Question I seen a review of a person saying he didn't pass his road test do to him not changing the gear fast enough. Do you test out only in manual? I'm asking cause most companies was in automatic by the time when I finished
for me when i started here a year ago, the road test was done in whatever transmission you told nick the recruiter you’d like. however, now days we don’t have a ton of trucks open and available for everyone to pick through seeing how we have a LOT of people coming in! i see on the website they’re stating it’s manual only but that can be subject to change depending obviously on what’s available. we have a bunch of trucks in order so honestly worst case scenario, you’d just simply be put on a waiting list for an automatic if that’s what you prefer! to here’s what id say to do in your situation: call or write nick an email expressing your interest in the company and ask about that situation in particular. he’d be able to give you the best answer when it comes to something that specific. i don’t wanna tell you one thing or another & that not be accurate. it’s a great question seeing how it’s kinda up in the air because i don’t know off hand what is and what isn’t available. however i do know he’d give you the best answer possible. sooner or later you’ll be working here if that’s what you wanna do, basically it’ll just be a matter of when! hope this helps 😎👍🏼
What kind of drug test do they do. I'm going to be Hoi smoked pot for over 20 years got clean got my cdl I just don't won't to take a chance on a hair follicle till I hit my 1 year clean
yeah most of it is no touch traditional freight. we have accounts like ashley furniture for example that is touch freight but you get extra accessorial pay on top of your CPM
@@freshwhiteteee Do you do the Ashley account? I don’t really want to do much lifting. Hence why I got into trucking 😂. Just want to find a good place to work and make enough to feed my family. Thanks for the quick reply btw.
not a problem! some of the ashley is drop and hook but there are some customers we go to that is what they call driver assist unload. for example, one ashley distribution center is in eastern pennsylvania about an hour from me, so i run out of there frequently. some of the receivers are driver assist unloads but you could always just ask the DM not to get ya on driver assist freight. it’s no biggie either way. but again we don’t do much driver unload regardless
@@freshwhiteteee doesn’t sound too bad. I’m gonna call them tomorrow and see if I can get in. I’ll probably be needing a trainer because I haven’t a rig in the last year. Been driving class b local.

