I got one 6 months ago and managed to squeeze a tour of Scotland in before lockdown. Fantastic for touring, loads of luggage space and keeps up with the sports bikes (especially as being higher up you have better vision thru’ the corners)The weight is a problem and it is tall. I’m 6.2” but i still have the seat on the lowest setting. Low speed manoeuvring is dodgy. I bought a turntable for my garage floor to spin it round. Cannot wait for end of lockdown and take it into Europe - back down the B500 and into Switzerland
OMG really. I am 5 feet and 9.5 inches. Would that be a big problem for me? I am still canvassing and explorer is at the top of my list.
Hi Backdraft Bikes. From the images on the riding bike it looks like its fitted with a sport screen. I own a 2014 TEX and am struggeling with buffeting. Tried al sorts of larger screen options with no real luck. Am thinking about switching to a sport screen. Dont mind wind on my helmet as long as its clean. But would like to keep the riding wind of my body for those high speed motorway rides. What are your experiences with the sport screen. Does it block any wind ? Looking forward to your reply. Yes, the sport screen worked pretty good. Got it from revzilla. I think the touring one might have worked better, but it looked too tall. Cheers!
I've been riding for 20 yrs. My current bike is an 08 zzr1400. I'm looking at a 2014 Explorer. Am i gonna feel this bike is underpowered. Weight is not gonna be an issue as the zzr is heavy as hell. Looking at this as an option because of the straight up riding position.
I have not rode one of your bikes, but those zzr's are super fast. This bike has power, but maybe not as much as the big kawasaki...

It sounds like a sewing machine and you can feel it in your knee if you push on it. There is a few videos of it. (Sorry for the late reply)

@@DanDanai1 to be honest I'm 6feet 190lbs. This bike is to big for just casual riding around a city for me. I have two harley sportster I prefer to ride. The triumph 1200 is very big and very heavy best for highway cruising. If it's your only bike and your not touring all the time check out the 800 maybe its better

I have owned this bike (2014 Model UK ) from late winter 2019 with 4000 miles on the clock, with full service history and in show room condition.
first thing first, if your feet can not, like mine sit flat footed as a solo rider with a suspension drop kit then forget this top heavy monster bike, and I am 5ft 9 inches.
This Bike Is A fkg Torque Monster from another dimension, regardless what gear you are in, POWER IS ALWAYS BOSS! it is truly insane and gives you 100% confidence when overtaking and some.
TOP HEAVY ? FKG I N S A N E .... Seriously Disturbing, but keeps you focused and diligent to your surroundings and topography.
The first off gears are clunkier and sometimes not responsive when coming to a stop, say from 5th gear to 2nd or 1st you will not get any gear engagement!
I WAS OFF WORK FOR 5 WEEKS LIFTING THIS BIKE FROM A DEAD LIFT APPROACH, fkg crippled me !!!
But this bike makes me feel alive, it is insanely powerful to the point I need no advice, and the high position does give you a very demanding position on the road.
I have had this bike now for a period of 5 months over a SCOTTISH late Winter and have done over 1200 miles, This Bike is hard work to lift off and park, but in between is a Pleasure.
It takes a Man to tame this bike, and when you learn to own it, there is nothing like it on the road!

Hi Scot, thanks for your opinion here. It's what I was looking for because I'm also 5'9". So you're saying that your feet do NOT sit flat on the floor with this bike? ...That alone could sway my decision completely as I'm looking at getting a bike right now :)

Jon Collins Having ridden those big heavy bikes, this bike really flicks around very easily. The front and does come up on these but not is easy as you would think because you’re writing position pushes down on the front wheel. Maybe find a dealer and take a test drive? You won’t be disappointed...
@@BackDraftBikes Man even coming from a Bonneville I lifted the front end on one of these... My brother's (Sorry bro!)... but you're right, once you're used to the riding position you can keep it down for maximum launch speed just by leaning on the bars. Jon Collins coming from a heavy cruiser this will feel like what you imagine a sports bike feels like.
"It's super-duper top heavy"...so I mounted this giant box on it as high as I possibly could...SMH.

Hmm. I would choose the Tiger, easy to work on, parts are fairly cheap, lots of custom parts available.
Man, I'm so confused. Title says 2014, a disclaimer in the video says it's a 2016. And then your comment says 2015 😅
But seeing this particular model features the old, short reach cruise control buttons, I'd assume it's a 2012/13 model.

I just brought one. 2015 with 4k on the clock. Everyone says its powerful, i dont understand i came from a cb1300 and this bike feels super slow and gutless. Wonder if something is wrong with mine.

fragile bikes , have a 1200 xcx 2019 , tons of problems and the rear wheel seems unstable Af , the wheels seems to bent so easy and the 270 kg of the bike dont help at all on the off road conditions , really a dissapointment for me , should look for the gs instead of buying it
