Station 39 has a lot of history that it was built on and continues to innovate to bring the best fire service to the community that it covers! West Bradford also has fire police that are an integral part in the compay providing traffic control and protection of the first responders on scene. For our volunteer stations in New Zealand we still use the sirens to back up the pagers. Its still a good way to say we need a driver or second appliance is needed - which the pagers don't tell you.
Some volunteer stations still use house sirens and pagers and cell phones. 😉

The fire departments up where I'm at (Newark, Palmyra NY), still actually use the fire horns. Mainly to alert the public that they're about to come with their Q's blaring! Of course they're still used to alert the volunteers that there's an active call too.

@@HeroesNextDoor For the Newark NY fire horn, they're also wired up to the main intersections. So when a call comes in, the lights will switch to red to allow Fire, Police, and EMS to quickly clear the intersections! It's a really cool system :D
Up northern pa i run in st Mary’s in elk county pa we don’t use sirens anymore but a lot of depts around us do
westmont fire co in westmont Nj still uses theirs i hear it at least once a day!
About half the departments in our area still use them, ours included. With the people we have, working outdoors, no cell service, pager out of power, and equipment failures, that siren has saved our bacon several times.

There is no watersupply to houses in the rural area???? How do they shower etc?
Hahaha there is to houses, but there are no fire hydrants because the houses are too spread out
Any department that has a tanker. You can guarantee the Tankers gets mileage.

I’m curious on becoming a junior firefighter but don’t know how too. I’ve google a lot, but can never get a straight answer. Any tips?
Try reaching out to some of your local stations, most of them have junior positions but they might not make it super public. Where are you located?
@@HeroesNextDoor Sadly I’m not located any where near you. Im in northern part of Illinois. I’ve tried looking for contact info via email and stuff like that on websites, but most of it is outdated. I could try to go physically to a station but it seems a bit scary.
Yeah I get that. See if they have a Facebook page, most of them do a lot through that instead of their website. Try going over on a saturday, most likely there will be people there hanging out or working around the station.

i'm on probationary period for New Haven volunteer fire rescue hello from New york
beautiful buildings & equipment. mostly now a days its me myself & I heck with anyone else. we have to get back to help someone else if they need help. I was a volunteer back in the "80" for about 4 years. i left for sickness. It was interesting. you got a heart felt goodness.