well experience is absolutely on your side here. how recent was this positive test? i don’t know if there’s a timeline for something like that has to exceed a certain amount of time like a dui for example. you could always give mister nick a call and see if you would be eligible! we give a lot of folks opportunities that a lot of other companies would not. i’m a living example! they may want you to apply to get a better look at all of your information and experience. worst comes to worse, you get a no but your no worse off than you are right now. i would absolutely either inquire/ and or apply. you may be pleasantly surprised.
@@freshwhiteteee thanks I appreciate that. I am going to go to a dot sap counselor my test was recent about 1 month ago . I have no problem with them looking at my background or driving record. I know I have to go through sap return to duty program though but I will give them a shout thanks again wish you well.
okay sounds good! get to it & back out here! sweet does consider SAP applicants as well as mentioned too. let me know how it goes & when you can get over here 😎👍🏼
ummm when i get load info, it’ll tell me the pickup, adress and all necessary information & same with the receiver and at the bottom it’ll say the mileage that it pays. honestly from what that mileage states versus the actual routes i take is usually pretty close. it’s never off by a lot. HOWEVER for example if you’re in the state of pennsylvania, we are not allowed to run the PA turnpike. it’s astronomically expensive toll wise, BUT sweet says that they pay those extra miles you have to take to get around or take an alternate route. they keep track of truck mileage with pre/ post trips on the tablet & also at the fuel pumps. you have to enter that when fueling. im not sure exactly how it works, but more so just connecting the dots. a good question for Nick!!
I have to try with them. No one else will even give me the time of day. I stepped away a few years to help my mom out after she had a stroke. Then Covid hit. Still have a valid CDL-a and my medical. I just need someone willing to give a chance and get me going in a refresher. I just want to go back to work.
i totally understand that. i had a similar-ish story being away from trucking but still having a CDL. they gave me an opportunity two years ago and i haven’t looked back. right now it’s difficult to get in anywhere though because of the economic situation with freight rates being low and diesel still being high. trucking companies have slowed hiring because everyone’s having a hard time. id still absolutely recommend you give recruiting a call and see what they say and/or apply for sure. even if it’s not right away, atleast you’ll be ready
I’m currently in school in Chattanooga state tcat I have speeding tickets but it happen in 2021 but I’m clean I’m looking for a company go to when I’m done with trucking school
they don’t really micromanage you if you just do the job. if your missing appointment times then they’ll start to chase you around making sure to make pickups and deliveries. some trucks have the radar equipment installed, some don’t. this new freightliner i have has the new radar stuff installed so it beeps at yoy if you get too close to another car, etc. otherwise, they just have a front facing camera towards the road, NOT facing the driver
Hey man I’m going on almost 4 years clean from my DWI do you know any schools that will pay for me to get my cdl, I know it’s better to get it on my own but definitely don’t have $6k to drop rn. Great video
if you don’t want to pay out of pocket, i would absolutely recommend finding a trucking company that trains to get your CDL, in exchange for working for them for like a year or so. they pay you the entire time, put you up in a hotel usually, and you have job security atleast for the first year or however long. personally, i started my trucking career in 2018 and i went though a school like that. i did flatbed at first, and got my CDL through TMC transportation outta des moines, iowa. if you’re thinking not flatbed, maybe van or reefer, i’ve heard anything bad about roehl outta wisconsin and if your thinking reefer, another decent option might be hirschbach. these are mega carriers abs have common mega carrier issues, but overall great places to get your cdl and get back into the seat and get that experience up!
@@freshwhiteteee does Tmc hire people with backgrounds I don’t have any dui or anything mines was from 2013&2014 a misdemeanor and f5 forgery your girl trying get my cdl without having to pay so I’m just wondering what would be my best options with a background and getting the license The school I was going to go too suggest since I do have a background I would prob have to do local construction or something like that to get my experience up before I can get hired on anywhere otr 🙄
i would imagine in that situation, case by case scenario. maybe call up recruiting and just see if it may be something sweet would be able to work with. i would absolutely try but cannot guarantee anything for sure
I’m in the process of getting my cdl license, I have a criminal record. I’m actually still on parole until the end of November 2022. Am I gonna have a problem getting a job? Between my rap sheet and being a brand new cdl driver I’m a little worried I’ll have a tough time getting employed. Any info would be appreciated. Thanx
traditionally, it’s a little difficult getting started in this industry. most times, you have to get in with a “starter company” & get your foot in the door to get started. what comes with a starter company is, not fantastic but not terrible pay, but it’s just because you’re new. you can come right over to sweet at 3 months experience according to their website so always bear that in mind. now criminally, you may be more limited to companies that will take you. it’s not the end of the world, but you may have to call a bunch of recruiters and inquire just like you told me. it’ll be a pain in the ass & and you may get a lot of no’s before you get a yes, but it could absolutely happen! companies need drivers, bad. you may want to check into places like maybe pam transport or perhaps even trans am. however, with that being said, AVOID WESTERN EXPRESS. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. but anyway, those other two companies are not great.. but it’s your way into the industry. there are also others out there im sure im not considering out there at the moment. you won’t be married to this or that company permanently so always bear that in mind. right now, id do some more research, maybe send some emails to recruiters or something and go from that point. you’ll get your start out here. getting going is the toughest but half the battle is already done if your in process to get your CDL! let me know how you make out. im sure sweet would love to have you with us over here!!!
I got a dui in my personal vehicle January 2022, I was told after the 1 year suspension I would have to go back to a trucking school and do everything over again? True or false? Or does cal just get reinstated
i didn’t have to go back to a school or anything a couple of years ago personally, but that may vary on which state you’re from if they changed any laws or something.
Think TransAm will take you too.I have am awful record 3x from the 90s and 2 felony drug cases.Got clipped over a minor accident, good place to redeem yourself.
First off I feel for you guys that got a record but you gotta ask yourself if most of the industry will not touch me why will these guys? They ain't doing it out of love.. you gotta know there some screwing coming and you ain't the one doing it.
naturally that’d be anyones reaction from the outside looking in, but i’ve never been screwed around with by the company and none of my referrals either as far as i know. the miles and pay have always been consistent. no funny business. as we know in trucking, it’s ultimately the insurance companies basically making the decisions. people with records flatly are just more of a risk, and traditionally with companies, they’ll just pay you less to compensate for the more it costs to cover you. sweet still pays competitively as most of our guys make north of .60cpm and if you look at the nationwide average, we’re right there. i’m just here to give others another option that feel like they have none. why deal with bullshit if you don’t have to.
@@killak1322 thank you! i appreciate that. but that’s what it’s all about. trying to help out other people that were in the same position i was not too long ago. i know what that’s like feeling like you don’t have any decent options and looking to get back to it. tryna put everyone on game !

