The desire for riding fast vs. slow (relatively speaking) is also a matter of age. I rode like a maniac in my 20s, not because I wanted to be faster than others, but because I loved the thrill it gave to me. Now in my 60s it just does feel good any more, it feels unwise and dangerous instead.

Had mine for 2.5years now, love it! Great do it all bike. Changed the screen and will cruise at 80-90mph for hours if required in comfort. Can bimble pulling cleanly from 35mph in 6th if you’re feeling lazy. My go to bike, had 7 bikes now reduced to 3, it’s my favorite all rounder.

Superb video. I currently own a Tiger Sport 1050 which I use for 2 up touring in Spain. I'm thinking of changing this for either a Tiger Sport 660 or a Tiger Sport 850. Not sure the 660 will be big enough for the wife's luggage requirements.

I've had a 900 gt. Realy good machine untill something is wrong. Dealer was awfull and i once road it on salty roads. Everything, and i mean everything, started to rust big time. In combination that it lost around 1/3 of it's value after one year, makes it a realy difficult buy. The tiger is gone btw, switched back to japanese steel.
Only lost 1/3 of it's value? Most new motorcycles in the Arizona market lose 1/2 of the OTD price paid. The dealers all charge $800+ for freight, $650 for assembly, $400 doc fees, plus tax, title, license means all new bike got OTD for $2200+ over MSRP. Either way, your point is well spoken.
I’ve got the Moto Guzzi V85TT, my dad has the tiger 850. Seems like we’re both after a comfortable mid weight ADV that can handle dirt and gravel roads. The bikes are well matched to ride together. I just love the way Guzzis make power, the engine, the shaft drive. My dad has always had a soft spot for Triumphs.
What tyre pressures have people used on gravel roads,I've got some improvement going down to 35R/30F but it needs to go lower but not sure about the bead.

Have a 2018 tiger 800 xrt and love the suspension, handling and superb engine. Only criticism is excessive engine heat. Was engine heat an issue with the 850?
Sold my T 850sport due to vibes in handlebars on motorway +120km/h was unbarable. worse than a 300ccm kymco scooter. have previous had the Tiger 800 and it was sweet, even on the motorways +120. now riding a BMW F750 GS and i'm happy now. (even got cruise control)

But there have been a lot of camshaft issues with the Lc8c engine (from the 790 KTM) it has. Many owner reports of camshaft wear in bikes with this engine i.e., KTM 790+890 Adventure/Husky 901 and not just in pre 2020 models that KTM admitted to. Reports in later models like 23/24. The camshaft wear being very bad way before it's first major service. Reports of engines dying too. The issue hasn't been fully solved by KTM by introducing wider finger followers for MY21 and an additional oil screen for MY20 as they claim. I seriously was considering the CFMoto 800MT because it seemed like a great package at a very competitive price, but knowing this issue hasn't been fully addressed yet completely put me off it. Just Google Lc8c camshaft issues and you'll get tons of articles and Reddit posts confirming all of the above.
i don't hear much positive on the 2 up riding. seat is great compared to the sport 660 but its lighter; as one more positive. my 750gs is too top heavy for oldsters. but rear suspension is not setup for 65kg on the back. NOw to add all the add on's that i put on my 2019 750gs that has tpms, engine temps; but is 222kg . I ride teh 500x around town at 200kg. quite ez manuevering but limited power.
like to see a comparison of this vs xsr900. similar specs, weight. but xsr has quick shifter, cruise control; but not such a great setup for 2 up riding. .. suspension control for an extra 70kg does not seem that impressive on the 850 ? comments/comparisons.
Transalp with the cheapest possible components, it will never ride as nicely on tarmac. But it's a Honda and it's a more off-road oriented. The V-Strom 800 Re/Tech - a much closer comparison to the Tiger 850, same class.
It's not lighter. Before Triumph specs was only with wet weight. When the Tiger 850 was introduced, it shows dry weight. If you convert it to wet weight, it will be about 220 kg (vs 206 kg for the Tiger 660).
OK, I have a Tiger 850 so I'm not debating anything in the content of the video. But is this an AI voice? So many errors in the dialogue that it make it hard to listen to, even as a fan of the bike. ESL is one thing, but something doesn't seem right here.

I own one. First gear is way too high, and when I have a passenger it struggles to take off from the line. I'm swapping the front sprocket from a 16 to a 15, but that raises the rpm on the highway. Because of the offset firing, it runs like a four missing on one cylinder. I would suggest anyone looking at one to look at other choices before buying. Its not a bad bike, its just not as good as it could be.
The off the line issue is due to the ecu fuel map being very lean and the Keihin fuel injectors read the maf sensors the lean side, too. This is an across models issue. The only way to overcome this is by 1) increasing off the line throttle response and richening the fuel map. This can be done easily with Tuneecu.
That's funny, or a bit odd. I own one too, and I think first gear is a bit too high for some off-road work, but otherwise fine. With luggage loaded for a trip, or with a passenger, there is no struggle. The highway RPM's are fine for sane riding, but some want to increase the gearing to lower hwy. engine speed. The firing order is in no way 'missing' a cylinder; it has more torque than a KTM 790/890 engine I( i know, having ridden both) and it is totally comfortable at highway speeds. I'd say, the others are not as good as they should be, esp in comparison to the 850\900 engine. One of the best overall M/C packages available.

I got a 23 triumph in December 2023 for $1500 under MSRP. Don't give a damn what anybody thinks it's worth, it was a good price and an awesome bike.

Moto Guzzi v85tt has only 75-80 hp, but they are supremely comfortable, handle great, cost less, and has cruise.

The 850 hits a real sweet spot.. Cruise and a slightly higher rear spring rate would make it ideal for touring 2 up.

Seems both Suzuki and Honda with the Strom 800/Transalp have realized there's a niche here in this price range

The XSR is a city bike, the Tiger 850 is a touring bike. You can compare the Tracer 9 and Tiger 850 (the Tracer 9 has a much stiffer suspension).

Tbh while it might be very good, having a £1000 bill every 12000 miles for valve clearances makes it effing expensive. Nope.

Hi! Different classes. Tracer is a pure sport tourer with a comfortable ergo, Tiger is a crossover. It feels different.
