Hello Nick. 10 months on .I change my engine oil at 7500 ks.with Castrol magnatec 5w40 synthetic diesel engine oil..I drained 9 litres out of sump .Thats over a litre dilution. The dilution must make the oil lose some of its lubricating qualities , this could even more critical with a turbo....Scotty Kilmer says engine oil is cheap car engines are very expensive..I think it's worth changing engine oil half eay through the 15 , 000 k maintenance cycle..I buy the magnatec when it's on special around low 70 dollars for 10 litres .When it's not on special it's 120 dollars. I actually got it in one place for 65 dollars that's the cheapest I've ever seen ..Oil filter from dealer 36 dollars..
Hello Nick .The reason the oil comes out of the sump straight away is the sump pan is so incredibly thin .I just changed the oil on my daughters Suzuki Swift 2008 model , the sump is so thick you could use it on a Tiger Tank. I'm amazed the MUXs so thin being a 4 wheel drive. Had mine serviced recently and they used 15W 40 at Isuzu. You have used 5W 30 do you think that was too thin for the heavy duty engine and high ambient temperatures. The 10W 40 sounds more apt for the Sunshine Coast. I've always filled my oil filters with oil before fitting and those filters that are on their side half filled so the oil light goes out straight away. Love your videos Nick , there the best..
Thanks mate, you should put a fuel water trap filter in before the factory fuel filter, l fitted one after a trip in the outback and got bad Watery fuel since then no problem as l can see the fuel and the unit wont let water pass, love your show.
W h en draining the oil does the sump drain fully because on some duramax engines they don't drain fully because of the way the sump drain bolt is fitted
Great reference guides, I constantly refer to your channel Nick. Hardest thing about changing the oil is alignment of the bash guards when recovery points are fitted, quite proud of myself, I didn’t swear once 🤣
Hey Nick, could you do a video on how to flush and set the level of the auto transmission with regards to temperature and the vehicles running, and in gear to set the level.
thanks mate, did the oil change today too (after the Auto Tranny fluid change). IS there a parts list anywhere? I have a fluid leak at the front, from a hose with a crack, not sure if its oil or transmission fluid.
@@michaelwalmsley9810 The manual suggests different oils based on ambient temperature. The 10w40 oil is slightly thicker which offers better lubrication in hotter environments, quieter engine operation as well. The 5w30 is good for most environments, however I prefer to run slightly thicker oil.
Can I ask you a question? have you used synthetic oil 5w-40 ck-4 in the isuzu? I have a Dmax and currently use Castrol Vecton 15-40 ck-4, but it is semi synthetic. Would it be advisable to make the change?
How do you manage to reset the computer to acknowledge that you have changed the oil and the filter? After 50,000 of not doing this on mine the DPF started a constant burn.
thanks for the video! I'm about to change my engine oil too for the first time what tools would I need apart from the oil filter wrench? do i need a socket tool set?
Yes you will require a 14mm socket, 17mm socket to remove the under trays and a 17mm socket to remove the sump plug. A 1/2" socket set with an extension and the oil filter pliers and a drain tray will make the job easy. :)
Hey mate, what size or kind of sump plug washer are you using? I've always used the same one for 80k without having an issue but thinking it's time to replace it.
Hey Nick, love the channel. I dropped my 4x4 2020 mux oil and filter last night as per your video. I put in 7.5 litres of oil but I am getting oil smears all the way up to the X on the dip stick and finding it very hard to read with those stupid yellow tabs and one side is always worse than the other..... Wouldn’t expect the level to be that high just after an oil change.... had same results even after leaving the car for several hours!! If I can see a small area of the yellow tab that has no oil, would one safely assume the level would be below that?
It is sometimes hard to read. If you dip it for only 1 second and pull it out There should be one side of the dipstick that has a solid level. The smears make it difficult to read. Try turning the dipstick once you pulled it out and read the opposite side. Sometimes it is better.
@@LowRangeNick Thanks for the reply Nick. I will try the the 1 sec check. You are correct, one side was reading better that the other... silly manual says to refer to the higher side... got a feeling the higher side is the side being pulled up against tube...
Hey Nick, bloody legend mate. The list goes on with the tips from your videos. Juat curious - do you have rust protection on the mux at all. If so what type and why. Thanks mate
