I did spend quite a bit of time playing around with the island resident on the GBA, but I'm not sure I ever knew that two of the NES games were obtainable through it. I would have lost so much time replaying Wario's Woods on the GameCube.
I can say that I have played Animal Island. I have a GBA and a link cable so I would play several games that used it like Wind Waker, Four Swords, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and of course, Animal Crossing.

I think it makes sense that they would go through all this effort tbh! Given the original Animal crossing is an N64 port, they probably wanted to add as much value as they could for returning players, giving them a bit more of a real reason to re-buy. Obviously it was the first version of animal crossing released outside of japan so it doesn't apply for most of the world, but it still makes sense.
this solved a 20+ year mystery for me, i never had the e-reader but always imagined what the mini games would be like, i'm glad to see they're... not as exciting as my childhood imagination made them. as a kid i imagined graphics akin to the japanese exclusive minigames. i would have been sooooo disappointed by the e-reader games because the sports fair days were my favourite holidays and i just made believe my player character participated in them anyway 😂
Hey Hunter! I was wondering if you would do a video covering how the letters you write in animal crossing, can effect the villagers response throughout the animal crossing series? I always got back letters saying they don’t understand my letters. What words can they actually read?
It’s a bit interesting, and I’ll touch on it in the future. The short answer for now is that they can’t really read anything, and the game has a very basic check on what constitutes a “real” letter. If you just spam characters like “AAAAAA,” villagers will get mad. But, if I remember correctly, you can space it out like “A. A. A. A” they will accept it as a real letter and be thankful… pretty funny!

They may not have manually made unique fireworks for every character card - if i were programming that I'd make it automatically generate variations depending on the card
10:41 Classic Animal Crossing GameCube villager meanness!😈
Tysm for making a video about this i was never able to find any footage of the E-reader minigames
This channel is so high quality. Keep it up man
i'm in NEED of more videos from you, please keep posting!
Bro got sponsored by YT itself! Congrats!

Guess someone's gotta update the nooklings' first appearance!
I did spend quite a bit of time playing around with the island resident on the GBA, but I'm not sure I ever knew that two of the NES games were obtainable through it. I would have lost so much time replaying Wario's Woods on the GameCube.
I've never seen TH-cam sponsorships that's wild, congratulations on the bag you earned it
HONEY WAKE UP THE NEW HUNTER R UPLOAD DROPPED
I can say that I have played Animal Island. I have a GBA and a link cable so I would play several games that used it like Wind Waker, Four Swords, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and of course, Animal Crossing.
there are 20 personality types in ac gamecube?!? 😭 bring it BACK 👹
The way the GameCube and GBA worked with each other in so many games is cool. Wish more consoles did that more often.
Getting sponsored by youtube itself is crazy. Good for you!!!
I didn't know about the どうぶつの森 e+ (Doubutsu no Mori) exclusive games. That is such a nice little mechanic (also loved the mini games you could play in New Leaf on the DS). I adore the sprites they did for the GBA. Adorable!
Animal Crossing was originally released for the Nintendo 64. The GameCube port was the first game from the series to be released internationally.
Another great video man. Keep it up
Thanks! I always enjoy seeing your collection updates on Twitter. I believe I first heard about the Pioneer “not-for-resale” discs from your channel… sorry if that brings up some bad memories! 😭
@@Hunter-R. No way! You know about that...? 😅 Bad times, bro... bad times..
@@cakehoarder hi
youtube premium is actually great. TH-cam is basically the only thing i watch and you can get a 4 person family plan for like $20 a month. I listen to long form video essays at my job and it’s nice having no ads and being able to have them downloaded for viewing offline
I remember playing Animal Island as a kid! My brother would always play on the gamecube, and I was the one playing on the GBA all the time haha
interesting, I've never seen a sponsorship for to TH-cam premium before. (also I love your channel!!!)
I've actually never player a single Animal Crossing game, and yet I enjoy this channel anyway.
"I've actually never player a single Animal Crossing game" Oh, you should.
I remember seeing my brother play his gba and I would always beg to use it to connect it to my sisters GameCube since I had heard you could through a school rumor of sorts so it's fun seeing what I missed out on Great video!
animal crossing is my special interest and it makes me so happy seeing that somebody else cares this much about it..... your videos are much appreciated... never stop
The more I learn about what games were considered "RARE" during the gamecube era, the more I realize I had a WEIRD selection of games haha. I loved the eReader cards. :D
TH-camr "im a blisy" has been doing loads of neat work in the pokemon space with the e-reader, creating custom cards/events for the gen 3 games. I wonder if something similar could be pulled off for AC?
Oh man. Nostalgia for something that I had completely forgotten about. Shout-out to my parents for buying me all this stuff when I was in middle school. Wish I still had any of this stuff
I played the gamecube island on gba game so much! Just having animal crossing anything on my gba was so neat to younger me
I’ve spent years thinking I knew everything about Animal Crossing, this video has proven otherwise! Great content 🥰
“Congraturations! You are good Animal Crossing prayer!”
I'll have to double check to see how many cards I have again. I don't have a full set, but I'm sure I'm close. I didn't know about the Japan exclusives. They look cool and actually have player input. I always wanted some games like those to be included in the full game for multi player, so when friends visited your town, you could play games together, even if they were simple.
I wish they would bring minigames to the next animal crossing.
Wait that no name is me! In the next video
This video was a bit pre-recorded, so members at the end are only recognized up until the end of June 2024. I’ll include you and everyone else in the updated list for future videos! Sorry for the slight delay, but thank you for the support!
@@Hunter-R.No problem
@@Hunter-R. The mysterious (no name) finally appears!! Since it's been kind of a running joke, I think it would be fun if you made the (no name) change into Cliffordlonghead mid-credits read, maybe with a little sparkle and sound effect or something. Just an idea ^^
@@MetroAndroid The no name isn’t actually them, it’s a different person with a different channel and profile picture! I think there was some confusion on not being included in this video’s acknowledgements, so they might have thought the no name referred to them.
@@Hunter-R. Ooooh, dang, I thought they just finally decided to add info to their profile. We can still dream for them to reveal themselves one day 🙏

Wow! This is so cool!
Really surprised to see how much work they put into the GBA functionality. They knew they truly had something special on their hands.
Thank you for showing all of this, Hunter! :)
Aw hell yeah new Hunter R. video on my day off, this is the best
