Yes the starter sounds different but I don't think it's weak I think where it's a different style starter it may have a different sound to it but can't tell thru camera but is what it is. But a very good vid bud .and as ya said there is much to be learned on this vid ..you have a great day and godbless

In an earlier episode I introduced my Kawasaki Mule, it’s like 812cc’s, 2x4 or 4x4, winch, windshield and a roof. It’s a perfect reliable workhorse for what I need on my farm and I practically use it everyday. I’m very happy with this machine so far. We’re transforming this old hobby farm into an amazing farm stay vacation rental. I regularly tour guests on the Mule so it was important to be able to carry more people but also be versatile enough for just me and my puppy. Very good tips Josh. Love your channel.

Excellent video. Atvs tend to be one of those things where most of them have been run hard and put up wet.
The only thing I’d add to the list of things to check would be to check the trans case for hairline cracks, and I like to pop the air box cover to check for water or mud.

We bought a Club Car Carry All 295 UTV that is 13 years old & has 2500 hours on it. It’s a bit worn in places, especially plastics. However it was used at an airport by an airline company so it probably has not done much mud running. It’s powered by a 3 cylinder Kubota Diesel engine which suits farm work.

DS.....part of what I'm doing here is showing ya...there are some great machines out there...but look for the best used machines. You can take this video and listen to it on the way to look at them...you'll save thousands! I saved nearly $4500 on these 2 machines from new cost. Gotta have 2 on the farm for helpers....Honda seems to outlast and be the best...look for low hour machines...under 150 hours...they're awesome.....just to give you an idea..the Kubota RTV x1140 already has 300 hours and is as good as it was the day I bought if off the showroom floor. Happy hunting! Josh

Save big buying from an individual my brotha...saved nearly $4500 buying these used models...I'll take a slow starter over that amount of cash. Just wait till you find the right deal on the best machine...walk away from garbage...you are right on resale..but the biggest hit is the day you take it home....ya loose thousands

On Honda’s to make the bearing last remove the hubs and push in the cv and smear in marine grease into the seals.. it will double the life of the bearings. Make sure you put the oil filter in right, some need to go in the right way.. if wrong you kill the motor due to lack of oil...

I am wondering if the battery isn't as good on the machine with the starter that sounds weak. It sounded like it might be turning slower.

Sounded more like a low battery or connection than the starter.

Ha! No, more electronics, more problems.
They only had a few hours on them for a reason. The original owners went back to a carburetored, manually shifted because it will last 5x longer.
Been there, found that out the hard way.
Had four 2015 Can Am 1000R ATVs. WEAK tie rods(broke often leaving us hobbling them back, brake master cylinders were ALWAYS blowing out (no brakes), weak plastic body parts.

Man....I know...I'm used to the old stuff too....I honestly would like the foot shift option and may do a conversion to have the option on either machine

Sounds like you've had bad luck with the CanAm Machines for sure...1000cc is a monster of a machine...most people use them like a monster too. Tough to beat a honda

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer i bought them new... junk. The Can Am 1000R is a power house though.
I also have a Honda Pioneer 1000 Side by side.. it has been ok but it shifts real hard and for a 1000 seems a tad low on power in comparison. But my 2006 Polaris 700 ATV hasn't skipped a beat and i BEAT on that one (trail riding, hunting, carrying live stock food, towing etc)

Good morning Sir...I'm a young farmer in Jamaica who is interested in a used utility ATV for farm purposes. I like the concept of the extra racks you installed, I would love something like that. I would be greatly appreciative if you can help me out in terms of references.

If they burned up a starter they probably were not easy on that starter. Pull it apart and clean the armature and relube bearing and bushing with synthetic oil and grease put back together should work like new. I always go thru the starter on everything I buy. Have never had to replace a starter that I went thru. No parts needed usually just a little time.

I’m also wondering if they replaced the starter instead of the battery, thinking a slow starter means a bad starter and not a tired battery 🤷‍♂️

I saw a comment from someone about the electronic power steering overheating when using the machine with a heavy plow to push snow. Has anybody else experienced that? Curious.

I prefer the older Honda machines, & I would pass on electric shift. I bought 1985 Honda Fourtrax 250 in 2001. Plowed all my snow with it until this past winter (18 years). I have a drop basket on the rear. Added weight & tire chains got the snowplowing job done. The only issue I have had was the starter needed to be rebuilt for about $100. Even then, I kick started it for a year or two before I had it rebuilt. The machine is 36 years old, & I have no intentions of selling it. It's built extremely tough. I did upgrade to 1996 Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4 last year, & it cost me about 1/3 the price of a new Honda Rancher I had been looking for one in good shape for a long time. Found one owned by an older person who only used for light trail riding at their cabin. I had a winch added, & it's my new snowplowing machine. My property is quite rugged & hilly. I much prefer a machine with gears going up and especially down hills. I don't see myself ever selling or replacing these two machines. The newer machines have way too much plastic on them. When it comes to ATVs, I think anything over 500cc is just wasting gas. 300-500cc will do most anything you want, & I've done years of stuff with a smaller 250cc machine without issue.
