Crying because this is everything I needed to hear today. I'm 8 weeks and just so, so miserable and can't be excited and this is the first time I've heard something honest and relatable. I can't thank you enough for this video.

I’m not pregnant. Nor do I ever want to get pregnant. Yet I found this video so informative. Hopefully gaining more insight into an experience I’ll never have will make me more empathetic once my friends start getting pregnant.

On behalf on pregnant women, Thank you! I find too many people run on assumptions re: pregnancy instead of just offering compassionate support. You seem like you would really care and offer that, so thank you :)

I was always empathetic towards pregnant women but having my closest friends become mothers surely amped up the compassion and willingness to help out. Plus I get to have surrogate nephews and nieces.

Lily! I remember watching this back in 2018 when my husband and I were first trying, and throughout the years I always knew I would come back to it. After finally going through IVF this year, I had my first positive pregnancy test and am currently 4 weeks. I am so happy to be back here re-watching with a newfound understanding and joy. 💕

Hey Lily, I'm about 7 weeks pregnant now with my first, and I have just been going back and watching this and your first trimester vlog and I just wanted to say thanks for how honest you were. I have been feeling sooo sick, and just hearing that someone else has gone through it makes me feel better. You are the first person who I've ever heard talk about that sort of personality loss feeling, and if I hadn't heard it from you I might have been harder on myself.

I’m currently 11 weeks, this video was such a breath of fresh air. I’m sick of being told how I should be feeling or that I’m exaggerating how I feel, I should be grateful for this gift. It has been such a challenge getting up most days but this has made me feel more positive that things will start to ease
    Thank you and merry Christmas

    Hi Lily!
I’m 23 weeks pregnant with my first which is also a girl and you have totally summed up my first trimester!
I had sickness up to 19 weeks and to be honest just was ruining it all for me so it’s so comforting to know that it’s normal to feel like that! I can be more excited now although there’s still plenty of pregnancy I don’t enjoy! Roll on April 2019 so it can be over with the best gift. Have an amazing Christmas 🎄

Not all pregnancy involves sickness etc so don't worry if you have a lack of symptoms. I was pregnant with awful symptoms but none of my friends had morning sickness or spd but we all had healthy babies. Great video. Excited for baby! Happy Christmas everyone xx

Thank you for your honesty! So many articles online tell you to be a super woman with all the healthy food and exercise when sometimes it just can't happen. I has a miscarriage and few people asked me what I did wrong. WTF. Judgement on pregnant women is amazing. As you say, we recognize that being pregnant (if intended) is a privilege but we should be allowed to state the truth and complain about it too. It's our body!

I think some ppl don't mean bad but it's like "oh no, is it because you were stressed?" or "is it because you went on a long train ride?". Nope. Just happened. Didn't eat anything weird, didn't go nuts exercising. After I got a few of these reactions, I stopped sharing. Oh well.

Hi Lily. I’m nearly 18 weeks and I can SO totally relate to EVERYTHING you’ve mentioned in thanks video. I too found the first trimester so so difficult, from the nausea, to the lack of personality, the tiredness, feeling sad and unhappy (even you’re grateful) people not understand and making comments like ‘ your not Ill your pregnant ‘ the carrying Cheerios around in your bag!!! Just everything!!! I’m finally starting to feel a bit better, but still don’t have this ‘glow, burst of energy’ everyone buzzes on about !!!
Think it’s so great you’ve done this video and been so honest - I was nodding all the way through.
Wishing you all the best with the rest of your pregnancy x

Facial mist is a lovely one, and it’s nice in early labour and the hospital afterwards. Neals yard have a lovely hand sanitiser too. It’s the little things. I just had my second bundle of joy last week and I was much more active in the last trimester than my first pregnancy, not going to the gym but kept going for walks right up to due date and I noticed even though I’m 4 years older this time I was way more energised before baby came. Good luck to all the expectant mothers. It’s the most truly amazing journey. Bump to baby is incredible.

Hello Lily. I just wanted to comment to say thank you for making this video. I’m currently almost 7 weeks pregnant after trying for around 8 months and I’m over the moon. However, I’ve been so confused as I feel low, anxious, sad and generally just not myself (alongside the nausea). I cannot tell you how much better I feel after watching you talk in this video, to know that I’m likely not alone in the way I’m feeling. Thank you for being so honest when you made this, I cannot tell you how much of a help it has been x

I am a few weeks ahead of you and I think what you said here is both really true but also very important. I was horribly sick my first trimester and everything you said about cutting yourself some slack and doing what is best for you is exactly what I wish had been said to me. It does get better but before it does, allow yourself to do exactly and only what will make you feel better; or at least less miserable.
Thank you for putting this kind of content out there. It will be so beneficial to others struggling through those first weeks.