I only have three months experience O t r drive in fifty three Foot Trailer Automatic I don't think they're looking for somebody like me. My living situation cost me grief.
Nothing but grief. And the grief I didn't Have before this mess. No D u I. Not a S a p driver. No violation on my clearing house. No damage to the company equipment or property.
Which is the way I like it. And looking to scale with a company.
Plan to get my tanker endorsement and doubles and triples. I am at my wits end with this. I didn't even do anything wrong. That's the funny thing except go home that's all I did. It did not realize that kind of hell I was gonna be put through because of it.

I think this is the company I wanna work for when I get my permit n 2 weeks. Will they hire new driver, no experience?
@@freshwhiteteee hey 👋🏾. Do they do hair follicle test or urine ? I’m clean jus curious
i think they’ll tell you 3 months experience because we just don’t have enough driver trainers to keep up with all the people coming in! & i believe they only do urinalysis testing! you should absolutely come over to sweet. i work here, been here a year and plan on being here a while. it’s a good company. 😎🤙🏼
What's up brother thanks for the info I put your name as a referral
I’m at step 5 no experience recently graduated
This video was so helpful & will keep it in mind. Plus you’re good to look at as well so that’s a plus too 😂❤

What about someone who has a CDL-A with no restrictions but no experience or work experience would be first job
we used to have a driver trainer program where someone like you would come over and then get with a trainer for 6 weeks but im not sure if they still have that or not. i would absolutely call recruiting for sweet and inquire!
Hey do you think I can get a job there if I had a recent accident in a semi ? Accident was in may of this year and my drug test came clean and I wasn’t distracted on my phone however it was still ruled my fault which I understand it could’ve been prevented
i would call and ask for sure. seems like a specific thing worth inquiring about. if not, maybe try places like PTL, transam, western express, etc
Bro I recently (this pass May) got a reckless driving ticket and fleeing, but I’m in the prospect of getting those charges dismissed, but I have no felonies or car accidents…Do you think Sweet Express will hire me when I get my CDL?
ummm im not sure 100% TBH. that would be worth calling ask just asking about. you’d need 3 month experience tho i think to drive with us. find out for sure
Thanks for the info
First …been there 3weeks it’s one of the best companies I’ve been in
that’s what i like to hear!! good shit man. keep it up. sweet will take care of you as long as you work with them. honestly i got with them to get my foot back in the door of this industry, but i been with them just about a year now and i plan on staying. i never get the feeling of looking over the fence to the next bigger and better company, this is a perfect balance of everything i need right here. pay, hometime, and good equipment.
Yea same here just the truck actually broke down after we got done talking last week and I’m in process of recovering another one other than that it’s all good bro thanks for the videos and all much appreciated
@@jayjayjay5905 DAMN NO WAY!! what happened?? was it the coolant thing? they wanted me to do a recovery a couple times but the logistics didn’t work out so it never happened. my trucks been SOLID. i put like 70k on it so far no issues. another guy from sweet who signed on with me been on the road like 2 months and out over 20k on his. making killer money
Yeah coolant was getting in the oil and not only that but oil some how got into the turbo which pretty much was the final blow to the truck🥲…luckily I didn’t get stranded on the getting out of Oregon cuz it was one lane due to construction or else I would of hold traffic till a tow truck got there

