    I've been driving a truck from a young age. Long time, was running around my uncles ranch in California at the age of 15 in a peterbuilt cabover, 82, because it's what I wanted to do. I love this industry. There was a little growing up I had to do when I was younger with my attitude, and I've made corrections along the way. I avoid drama these days. It's not a one sided relationship with me. I try putting my self in the owner and management shoe's and try to understand were there coming from and not be hard to deal with. I'm not a sociopath person that can't understand anything buy my on selfishly put together needs.
    I'm glad u guys have this channel here. Putting your self out there and talking about the industry in a way I know u understand it, and I feel safe coming here, I do orientation tomorrow and I plan on staying with you for a long time, me and my 🐕dog.

      We appreciate your comment. These strict guidelines are put in place to keep both drivers and the motoring public safe. As far as needing a current medical card, the DOT sets that regulation. You can’t drive if your medical card is expired, as you could put yourself and the motoring public at risk if you have an underlying medical issue.

    I have one violation on my clearinghouse for a failed random test for cannabis. All I wanna do is fix my CDL and drive for Pepsi as a vendor, I like vending, should I be able to do this?

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing. To get back on track, you'll need to complete the Return-to-Duty process outlined by the FMCSA Clearinghouse. This involves being evaluated by a Substance Abuse Professional, completing their recommended program, and passing a Return-to-Duty drug test. Once that's done, you'll need to complete follow-up testing as required.
      If you're committed to fixing your CDL and following the steps, you can absolutely get back behind the wheel and pursue opportunities like vending for Pepsi. It might take time, but it’s doable-and worth it to get your career back on track!

    Only have 5 months of experience. I have a jackknife crash due to snow season 2023, but no other vehicles involve. No government property is damage except my truck. Was doing 55 mph on a 85 mph speed limit freeway. State trooper gave me citation "driving too fast under road condition". When I check my DMV record, I got 1 point for speeding violation, but doesn't indicate any accident informatiion, I check my clearinghouse it's no record and DAC couldn't find information about me or my accident. Will I still be able to get a job in trucking?

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  หลายเดือนก่อน

      85mph speed zone, where the heck Is that?? Also, Clearing house is for drug tests not accidents. That being said, a jack knife accident is a serious one in a CMV. A lot companies do require that one to be 2 years old but you will be able to find a company that can take you on. When you are doing your calling around. Just be upfront with the companies right away and ask if they can work with it. They will want to know if the vehicle was towed away. That will be the difference between a DOT or non-DOT accident.

    How can I explain a speeding ticket that was withheld adjudication during the hiring process?

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That will depend on the company. If a ticket is still showing up on the MVR or PSP, most companies do have to look at that as it will count against your CSA score. If it is under 15 mph, most can take a look at it. If it is over 15 mph, that does have a very high CSA point total.

    I dont have ww2s or 1099s for the past 3 years I have a perfect driving record and background just got my cdl. Will this prevent me from being hired by a major carrier?

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Congratulations on getting your CDL! While a perfect driving record and clean background are big positives, not having W-2s or 1099s for the past three years could be an issue for some major carriers. Many require a verifiable work history for insurance and compliance reasons, but there are ways around this. You might be able to provide other documentation, such as letters of reference, proof of self-employment, or even a notarized statement explaining your situation. It’s worth reaching out to recruiters directly to see what they can work with. Best of luck on your trucking journey!

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Accidents will always show up on the MVR, whether the driver is at fault or not. It would be best to save the court paperwork, so you can send that to carriers you're applying to as a way to prove your innocence. That said, it's still up to the specific carrier on whether or not they'll accept that, but many definitely will.

    I do have OTR and local driving experience however it is over 15 years ago so does none of this experience count due to the amount of time that has passed?

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the question! While your OTR and local driving experience is valuable, most companies typically look for recent driving experience, usually within the last 3-5 years. That said, some companies might offer refresher courses or work with you to get back up to speed if you’ve been out of the driver’s seat for a while. It’s always worth reaching out to recruiters directly to discuss your specific situation.

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all depends on the carrier. Here at ATS, you can have no more than 3 suspended licenses in the past 3 years. Each carrier has different standards though. In your specific case, since your licenses are currently unsuspended and you've resolved the issue by paying the ticket, it may not have a significant impact on your eligibility. However, it's best to check with your specific carrier to understand their policies and how they consider previous suspensions.

    When a company is ignorant enough to text message you to run unsafe equipment be sure to immediately turn them in to the fmcsa. If they ruin your career by making you look like an unstable job hopper be sure they go down with you.

    • @OverTheRoadATS
      @OverTheRoadATS  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing this! You’re right - if a company is pressuring drivers to operate unsafe equipment, reporting it to the FMCSA is the right move. Safety always comes first, and no one should feel forced into an unsafe situation. And yes, it's unfortunate when drivers get labeled as "job hoppers" due to standing up for safety, but your advice emphasizes a good approach. Holding companies accountable helps protect everyone on the road.