Yes to not worrying about eating super healthy in the 1st trimester. I had the WORST morning sickness for the first 17-18 weeks... They were the worst days of. my. life. It was total survival mode. I had to switch from my carefully selected multivitamins to gummies. I ate potato chips and frozen jellos for days on end. I did feel better by 20 weeks (ffs) and ate relatively healthy from then. My baby is super healthy. It's going to be okay, eat what you can. Obviously you can't get dehydrated or malnutrition, but your body is stronger than you think. Also, yes to communicating with your spouse. My husband was scared and felt horrible for me. He felt guilty and said he would have never wanted kids if this was what I had to go through. Talk to them and tell them what you need from them, even if it's leaving you alone or helping with chores. All in all, it's going to be wonderful (and hard), but this too shall pass. Truly the happiest days of my life now.

Hi Lily! I’m new to your channel and I never usually comment on TH-cam videos but I wanted to thank you so much for this video and all the pregnancy-related chatty sections of your videos. I’m currently struggling in my 11th week of my first pregnancy and your videos are such a huge comfort to me. Even though I have many mom-friends and desperately want to hear about other people’s experiences with their pregnancies, I find myself not wanting to talk about how I’m feeling since I feel too tired and down to do so - which results in feeling very lonely. You are the only person who had the exact same symptoms as I do and is able to perfectly verbalize my pain and struggle with my first trimester, and that makes me feel so comforted, understood, and validated. Thank you so much for sharing so openly and honestly, and I look forward to your next videos :)

I’ve only known I’m pregnant for four days and the nausea started on day two of that (yesterday). Struggling right now with how I can get to work, be at work, and get home from work with this. Yesterday was rough doing that, and today I’ve ended up at home. I want to shout it to everyone but at same time no one. Discovering this video and your channel has been the best help of my day. 20 weeks already?! Wishing u all the best for the rest of your pregnancy. For my first baby I had hyperemesis gravidarum for the whollleeeee pregnancy & from that I was diagnosed with antenatal depression. I was put on high risk of potentially having postpartum depression because of that! But as soon as my baby was born I started to feel like I was myself again & all my symptoms started to go! It was crazy, I reckon it took me maybe 2ish days to feel fully myself and I was sooo happy! My advice for any mama to be is that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I feel the exact same about how slowly it's going! I'm 6 weeks 5 days and found out at 3 weeks 6 days and these past three weeks have been excruciatingly slow, both because I now feel nauseous on and off all day and because I just want to get to a scan to make sure everything is OK in there.

This is a great video but just to reassure people who aren’t feeling sick or crap, not every pregnancy or every person is the same. There are a number of women who don’t suffer morning sickness and don’t feel terrible every day. You are not weird and shouldn’t worry or go to the doctors because you aren’t having morning sickness. Everyone is different!

This. I had literally no pregnancy symptoms apart from no periods and it was so worrying! My whole pregnancy was very atypical, it took me a long time to feel movements and even then they weren't regular and my placenta was anterior which muffled a lot. Really liked this video. I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant on my first. While I've had a different start than you, I can relate to a lot. I wasn't physically sick more than twice in the first trimester but felt ill from 4pm everyday. So dinner for 3 weeks was crackers with butter & a bowl of grapes. Also completely echo the telling a few people. I told my mam, sister & a couple of select friends. My other half didn't want to tell his family & I respected that. I saw a great post on facebook about how you're not supposed to tell people in case of miscarriage etc but that you should tell the people you might need should that happen. It means it's not a double blow trying to tell them. I also told work early (bout 8 weeks) as we were starting to plan for this year and I knew I wouldn't be there. Told my boss in confidence & it made such a difference, he was so supportive and helpful if I needed anything.

I love this! I really wish I would have had this when I was pregnant. You summed it up perfectly. One thing I hated was when people would say "oh I loved being pregnant". Pregnancy is not all sunshine and roses. First trimester is sickness and gross, second isn't too bad and third is full on invasion of the body snatchers lol. I had migraine headaches my entire pregnancy and while it was 100% worth it and I am grateful that I was able to experience it, it was not easy and I am glad you are being so candid about what it can be like, I really could have used having that when I was going through it.

