That line, “I will carry you here in my heart to remind me that come what may, I’ll know the way” gets me every time. I’m embroidering it to frame and hang next to pictures of my brother and sister, both of whom died well before their time (10 and 26). They were, and are, my strength.

I know the pain, not from siblings, but within these past ten years alone I've lost both parents, three grandparents, and a very close friend. And I remember them fondly whenever I'm happy or sad. Yes I may cry, but I know they would be there cheering me on or trying to comfort me.
It's horrible to lose family, especially so young, and grieving is never easy, but they are always with you, living forget in your heart, and know like my parents, grandparents, and friends that have passed...your siblings are with you everyday, loving and cheering you on. And I am to.

Do you know the bit they sing at the end after she sings “I am Moana”? The chant-like verse they sing at the end? What are the lyrics and what do they mean? I am absolutely in love with this music and although I don’t speak it I firmly believe the only way to honour a song like this is to learn it in its original language. I’ve already learned Logo Te Pate and We Know The Way by heart and would be so grateful if you would be able to enlighten me. PS: your language is beautiful! ♥️♥️

    Lyrics
I know a girl from an island
She stands apart from the crowd
She loves the sea and her people
She makes her whole family proud
Sometimes the world seems against you
The journey may leave a scar
But scars can heal and reveal just
    Where you are
The people you love will change you
The things you have learned will guide you
And nothing on Earth can silence
The quiet voice still inside you
And when that voice starts to whisper
    "Moana, you've come so far"
    Moana, listen
Do you know who you are?
    Who am I?
I'm a girl who loves my island
And the girl who loves the sea
    It calls me
I am the daughter of the village chief
    We are descended from voyagers
Who found their way across the world
    They call me
I've delivered us to where we are
    I have journeyed farther
I am everything I've learned and more
    Still, it calls me
And the call isn't out there at all, it's inside me
    It's like the tide
    Always falling and rising
I will carry you here in my heart, you'll remind me
    That come what may
    I know the way
    I am Moana

This movie hits me, too. It was one of my little sisters favorites. Every time the line “I will carry you here in my heart to remind me that come what may, I’ll know the way” played, I’d sing it to her. Despite my wretched voice, she’d just smile at me her through her ventilator mask. She’s been gone 2 years and it’s so hard to believe it.

this song touches me soooo much like this movie means sooo much to me not only because of the cultural aspect but because of the story too. i related soooo much to moana and still feel the struggle some times and i'm just reminded of moana's journey. and music is such a powerful form of art that invokes strong emotion, and i really enjoyed this version of the song. i'm not a pacific islander but i'm indigenous too and i really appreciate this and i love seeing this kind of representation. it means the world to me, and i hope we get to see more of it.

An absolutely beautifully written and "harmonized" song!!... This song means everything! It stands alone, as one of the most touching & meaningful friendship songs between people! Moana and her grandma! It's just so endearing, the way she always encourages her to follow her heart, to do what she's being called to do, by the inner voice calling inside of her!.. A good reminder to never give up on our dreams! Allowing ourselves to be ("encouraged"), to "Find Our True Strength" and "True Inner Voice" inside of us, "no matter" how "hard" it may seem, to always follow it right to the place we need to be⛵🌊🏄‍♂🏄‍♀🌺🧭🗺🌠⛵🌺...

There's so much energy from this song! I love native songs in any language, I listen to tons of Spanish songs and I dont speak Spanish. I feel songs that bounce native language with English really hot hard and are relatable to many.

In my opinion, the line 'I know the way' is better than the 'I am Moana' that follows after. It is declared with such clarity and determination.
The movie is about Moana at war with herself. She wants the answer to the beckoning of the sea, she wants to explore the vast world, but is held back by the chains of leadership and responsibility. In this song, she learns she doesn't have to pick and choose, she can lead her people but still travel the world. After years, she has finally gained control and is ready to shout to the heavens that she is strong.