I'm going to be Hoi smoked pot for over 20 years got clean got my cdl I just don't won't to take a chance on a hair follicle till I hit my 1 year clean
when i came over about two years ago, they did a urinalysis test!
I like your videos bro. I’m looking into it now. My only question is this no touch freight? I need to get on with a company.
yeah most of it is no touch traditional freight. we have accounts like ashley furniture for example that is touch freight but you get extra accessorial pay on top of your CPM
I live in Cali and I’m going through the same issue I can’t find any company that will take me
I got a suspension 2 years ago but was never convicted of dui . Did you have to wait 3 years for a suspension?
Question,im in the Seattle / Tacoma area . Any hope with that ? Currently rtd step 5 which is find an employer. U had mentioned after completion of sap thats one year.
is RTD similar to SAP? i’m unfamiliar with that process
@@freshwhiteteee return to duty is step 5 ... 1st ia select an sap....2nd..initial assessent ....3rd complete what sap counseler made u do . Mine was an 8 hr course onliine . 4th is uve completed it. 5th.. is return to duty . 6th is uve completed the 1 yr of random drug testing with the employer...... From the date of violation. It stays for 5 yrs . Alot of companys want it completed thats one year. Only a few will tk u at step 4 return to duty where u have to find an employer. I went otr for a yr an a half an there was never a violation right out of school. In clearinghouse. I switched my drivers license from calif to wa st to go local an up pops a violalation from 4 yrs ago. It was a class c drivers license for a non cdl posistion. They have it in clearinghouse as a Cdl/clp. It was a Class c dl. So it shouldnt even b in clearinghouse. Meanwhile im getting fucked
How about if I tested positive for a little thc on a pre employment test . Have two years driving cdl 17 in a tow truck class c. Never had an accident. No tickets. I’m a real good driver no joke . I just smoked a little once now I fucked up my hole life lol feel like and families.
well experience is absolutely on your side here. how recent was this positive test? i don’t know if there’s a timeline for something like that has to exceed a certain amount of time like a dui for example. you could always give mister nick a call and see if you would be eligible! we give a lot of folks opportunities that a lot of other companies would not. i’m a living example! they may want you to apply to get a better look at all of your information and experience. worst comes to worse, you get a no but your no worse off than you are right now. i would absolutely either inquire/ and or apply. you may be pleasantly surprised.
@@freshwhiteteee thanks I appreciate that. I am going to go to a dot sap counselor my test was recent about 1 month ago . I have no problem with them looking at my background or driving record. I know I have to go through sap return to duty program though but I will give them a shout thanks again wish you well.
okay sounds good! get to it & back out here! sweet does consider SAP applicants as well as mentioned too. let me know how it goes & when you can get over here 😎👍🏼
What about if someone "went off the grid" for 15yrs. Think they'll give "that person" a shot ?🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for info
Love the videos my guy, so much info‼️💯Question...do they pay address to address or zip code to zip code?
ummm when i get load info, it’ll tell me the pickup, adress and all necessary information & same with the receiver and at the bottom it’ll say the mileage that it pays. honestly from what that mileage states versus the actual routes i take is usually pretty close. it’s never off by a lot.
@@freshwhiteteee thanks. You are very informative and helpful!! Again thanks.
@@specialk.6156 of course!! no problem. trying to get more folks over here to sweet man. it’s the real deal and a good solid trucking company.
How is the micromanaging, radar, cameras etc?
they don’t really micromanage you if you just do the job. if your missing appointment times then they’ll start to chase you around making sure to make pickups and deliveries. some trucks have the radar equipment installed, some don’t. this new freightliner i have has the new radar stuff installed so it beeps at yoy if you get too close to another car, etc. otherwise, they just have a front facing camera towards the road, NOT facing the driver
I have 13 years with one company... what is their driver retention like?
I'm wondering are you parked in a dock at 90 degree angle?
@@freshwhiteteee does Tmc hire people with backgrounds I don’t have any dui or anything mines was from 2013&2014 a misdemeanor and f5 forgery your girl trying get my cdl without having to pay so I’m just wondering what would be my best options with a background and getting the license
The school I was going to go too suggest since I do have a background I would prob have to do local construction or something like that to get my experience up before I can get hired on anywhere otr 🙄
I got a reckless driving will they take me in? Also I heard you have to have a down payment is that true?
I’m from California got popped on a random in July I’m on the 4th step of the program. Do you know if they come over here to Cali?
yes they do. i have a referral that lives in california that runs OTR !
What about major accidents and major moving violations?
i would imagine in that situation, case by case scenario. maybe call up recruiting and just see if it may be something sweet would be able to work with. i would absolutely try but cannot guarantee anything for sure
Can you pick transmission preference?
yes they ask you. depends on what trucks we have open at the moment
Is Nick still recruiting there. I’m thinking about calling him up
I’m in the process of getting my cdl license, I have a criminal record.

Hello! I just applied and used your referral code! Do they have have a training program?
Would they hire with DWI in cmv 5 years ago?
I got a dui in my personal vehicle January 2022, I was told after the 1 year suspension I would have to go back to a trucking school and do everything over again? True or false? Or does cal just get reinstated
i didn’t have to go back to a school or anything a couple of years ago personally, but that may vary on which state you’re from if they changed any laws or something.
You don’t have to go back to school. It gets reinstated after probation and all fines paid.
Think TransAm will take you too.I have am awful record 3x from the 90s and 2 felony drug cases.Got clipped over a minor accident, good place to redeem yourself.

7 years max on a DUI...per Nick... we're screwd

Are the trucks governed? If so to what speed?
68 on the cruise control and 70 on the pedal!