I'm 34 weeks today. My 1st trimester experience was nowhere near as bad as yours (watched the vlog) but every pregnancy and every person are different. I was working 45 hours full time at that point still and work kept my mind off most of the times. I have to admit, although I did feel sick (I refuse to call it morning sickness, I was absolutely fine in the morning and then felt horrible usually after 3pm onwards for the rest of the day) I never actually was physically sick. I don't know if that's a blessing, I saw it more like a curse as I couldn't find relief in any way. Plus I had those sudden exhaustion bouts, where I would feel fine one minute and completely drained the next.
Obviously letting your family know as soon as possible is the best thing to do and it benefits you because of the advice and the extra attention you will get, but unfortunately my whole family and close friends live abroad, so I didn't get the benefit of that. I do see the difference it makes to one of my British friends though, as she is 12 weeks pregnant right now and I was one of the very first people she told. It also made me feel so much better to be able to share all of these experiences I went through (and still going) with someone who is currently going through the same!
My top tip for the first trimester is related to coffee. I'm one of those people who have 3-4 cups of coffee per day, sometimes more, so going from that to decaf was a shock to the system. I struggled to wake up most days and wasn't feeling awake for a good 2-3 hours after I was already up. My midwife told me I can only have a cup of coffee a day, which at the beginning I was having in the morning, but that wasn't enough still. What I ended up doing is having half a teaspoon of normal coffee and half of decaf in the morning, which allowed me to have another half and half cup later in the day when I needed it the most. I told my pregnant friend to do the same and she has been so thankful I shared with her, because she was struggling herself!
Keep it up with the great content, you are doing a fabulous job!

Goes to show how every pregnancy is so different because fresh food in the first 10 weeks was the last thing I could eat. I couldn’t even walk through the fresh produce section in the supermarket. Crisps (specifically pickled onion Monster Munch), noodles and fizzy orange drinks was what worked for me.
My top tip is don’t be scared or shocked by your crazy emotions. I actually cried in Sainsbury’s because they didn’t have the flavour of stand n stuff taco kit I wanted. The poor teenage guy who worked there wasn’t sure what to do with me 😂😂
And wear panty liners all the time, snissing will happen ... a lot.

i explained that in my first trimester video.. I felt so crap mentally, yet i knew i was happy to be pregnant especially as i have polycystic ovaries. i just felt like i shouldn't be pregnant etc but i knew it wasn't really how i felt if that makes sense. it was all just a shock moment

I remember all that the sickness ,the tiredness, the moodiness ! For the whole 12 weeks ! Then I miscarried at 12 weeks ! After we'd stopped being so sad about it first thing my husband said was 'does we mean we have to do the tiredness and grumpiness all over again?' ! Because I was such a joy ! Haha ! And yes yes we do ! One day if we are lucky enough !
Best reason in the world to feel like crap !
At least if you get a baby out of it is worth it ! Otherwise I spent two months feeling awful for nothing !
    Better luck next time :-)
    Congrats on the pregnancy:-)

Thank you for this video! I am 7 weeks pregnant and feel like absolute crap most of the time and lazy and unmotivated. I had a miscarriage in Sept so I am so much more nervous and anxious with this pregnancy. I have my ultrasound soon and I’m just so terrified. I like watching your videos because they are so honest and real and exactly how I feel too.

Each pregnancy is so different. I felt great in my first trimester, sick in my second and then great in my last again. I only put on 5lbs, didn't need maternity jeans until I was about 30 weeks pregnant... All great, but I think because I looked "great" (not my words...) People presumed I felt ok or just forgot I was pregnant. I got a lot of "oh this is the second trimester, this is the easy bit" when it was by far the hardest part for me. X

I had absolutely no symptoms in my first and second trimester. I had my first scan at 6 or 8weeks. Our midwife suggested that and it didn't cost us anything. After that we told our parents and sisters at 12 weeks or so. We told our other friends and family at our wedding about 14 weeks in. I'm over 30 weeks now and start feeling my pelvicbone now but nothing serious. My bump is so small some people still don't even notice. 😂 And I'm not a huge or tiny person.

TammyTTalks Thank you for this! I am 8 weeks and feel worried to death I have no “clear” symptoms. I only have been feeling tired but I have started convincing myself I’m just lazy and making it up! I know symptoms or no symptoms are no indication about how healthy your baby is but having no symptoms made me feel a little alone when reading things online about everyone having morning sickness and sore boobs, etc. It also makes me constantly worry something is definitely wrong. Reading your post just makes me feel
100 times better, thank you so much.
