Thank you guys for doing this interview with us! I’d like to clear up a few things in the comments, cuz y’all are jumping to conclusions.
I had hopeful doctors who were optimistic about his life, however, the 3 blatantly RUDE doctors really made this harder than it needed to be. We were aware of the facts & made a decision knowing things could go either way and were prepared for both. As you can see, we got extremely lucky with our choice and not only met our baby, but have raised a very happy go lucky almost 4 year old.
ANOTHER THING; it was OUR CHOICE. This is OUR STORY. No where did SBSK or my family say that we are against abortions. I am pro-choice and believe abortions are healthcare and any pregnant person deserves access to safe, judgement free care no matter the reason.
Thank you for all of you that are being kind. I’m so happy my boy is shining so bright all over the world 💜 be kind, it’s free!
Edit to add; healthcare professionals are there to present information, education, and provide options. Not bully a young first time mom into a choice she didn’t want to make for herself.
ALSO, doctors and medicine SAVE LIVES! Please stop the extremism.

If you died TODAY, where would you be spending eternity? Have all your sins been forgiven or are you still hoping that you're a good enough person to earn a spot in heaven.
The reality is that no one can earn a spot, our sin disqualifies us. But the God news is that Jesus paid for our qualification by dying on our behalf taking the punishment that we deserved.
JESUS said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son; that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
Nothing is more important than your eternal destination. Please, don't say, "When I get older I'll get right with God' or 'I'll get serious with Jesus one day when I'm ready.'
Don't wait any longer, today is the day of salvation. Get right with God today, for tomorrow very well might be too late.
We invite you to REPENT and accept that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life by praying this simple prayer out loud right now...
'Heavenly Father, I turn away from my old life and repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus came for me, that Jesus died for me and that Jesus rose again for me so that I can be forgiven and receive eternal life. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, receive the gift of eternal life. @@KPAproductionStudios1970 Not every disability is compatible with life, or indeed a decent quality of life. It is a hard conversation to have with heartbroken parents but there are definitely times when terminating a wanted pregnancy is the kindest option. Doctors should give their medical opinion and recommendations without being fired or demonised.
This child is obviously happy and well-cared for and the parents made the right choice for their family.
But there are pregnancies that have little to no chance of this positive outcome. Let’s not demonise doctors and parents who make a heartbreaking decision to spare their child suffering.

Recommending termination is a valid and complex decision between medical professionals and the parents. While you shouldn't fault parents for not terminating, the inverse is true - parents who go forward with termination are not any less valid. It's a very touchy subject, but it should be a subject between parents and doctors, no one else.

truly amazing parents. i would never judge someone who did terminate because of this-not everyone is capable of being a parent to a child with such health issues, whether that’s by financial or just personal capability. but clearly they were more than capable and are doing amazing, and thankfully have a fantastic relationship with one another as well!! which clearly makes this child even happier :-) it was just heartwarming to watch them be loving parents together, but even more so, for them to just enjoy their time with him and happily let him move at his own pace and be his own little man. for however long they have with him, whether it be years or decades, i know he will be in a joyful and safe space. which is all we can ask for for the children in this world. thank you for sharing your story!!!!

This may be controversial but I feel like doctors do have to push people in order for parents to understand the severity and potential life-long effects and that way, they are certain the parents are ready to make their own choices. Since it's usually impossible to predict quality of life, they cannot possibly tell parents that they should bring a child into the world because that child will be ok, because they don't know, and that could have worse consequences. While it seems heartless, I think it does help the parents to go into 'fighting mode' if they are ready to take on the responsibilities. And don't forget that some people in the medical field are exposed to so much hardship, they often have a different view on life than others people. I hope I'm not offending anyone with this statement.

    • @ihatemickiegee
      @ihatemickiegee 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

i have to agree. maybe *not* in the way in which this doctor approached the subject, (as the mother described in a comment reply.) but in the sense that it still is important to sort of lay those options out there to see if they _are_ able to fight for the future child’s life. it is ok that not everyone is able to be this parent [although clearly this couple were meant to be!]
i also agree that some doctors are sometimes just harsh because of the dark things they see everyday, especially in pediatric wards and so on. bedside manner is important. maybe he had prior experience with a patient with the same conditions and was worried for them, who knows. either way i wish they had gotten a different tone of conversation, but it looks like everything went down the way it did for a reason, and gratefully they have a beautiful son in a loving home.
*_just hope that doctor presents options and likelihoods in a realistic but unbiased way in the future._* ♥

It puts into perspective the hardships they could face, and I think it's up to an individual to decide and mentioning the fact they may not be compatible with life let's a family decide on the course, to wait it out and hope, or to terminate.
