phil im pretty sure vinyl wrap is supposed to be applied dry, not like ppf where you use the slip solution and then stick solution, that could be why you are having the issue with it adhering? just a thought, looks pretty good
I thought so too...but it would have been a nightmare trying to apply dry. It was really sticky. I put way to much soap in the solution 🤦🏻♂️ I realized.
You can apply vinyl wet or dry. Most carbon fiber can be installed dry but others need to be applied wet using Rapid Tac spray. You spray it all over the surface you wish to wrap and the adhesive on the vinyl. Squeegee the vinyl onto the surface and post heat the entire vinyl with a heat gun to help speed up the drying process. Rapid tac can dry in 90 seconds or faster if it's hot outside.
I know this is a year old. But I always dreamed of having my favorite bicycle carbon fiber and gold. I already have 1 rim all gold(just the inside) and a few tiny parts. My main problem has been trying to find that good carbon fiber that will go great with the gold. And this video helped me out a lot.
Love how you don't care about gluck glucking popular products and just use what works given the situation. And the products tend to be on the sensibly affordable side as they should be for profit margins in a bussiness
I put this on my truck on the bottom panels where there was some rust. Sanded it down and wiped clean but didn't spray water on it like you did. I didn't read instructions but it came out looking good. Did I do it wrong lol. That looks great man.
Haha I actually did something like this today. My new Mazda 3 have gloss black on transmission. I placed clear film on it. Was very different compared to detailing.
Tip, if you want to drop the money… get carbon fiber ppf…. It’ll protect it well…. Or get vvivid tek r carbon fiber …. When it gets scratched up just use a heat gun and it’ll look good as new
Hi. I still have it on my cart! Its a little rough around the edges but thats typical wear from using it all the time. But the top is still great with no rips or anything. It was totally worth it.
@@MirandaDetailing yea when I do decals at work I always do them wet but for auto vinyl wrap I always do dry. Just did the tank on my motorcycle in carbon fiber dry. I guess it really just depends on exactly what kind of vinyl your working with. I'll tell you though VIVVID vinyl is really good to work with. Very user friendly :)
Well I guess it all depends on what type of vinyl and what your applying it too. I couldn’t see how applying it dry on to this metal cart would have worked. It would have tons of bubbles and creases that I wouldn’t be able to work out unless I applied it wet. Have you ever tried to apply vinyl dry on a surface like this before? I’m just curious as to how guys do it.
Hi yeah probably but I wouldn’t clear coat over vinyl wrap. It would crack and peel quickly. But this is a matte vinyl. You can get the glossy version also if you want that look. Check it out amzn.to/4b0WFIn
@MirandaDetailing Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, I purchased the same roll as the one you did, but it's difficult to work with cause it rolls back up. You didn't heat it up or anything, before working it?
Hi. It was just a simple water and dawn soap mixture. Just don’t add to much dawn. Just a few drops to 32oz of water. I think I explained that in the video but maybe not. Thanks
Hi. This one that I used is a small piece. It’s not really meant for large sections on the paint. It’s best for small areas like side mirror covers and maybe spoilers.
Yeah hahahaha you are almost the same like buzz so i thought you're buzz and im happy that i see buzz or space ranger in real life ,i want to challenge you to costume like buzz lightyear "space ranger" what do you think it would be fun
yes true, but there would be no way I could have installed this without it. Have you tried installing vinyl like this on metal like i did without a solution? How does that work exactly?
@@MirandaDetailing - ive cleaned the area so its like a wet enough to slide your hand across with no squeaky sound, and i had multiple people help with it and i applied it
Oh ok. I figured that. So what did you clean it with? Clean painted metal creates friction without some sort of polymer on it. I’ve tried it. It couldn’t slide my hand with it causing friction which is the squeaking sound. Also how can one install it by themselves?
@@MirandaDetailing - ive installed vinyl ollie on a car with one person so i cant tell you that . But I cleaned it with some alcohol and some alcohol wipes and a tad bit water
If you’re talking about the in video TH-cam ads, then you need to do some research....I have no control over those. Those are from TH-cam joy me. I also don’t get paid to advertise any products. Companies send me products and I tell them I only will show and use the products that I like and that actually work for me. Be careful of accusations like that. You have no idea how we actually run our detailing business. Detailing is our main business. TH-cam is a side thing that we do. Also if there are products that I already use and love and the company of said product wants me to pay me to show it more often, that’s the only time I’ll charge THEM to show it more. It’s not a paid review or promotion, it’s my prerogative to charge them for my time. There is a huge difference. But if people don’t understand that, shame on them for accusing and for their ignorance. Our channel has been successful because of exactly what we are doing and will continue to do. For anyone to challenge that or accuse us of anything is treading on our right to choose what we do to benefit ourselves and others.
@@MirandaDetailing well stated Phil. So I'm trying to find a follow up on the carbon fiber vinyl lid wrap. I have a huge roll and for the same reason as you would like to do some services. Hi. Thanks. Actually I still have it this day on that cart. It hasn’t peeled off. The only thing that has happened is I have banged it up against things and a few edges have wrinkled up from that, but otherwise it’s in tact and holding up well. It was a great idea to protect it.
@@MirandaDetailing that's excellent! I probably have the same carbon fiber wrap that you used that I purchased off of eBay my motorcycle. I got a new fridge here in my shop and wanted to do the same thing protect it after I left this message for you I saw that something got set on top of it that ate a little piece of paint off the size of a coin so unfortunately it's not going to be protected in perfect underneath but it'll be protected and look good anyway I don't know if it'll ever matter to me what's underneath. @swegbich diffrent types of wrap. This one is a vinyl type, which is meant for dry application as it is more of a sticker than car wrap
Yep. This is a classic example of someone "teaching" something he has no idea how to do. Title should have been "How NOT to install..."

