I'm always way more impressed how these little fire houses are able to do a variety of jobs and how they have to collect the right tools for the job. The ATV and F550 did remind of another recent station tour where the trailer also doubled as a command center. They also had an ATV that was outfitted as a brush truck/rescue and also their F550 had pretty much the same buildup. It is funny how these stations end up using the same solutions.. I also like that they are thinking ahead about difficulties in the future due to 'high rise' buildings. Makes me wonder at what point fire companies are involved in these building projects. One would think that not having a ladder/tower truck nearby would limit the maximum height of buildings out of safety concerns. As Shane stated, what's going to happen if there is indeed a large fire in a high rise and someone is hanging out of the window?
It's great that there are people who are so honorable to volunteer to serve their communities, but it is also a disgrace that they aren't compensated for their brave and honorable work.
You should do a tour of the Mankato Public Safety Center in Mankato, Minnesota. It is a mix of a police department and a fire department. It's really interesting

They are for an added level of safety. Most of the pumps run off the engine power so if it ever slips out of pump gear back to drive the stop chocks help
I used to live in Vandegrift over in Allegheny County I would love to see a video of the stations they have out there last I heard they got a new rescue truck and our still running a ladder truck that's from 85 early 90s

Okay so this might be a stupid question here how does that work that you have a fire department with no tax base. Obviously living in Florida every fire department here has tax money even the volunteer fire departments.
@@Hal-Robinson my fire and ambulance department asks for donations. They have fund raisers (easter, mother's day flowers sale). They have to apply for federal,state and county grants for items. Volunteer system is supposed to keep taxes down.

Americans are so funny "we are not a truck company we are an engine company " 😂. If I need a ladder I need a ladder, if I need en engine I need an engine...why all the "pride" in what you want to be? In Europe we have the apparatus stationed where they are really needed not where the different firehouses want them, sounds like a pretty dangerous system if everyone just buys what they want to have.
