The ankle hinge pops out of these, at least they have on mine, just after 12 months. They are still ok, I'm not sure how much help that brace would give anyway, looks more style than function to me. Comfy though, and dry. Ima spend more next time for SIDI or Astars
How do you re-attach a fastener that has come out of the ankle brace? It looks like it goes in like a button but for the life of me I can't attach it. Any help would be massively appreciated.
Hi Adam, sorry - we've been out filming. I'll take a look when I'm back in the warehouse and see if we can work out what needs to be done. Cheers, Tony
Hi, I've just been told by our shop team that the fastener can't be reattached at home as it's a permanent fixture. Hopefully your boots are still within the one-year manufacturer warranty period. If they are then contact your retailer about the issue. If that retailer is us, you can create a return here... www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/return_start Cheers, Tony
The Alpinestars rate higher than the RST for transverse rigidity (resistance to forces trying to crush a foot laid on its side). On other tests they are equal. The RSTs are approved to provide impact protection at the ankle, while the Alpinestars are not. The Alpinestars boots have inserts at the ankle that are intended to provide protection, but there's nothing on the label to say it has been tested or approved as such. I hope this helps. Cheers, Tony
There are some mentions of hot and sweaty feet in the customer reviews and I would expect that to be a strong possibility on hot days. Membranes like Hipora aren't as breathable as Gore-Tex (they're also considerably cheaper than Gore-Tex). Thanks for getting in touch and I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony
On average how long does it take to bed in these boots? They ate super snug and they don't seem to want to give. These are my first full length boots so no previous experience to lean on. Any help would be great! Ta
It seems quite a common comment in customer reviews that the boots need breaking in, but no reviewers give any specifics on how long that should take. Perhaps those who own a pair might chip in with their feeling on this. I hope they give and become more flexible for you soon. Cheers, Tony
I have large calves, from being a drummer my entire life, and when I got mine, I walked around my house for a few hours with them on, and that helped a lot. It took about a week to get fully bedded in, for me, but that initial three hours fixed the calf problem for mez for the first 15 minutes I was walking, the soles of my feet never touched the boot. I walked on my calves. I’ve had them for two years, now, and finally wore a hole in the bottom of the right boot, from dragging rear brake in low speed corners so much. I put 20,000 miles on the boots in two years, and I’ve walked around at concerts and bike meets for hours with them on. 100% worth it. I’m about to order another pair today.
The boots I use, bought via SBS. Never had wet feet....not once, and comfortable literally out of the box.
Just ordered this from you guys. All I need is pants and a jacket I’ll be complete
Great review ! waiting for delivery.

@@sportsbikeshop unfortunately they're past the warranty period. I've only had them a couple of years aswell. Thanks for your help anyway.
Sorry to hear that. I hope your next boots hold together a bit longer. Cheers, Tony
How are these compared to Alpinestars smx 6 v2s regarding safety?

Im considering buying these boots or the sidi performer gore tex boots, which would you recommend for touring? Thank you
In my experience, Gore-Tex boots in general always perform better and are worth the extra outlay if you can stretch to it. Cheers, Tony
How's is the breathability?. Will I get a clammy feet?

Nice boots but I have large calfs
Possibly not the boots for you then, Martin. Never mind, plenty more fish in the sea 😁 Thanks for taking the trouble to comment. Cheers, Tony