Cool! I thought about that! The vinyl wrap was such a pain to install I’m sure the PPF would be so annoying! But definitely a cool option.
What's the heat gun for? Is it stretchable for finer/more intricate surfaces?
It’s for softening and molding the Vinyl when needed.
looks soo much better
Can you share with us what's your experience after one year of applying this wrap/sticker?
Hi. I still have it on my cart! Its a little rough around the edges but thats typical wear from using it all the time. But the top is still great with no rips or anything. It was totally worth it.
I did my car roof on my own it’s hard work you guys make it look easy but it’s not. Still I did mine dry with heat. I’ll show some pictures
Cool! Yeah I have never applied it to paint. I was just having fun on this work cart. But it’s still on there to this day!
Man that looks great! I just ordered this stuff for my car
What are you spraying on it? Water with windex? Never mind read comments below a bit of dawn with water. Thanks
OMG your eyes are so big and detailed... Every speck of detail is shown...Nice eyes
🤣 thanks? 🤣
@@MirandaDetailing yeah I was confused while typing that out as well 😂
Wow. I've never seen anybody apply vinyl wet but I suppose it works.
Really? I have friends who install vinyl lettering and wraps and that’s how they install it. Same goes with PPF. It would have never applied dry.

what would you recommend to make the wrap a glossy or shiny and not look like it’s matte carbon

i wonder how good this things will be on laptops just want to cover some areas that have scratches

Don’t splash your laptop with any liquid, though, especially when is plugged.

How did you get it to stay flat without rolling back up?
It just rolled out like that i guess.

F1 Schu True, but there is no way it would have applied without a slip. I tried it before and it was a mess.
Did your wrap ever stick as it has air channels. I want to do my bonnet wet but just been told it want sick due to air channels. Is this right.
Yea it did stick perfectly. I still have on the cart to this day. It can be done wet or dry.
Bruh......what is up with your eyes???

Is it advisable to used that vinyl in top hood of the car?thank you!

Looks great!
Did a good job
The size in the description it’s (cm or in)?
Hi the size is in inches,
to the infinity and beyoond!!
What is the spray thing you used?
Hi. Just water with a few drops of dawn soap.
Why did you wet the underside of the wrap. I’ve never seen anyone do that
Just to make sure everything had slip on it so it was easier to apply.
I’m not sure sir but your eyes look anime. That’s a cool one
Can I use a blowdryer / hairdryer instead of heat gun?
Sure, you can do that. 😎👍🏼
Bruh, ur eyes reminds me of Sponge Bob 😂😂
I like it bro 😁👍🏼👍🏼
Hi, could it be possible to put this kinda tape onto a car hood?
Yeah you could if it was large enough to cover it completely. But this was just for small portions and not large panels.
@@MirandaDetailing I found a large sized one for a great price, should work.Thanks.
does it work with wood?
Good question. Not sure.
Do you know if I could use this for my stripper pole? does it stick to one side or will it peel back off once I’m done using it?
🤣 I have no idea. Sorry.
What's this yellow blowing machine. Can I use a hair dryer instead?
It’s just a heat gun. You could use a blow dryer but the heat gun is hotter.
I want to cover ,small parts in my car. Follow same process, I clean whit alcohol first step.????
Hi. Sorry I’m not sure,,,,I have never applied this to paint before.
How do you clean this type of wrap?
If it’s on your vehicle just use your usual shampoo and even spray waxes.
How's going on buzz lightyear ?,and where is woody are you with him right now ?

For it to be able to adhere without bubbles on this metal it has to be wet. If applied dry it would have been a nightmare to smooth out.
