- Pulling away from an intersection, twin stickin' it pulling an 18' flat bed with whats left of an old wood deck. Probably 2500ish lbs between trailer and load. Nothing major, but no problem for the ole' 453! Vid was taken by a buddy from his truck so it isn't the greatest sound, hope to get some better outside the truck footage soon.
This looks like it was recoded in 1979 .

I have a 1986 f250 extended cab it had a 6.9 idi and a 5 speed manual but I put a Detroit 6-71 with a 10 speed eaton fuller that thing is a beast it scares kids when I drive past them because I have straight pipes
How the hell did you get that 6-71 to a standard pickup truck. The 6.9 idi was 30 inches long and the 6-71 is 56. Only way that thing fits in a pickup is cut a big ass hole in the floor and firewall and remove the front seats and drive from the back. Even then its doubtful, not to mention the 6-71 is 1200 pounds heavier then the 6.9.
Ya the only Detroit diesels people put in pickups are 4-53 and 6v-53 and 6v-92 Detroits. The others are to large and heavy for pickups. Also I would have kept the 6.9.
@@snoopytheace4487 the 6v92 is even too large to fit. The popular us a 4-53, 3-53, or a 4-71, there are a few 6v-53 but they are shoehorned in there good. But I think this guy and the 6-71 is full of crap

@@smckinney3mckinney141 with the size of the 6v92 the only way it would fit is to put a f600 or similar hood on the truck. Which would require a medium duty frame. Not saying it couldnt be done. Just highly doubt it.

Hey man, what sized truck is this motor in? My buddy has a 76 half ton he wants to put a 453T in, but the weight of the motor is what scares me. Would he be able to run a 453T on a half ton front axle?

5.9 will run quicksilver synthetic TCW3 as its 2 stroke u-loop scavenged convertible and sounds like a sled motor in its 2 stroke state. i got one and running amsoil dominator 2t with rugged up oil injection sounds pretty cool! next i want to try Motul 800 2T!

Ok for starters, I love old Detroit’s for the way they sounded. Now that that’s out of the way, in today’s standards and standards dating back to 3 decades ago, they are complete turds. They required 2 transmissions to get them to to turn the wheels. Zero hp and zero torqure. That trailer was not 18’ and had zero payload to it. That thing can’t get out of its own way regardless of it being a suspected 2800 pounds. Yet everyone quick to say “fuk yeah!! And merica!!!!”. Junk motor and all noise and no pull. My old 89 Honda Accord from high school could probably pull harder. With all that set aside, would I want this truck in the video? Oh hell yes I would! It’s just plain badass sounding and cool!!! But by all means, it’s still a turd. A complete turd
