could only contain one background (or paper as they called it) colour and one ink colour. It would've most likely "bled" all over Dizzys body!
I remember this times. This cool game at cool Spectrum. True nostalgia and just wanna get back to those times... Thanks for sharing mate.

This Dizzy game is the first computer game that I remember really getting into. I believe it’s the reason I still love gaming to this day. I love the puzzle element of these type of games, it really got you thinking. I can still remember the day my Sister and I completed it. It had taken years to truly understand what did what within the game and so satisfying to finally finish it. This video took me back to those days and I have recently got my old +3 Spectrum working again and have been playing Dizzy once again.
Were good memories,what times,what times! Spending many nights hoping the electrical didn't go off or by chance, family members touch or move the cables, what memories...in romania we used a cloned spectrum named HC85(90/91) 48k but it was very good.the tape decks were a problem because in the beggining we didn't have good ones,situation changed when proper decks were become available. What times! dizzy series are the cherry on top of the cake.spectrum without Dizzy is nothing.thank you for sharing,you play flawlessly

I was never really close to finishing this game but I remember most of these items/backdrops. I was about 6yo when my older brother got a used spectrum for Christmas. I couldn't believe it. Home gaming!!
The trial and error of dizzy, the backtracking, the accidental holding down of the spacebar for too long from inpatience and dying and starting over, and over and again.
the rush you had, surpassing your last attempt and reaching a new screen on your last life only to be touched by a fast moving object, already right next to you, in like half a second of the backdrop appearing on the screen, investing all that time and from a lack of a save feature have to repeat it, consistently buggering it up 🤭 scratching my head, "WTF do I do with this? and where do I take it now?" classic times. Nice work on the Vid, clean playstyle.
Very fond memories of this machine and many games on it, some of the title screen and in game music was so mental! Very intricate composition in some games. Very exciting as a wee kid around 1989 somewhere. I remember loading games on analogue tape also. It took ages 🙃 thanks for showing off the skills and making me grin
There are a couple of alternative routes on this game to finish it ie: Items up in the ice palace going into the underground caves, you could have completed the game by choosing either as ingredients for the potion was acquired by only going to one of these areas. Brilliant for its day.
As a child I didnt notice the lack of music or the fact that this isnt a side scroller in the typical sense of the phrase.....its just one screen at a time. I loved this game.
Absolutely amazing! Days, weeks, months and maybe even years playing this game and other Dizzy games (Treasure Island comes to mind) through my childhood! These problem solving games made me the man I am today :D

One of my favourites! And definitely my favourite Dizzy game.
They dont know how easy they have it today, we were solving ridiculously complex chains of logic problems like this in 6 lives or less before breakfast and off to school XD

I don't care what anyone says, the Spectrum versions are the definitive versions of the Dizzy games.

I remember getting to the very end an stepping to close to the big wizard and loosing my last life.
for a game that can only do one color per block I am regardless really impressed by the artwork. the sprites are beautiful and remind me of the black and white games I used to play on my old Macintosh.

i dont recall completing it but every bit, even the ending brings back a memory so maybe i did, or maybe i watched this then got pissed and am now watching it again >.

best game. I can't believe it's completable so quick.
Had this on the C64, never completd it. Was playing earlier on an emulator, but fell in the bridge in that haunted place and couldn't get out. I might sit down one rainy day and just plug through it. For the games kids have now, they just come on here or other internet sites when they get stuck. I had to wait until thee walkthrough on Fantasy world dizzy in Commodore Format til I could complete it. I love the izzy games, actually got MP3s of the game music.
Demonmixer when me and my sister got stuck we even rung the dizzy helpline....48p a minute off the landline...parent well happy about that when the bill came through ha ha
Or you could ask your mum or dad to remortgage house to ring the helpline when stuck(09 number at abt £1.50a minute and the call would last about 4 hours 😂
£2.99 a fuckin bargain, my first 2 spectrum games was Fantasy world dizzy(3) and cobra(again£2.99 each) which resulted in the best days of my life. I'm gonna send us all back to 89 when I make my time machine, to re-live the speccy vs c64 vs amstrad days!! 😆fukin mint!!! 😆

i remember that in the screen with the empty bottle, stepping between the two clouds made them vanish and thus made it impossible to cross that screen, and stepping there halfway through the game was really nasty. finally got to see this finished, very nice!

the early art by Neil Adamson was also superior to human-like later dizzy. i loved to look at it while loading the game
